Why it is?

Only the origin system's data gets wiped. The destination system's settings, Miis, and stuff get overwritten but the game licenses are merged. (You only "lose" a game if both systems have the same game installed. Then your previously two licenses become one.)

Actually if I wanted to play Fire Emblem on my XL I'd probably have to system transfer my XL *to* the Fire Emblem 3DS, and then transfer it all back to the XL. That's stupid lol.

3DS had better speakers than XL. Better speakers is a big part why I'm wary of buying a XL instead of sticking with a 3DS since I like my sound in my video games. (And don't bring up HEADPHONES! Headphones are the worst, give me headaches.)

I didn't know it being the original 3DS was a deal breaker for so many people. Is it really the size? I recently bought a GB Micro and I never want to play GBA games on anything that isn't my Micro, but that's just me.

Almost more interested that it's a standard 3DS. XL has two issues I'm not too fond of: noticeably lower max volume and severe 3D crosstalk. You get a smaller screen w/ the standard, but things just look sharp.

I'd buy a 3DS Micro in a heartbeat. It's Micro or XL for me. Nothing in-between!

Yup I feel this way too. I don't think anything looks sharp even on the OG 3DS so the bigger screen is the much better improvement for me.

Also the XL actually looks like they paid someone to design it with the nice rounded, refined looking edges. The edges on the OG? Who the heck thought that looked good?

Indeed, I couldn´t spent more than 30 minutes playing the original 3DS model without my hands cramping, plus the unit just feels like a cheap device, as if they cut corners everywhere. No such thing with a 3DS XL for me.

Exaggerate much? Reads like you're over-compensating.

3DS vs XL comes down to preference, of course. I've got both. The 3DS image quality is slightly better, but I much prefer the larger screen and better battery life. Also fits more comfortably in my hands. Makes for a much better experience for me. I don't touch my 3DS anymore.

I also find it no less portable than the OG. But maybe there are particular circumstances (tiny pockets in skinny jeans?) where it just wouldn't work.

Well, there is no stock that needs "clearing." The XL wasn't a 3DS replacement, just as much as the iPad mini doesn't replace the normal iPad. Different sizes for different folks!

No, pretty convinced of both items. 3DS barely fits in pocket as-is, XL literally does not fit, simple facts. And my experience with an XL demo unit cemented the DPI shittiness, the 3DS DPI was one of the things that impressed me the most, coming off the DSi. Using that XL was like traveling back in time.

Gimme an XL in the exact same proportions as the OG, so I can benefit from the nicer form factor, and we'll talk.

Oh yeah I was thinking about the XL. I can't believe white ones wouldn't sell. Every single person I know has a white iOS device. I mean a white 3DS might not sell the best out of all the colors, but it wouldn't be the worst.

I mean they could sell it as a customizable one for kids or something. They can crayon all over it and make their own limited edition 3DS.

I like the color but not the design. Why can't NoA just release more 3DS colors. There's only red, black, teal blue, pink, and purple. Gimme some white, cobalt blue, lime green, or something even better.
