Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's dge |OT| I guess that's what it means to be a ninja

I'm not really a 3D Ninja Gaiden fan, but I beat Ninja Gaiden 2 last year and this game just seems kinda mediocre in terms of fluidity with attacks and combos. The combat is just off, but it's not awful, but I'm just surprised the gameplay took this kind of turn. Guess I'll check out Orochi.

All this NG2 talk has me wanting to play it again. It's been so long since I touched it and I really need to get a refresher on Itagaki NG to remember what I'm missing.

How do you trigger that instant kill chain when your weapon turns red? I was doing it with Kasumi by doing the Y, Y, X combo, but after I upgraded her weapon all the way it won't do it anymore.

When your weapon is red hold down X for a second. The character will bend down into a stance with red waves emitting from their body.

You can also trigger it manually by holding down X. There are three level, one with each upgrade. I recommend testing this when no one is around so that you can get used to what it looks like.

It's called the Ultimate Technique (or UT for short).

Thank you! Very helpful.

Is the ending any different if you beat the game on easy, medium, or hard mode? This is my first NG game of this trilogy and I know the games are generally considered to be difficult. I would like to start at the easy setting and then move on to the more difficult levels when I beat that, but I don't want to do that if I will get some abbreviated ending because I chose an easier difficulty setting.

Pretty sure there isn't any difference in endings. And if there was, you wouldn't care, because holy shit is the entire story awful.

An abridged ending would probably be better tbh.

Finally picked this up digitally. Absolutely love Kasumi. . . Enemy AI seems okayish, but something def seems off compared to say Sigma 2. Actually, the real revelation was when you ran into the Black Spider ninjas and the sai/ninpo ones were nowhere nearly as annoying/PITA. I recall them being an absolute pain in Sigma 2. D:

Decided this was going to be my 2nd Wii U game after all the positive things I read on what they fixed. Leaving this badboy downloading while I get to the gym.

Last NG game I played was NG2 on 360, should I expect the awesomeness that was that?

No, but it's a decent game.

Any of you guys in the top 100 for any of the chapter challenges? I'm only on a few as I've only played 3 of them on normal. The game is still pretty fun, but haven't been playing too much. Kasumi is pretty awesome and is the only character I've beaten skull challenges with.

Kasumi/Momiji update.

Yeah, there was indeed another update yesterday...but what it does, though, I don't know. But Miiverse seems to think it's just for online issues and stability.

I am seeing claims on Gamefaqs that the 1.2.1 version changes some enemy locations like the first instance of purple fiends on normal, adjusts enemy AI, resets chapter challenge leaderboards, and tweaks the difficulty settings in various ninja trials.

Dunno if this is accurate.

In good ways or bad?

Also, this comes out on Friday here, so I get to play the game of "See how long I can wait before I cave and buy it at full price".

Only remarks to good or bad I've read are some of the more impossible ninja trials are easier now.

Is it normal that I find the first trial impossible to beat? :lol

It's the freaking first trial, and those fucking dogs won't stop annoying (and killing) me :(

This comes out in UK on Friday. I got £50 worth of Amazon vouchers but the game is listed as unavailable on the website. Anyone know why?

Also, a section for Ninja Gaiden 3 has appeared on the Wii U eShop but you can't view content because the times have been restricted. WTF?

When can you view it? After midnight?

After 11pm I believe. There was a whole hoopla about it because it was the same with the Zombi U page. Nintendo blamed Germany or something but their blame didn't make sense. Something like that. I stopped following the thread because I live in the States :p

I'm gettin my Wii U tomorrow and I'm considering getting this game. Is it comparable to NG and NG2, or still not at that level?

So, I wanted to buy and download the game while doing the dishes and some general cleaning, that's not happening because Nintendo Europe are fucking stupid. 5 hours until I can start downloading, awesome.

edit - Been downloading for 3,5 hours with a 100 mbit connection, at 73%. Welcome to the internet Nintendo.
edit 2 - 4h 50min from starting the download to fully installed

The last ninja gaiden I played was Black.
NG3 seem to be somewhat easier than NGB on normal.

But it is fun so far. Blood all over my screen.

Shouldn't the topic be transferred back to general gaming side due to European release?

Also, while the game is on the eShop now, Europe still doesn't have a Miiverse community for this. Why? I think they should create communities atleast like a week early to let people hype and also guarantee early buyers can post their impressions right away.

Didn't realize this thread got Community'd.

Been working on Master Ninja mode. I feel silly that I didn't know about charging Ultimate Techniques on Normal Mode (I probably wouldn't have needed to use Hero at one point).

Anyone know a YouTube user who's uploaded lots direct-feed game-play of Razor's Edge? I wanna see this in raw game-play form, no trailer or gaming website footage.

Is it wrong that I'm enjoying the hell out of this, and so far not regretting spending $60 on it?

Why should it be? Enjoy things you like. People tend to be negative about games they never played on the internet. Don't care about other people opinions. Just enjoy yourself. That said i only played this game at a friend house. only did day 1 with hayabusa i believe. I enjoyed it quite a bit. Will buy this game when i get a Wii u.

I spent like, over a month on the game and still have reasons to play it, so I would say it's a decent $60, at least for me.

EDIT: Also, dogs don't really have any real strategy to them. Just hit them until they die. You can even kill them with the bow if you want.

It seems that a lot of you have been spending a whole bunch of time with the game. How? I mean, are you just grinding Karma to unlock stuff, or is there actually a lot of single-player content?

Thanks for the response KittenMaster, but that's not quite what I meant. I was asking what people were doing in the game to get all that playtime out of it.

Let's say that the campaign is 10 hours long. What did you do for the rest of the 25 hours? Complete trials? Playing with different characters? Playing with Ryu again to unlock abilities? Speedrunning?

I'm thinking of getting the game, but I might not get as much out of it as you can, for example.

Well I completed the story on Normal and Master Ninja, played a few chapter challenges with other characters, and played some online Ninja Trials. Playing as anyone other than Ryu in Chapter Challenges could be considered separate PTs, I suppose, since if you unlock a new difficulty for that mode they start with no abilities learned. Only Unknown Ninja needs to be leveled up for online modes.

I joined an Ultimate Ninja 5 room out of morbid curiosity... I can't come up with a good enough hyperbole to describe what it was like.
