It's always been possible to do these sort of dupe tricks - most of the stuff that Game Freak does with regards to game data is making sure it isn't decrypted, making sure it isn't corruptable that easily, and making sure that the Pokemon have valid stats (for tournament purposes).

I think it is safe to say that digital Pokemon is a given regardless - it would be throwing away money to not do it.

The methods in that link took dangerous/precise timing, except for DNS abuse which takes (albeit minor) technical knowledge.

SD Card restoring seems far too easy, ensuring that dupes would be even more widespread than Gen V if Game Freak doesn't think of a security measure for eShop release.

I would prefer them to stay physical in Gen6, because I don't want some Diablo 3 login bullshit to store my trainer and pokemon data up in the cloud.

Might be cool if we could have a cloud storage box or two, though! On the other hand, they would probably monetize it...

After I started trying to finish the national dex in Platinum and HeartGold by trading stuff over from Diamond, I basically gave up because this didn't exist.

I would pay for it.

The popular glitches never really took much effort to learn - I learned the GS glitch very easily, such that I could dupe myself a party of Quilava at any time (though I chose not to). The glitch in Emerald requires a similarly easy time window to execute. And of course, in Gen 4 and 5, if you didn't like to clone your own Pokemon, you could send yourself any Pokemon, with any level/stats/etc. you want, or any Pokemon from any distribution event, through various easy methods (IR-GTS, PokeGTS, Pokecheck, etc. etc...)

I still say it's not a concern for Game Freak - digital Pokemon will happen, especially since this'll be a flagship title for the 3DS.

Nintendo needs to offer a Cloud Pokemon center, where you register a trainer account. Then you can transfer all your pokemon (not one at a time) and then download them into any new game.

If these guys can put up that Pokedex Pro shit for $15 on the store, I wouldn't mind paying $40 for an cloud storage app.

Yes I'm part of the problem but me no care.

I think having a virtual trainer box though would be a great utility for everyone, including the young kids that play these games. The Pokedex thing is kinda a luxury that really is separate from the games experience. I doubt it would cost them that much to offer such a service.

Jeez, this thread moves way too fast for people like me. Whenever I get the chance, it seems, everything ever's happened without me.

I'm playing through FireRed at the moment, mainly to commemorate this recent announcement. The music's okay. Ichinose's arranged better.

It may be moving fast, but hardly anything is moving :lol

I'll be honest: I skimmed past the near-fatal thread failure. Now you guys are talking about shiny grabs again!

I can't remember if I ever caught a shiny before, though I've seen a few. Maybe there's one on my B/W save.

I booted up FR a couple days ago. Got to Brock and boy that gym leader music is trash. The hell happened?

If your hips aren't moving, something's wrong.

That's the second-best battle track in the entire game. I mean: nothing's going to top the Trainer Battle rearrangement, but Ichinose did a damn good job on the Gym Battle music. It's the legendary and Wild Battle tracks that really suffered.

Hah, I started a playthrough of Pokemon Yellow for the same reason.

Gen 1 is suprisingly shitty.

Maybe it's a factor of time, but I can't really recall what songs came from where in the pokemon series... I just kind of recognize them when I here them and soak them up as background noise.

They blend in after a while. I think it's the abrasive sound quality issues that make it difficult to distinguish them. Either the music's simple enough that the melody takes center-stage (Gen 1) or the arrangement's memorable enough to stand on its own (Gen V). Gen III's definitely in the middle, though that's why I love that generation's music so much.

I wouldn't mind a Xerneas-themed bag.

We might just have to make them ourselves. Modeled after him in a general sense, or with his likeness in print or embroidery on it?

If only I was ambitious enough to actually do this. Getting fabric I was happy with and taking the time to work on though, just not realistic.

am I still a lost cause if Gen 3 and 5 are my favorites in terms of music :p

Skarmory is the last Pokemon that needs an evolution.

Well Chancey, Porygon2, Rhydon and Dusclops didn't really need one either. If Gliscor got an evolution then why not Skarmory, I think they are sort of a pair (or maybe that was Skarmory and Mantine?).

Anyway Mantine needs to evolve as well so why not.
