How can this thing be $25, triple the battery life and still be the same size as the original battery?

Why wouldn't Nintendo use something more like this to begin with?

(I assume because they're cheap..)

Much better than the U Boost at the same price.

It's not the same size as the original battery, this covers all the space available on the back.

I might just get this, then. The 3DS Power Pak has been good to me since I got it and if this thing is just a better battery with no extra bulk that's even better!

I just hope it'll be priced right. :)

This sounds like a good deal. I was worried that there would be extra bulk but from the looks and sounds of it there wont be.

They haven't exactly been known for putting in the highest grade stuff these days, but i'd want to wait and see how long it really last.

I ran into a battery problem once, the day I bought the console. I may get it though, just in case :)

It's $25, per the link in the OP.

Sounds good. It's still really crappy how they purposefully added a shitty default battery.

Shame on Nintendo for giving us such a crappy battery just to cut the cost to it's maximum. :[ If I like this, I might buy the power pack for the 3DS as well. :]

Probably not quite triple but it would probably more than double the expected life. Their products for the 3DS and Vita have been marvelous and for the most part come close to the advertised life span despite a somewhat high defect rate in my experience.

It's good to see a decent battery come along. I'll probably get one later on.

What I really hope is that someone will make an analog trigger kit. :(

If this is any good I might get it. Battery life hasn't been a problem so far, except when I took the Wii U to a friend's place and forgot to charge it so I had to plug it in while I played. Weight's going to be a big factor though, it's probably the second reason why Nintendo didn't go with a bigger battery.

Will wait for a little bit to make sure it doesn't have any issues but I am interested in this. The life of the Game Pad with the stock battery is really piss poor.

Seems reasonable. If it doesn't cause any issues, can still be charged via the charger bundled with the Deluxe unit and so on, I'd probably pick this up.

I always thought of nyko products and crappy unneeded stuff, but this seems amazing.

I don't even have a Wii U but would probably have to buy this with one.

Thank god, I'm so tired of seeing that red light and my charging cord is now too short to reach where I sit (vacuuming accident).

Speaking of which, I didn't realize until that unfortunate cord chewing accident that the AC adapter for the pad isn't sold separately. I was able to splice it back together but there were a few tense hours where I thought I was SOL.

Fix that shit Nintendo!

Also, *insert Nintendo is so damn cheap comment here*

Heard praise for the giant battery pack for the original 3DS, I believe. I didn't get one because I had the aqua blue one, though.

It's only $25? really?

I would have thought a 4000mAh lithium polymer battery would cost a bit more than that.

I'll definitely get this, the horrible-horrible battery life of the GamePad is the thing I hate the most about the WiiU.
Hoping it doesn't die after a year...

Are Nyko products quality stuff usually?

I had a Nyko grip add-on for my Vita that also boosted the battery and I'll say it definitely worked. I got around 9-10 hours of solid playtime out of my Vita from it.

Probably will buy this. Hope they don't catch fire.

/Also just bought Nyko USB charger cable for Wii U Gamepad. Haven't tried it yet, but lol at ghetto fix at the box. They label the cable as being able to charge both the Wii U GamePad and 3DS, someone, either Best Buy or Nyko, covered that bulletpoints on the box up with strips of paper.

Is there any problems with batteries like these? Like longevity or screwed charging cycles like I had using some for wiimote.

They are likely making a nice profit on it too. Batteries are not that expensive. I can't imagine the difference between what nintendo put in and this being more than a couple of bucks.
