Nisemonogatari announced for US release! Yay!

Oh wait... No commentaries!

Box and discs look nice, though.

And yeah, like noted, it's not a straight comparison, but it's only $30 less than the Bake release for four fewer episodes and no commentaries as far as we know.

no, I didn't... mean...

Oh...we KNOW what you meant ;)

Wow, you guys weren't kidding. K-ON!!'s OP is soooooo much worse than K-ON!'s. Like, they're not even in the same league. What were they thinking changing it?

Yes, the OP is soooo awful. Like chipmunks on speed and helium. The ED however is fantastic.

I don't know how I missed this news earlier. To commemorate 10,000 followers on the show's Twitter account, the official Kill Me Baby website has created a set of new Twitter avatar icons. What makes this special is the number of icons they decided to make: one for each of the first volume's 686 Blu-ray sales.

I love that these guys took the failure in stride and kept promoting KMB. Kudos guys.

GaoGaiGar 1

Ash Ketchum is rescued by Raiden on a North Pole Space Lion from a Garbage Horse. It makes sense in context.

XD
GGG is special. Its kind of a parody of Mecha IMO. I'm not sure how serious it actually wants to be but it cant be much.

So I've been out of anime for a while. Last 'new' show I watched was Sora no Otoshimono. I also liked Kampfer. Before that was To Love Ru.

Anything I should be looking out for along those lines?

Oh man. a fan of SNO? I like you already! You might like Haganai, Toloveru Darkness, and possibly Pet Girl of Sakurasou.

I wanted to believe there was no yuri in Tamako Market 2 as much as anyone, but I think this sequence was pretty unambiguous. I mean, look at the montage after Midori repeats (in Japanese) her grandfather's slogan "Everybody loves somebody."

It's pretty obvious where Midori's focus is.

I like how it's handled in this episode, though. She has a crush on a friend, but it doesn't turn into some sort of idolatry, an excuse for groping, or a debilitating disease that keeps her from forming complete sentences. Her feelings are shown through editing and through her reactions to some of Tamako's comments, but she still tries to maintain their normal friendship. It rings pretty true to me.

Agreed. the yuri is there but its very subtle and seems entirely genuine. Like not fanservice yuri, but actual honest affection. Its really sweet and adorable.

Fun fact: the Oreimo BD box actually costs less (before shipping) from Amazon Japan at the moment. Only 21,380 yen, or about $240 at current rates. Even with shipping I think it comes out to a bit less than the US price. No subs though, of course.

It's a god damn ripoff. I would rather they push the release to 2014, assuming there was some licensing shenanigans with the commentaries.

What's the point of even releasing it like this? They might as well make it DVD only.

Well if its the Japanese release as is, its not surprising that the American release will be more expensive what with shipping and boxes and all.

Aniplex always seems to mention the character commentaries as a selling point if they're included, so the fact it's not mentioned pretty much assures they're not in.

The Light of El Cantare
Now you can feel just like a true Japanese otaku!!

Living the dream!

Wait, no commentaries?

lol fuck that

This also ensures that I never purchase their Bakemonogatari release because I can't support baiting fans with one good set only to push gimped future installments onto the people
(me, basically)
who will buy out of completionist obligation. gg Aniplex

Noir 2-4

I actually like these random jobs that the show is starting out with. Action scenes aren't flashy or anything but Kirika makes them cool by being a badass motherfucker and moe at the same time.

Yes, Kirika is amazing.
So is another certain character who comes along. Even deadlier and more badass.

Don't worry, I'm sure that about 15 of the 25 episodes will be devoted to playing karuta at the tournaments. lol

I hope so. Love those parts!

Viz revealed they are bringing Accel World to Neon Alley

but why they spell it excel world...

What is Neon Alley? either way if theres a disc release coming, DAY 1!

Aniplex of America livepanel has revealed that Nisemonogatari will get a Blu Ray LE boxset Announced 2/26/2013. Pre-orders begin Monday, January 21, 11 eps on 5 BDs. Dual subtitle streams, 36 pg book.

I dontl ike Nise too much but....tempting.

Aniplex just confirmed an Oreimo BD release, as an import-type release. Will have the commentary videos for all episodes.

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

The joke here is this is the one moment where you don't need yuri goggles to see the shit. I mean really?

Really? Really? The fuck outta here.

calm down man. Its just a disbeliever. Shun and move on.

You and Kayos90 are further removed from reality than Kirito ever was.

OUCH.

watch this sell like hotcakes

I'm SO tempted to double dip. Guys, you need to stop me. Please stop me :(

It does look nice, but the packaging of Bakemonagatari was a bit underwhelming. Still, this has no commentaries? whats the point?

Today has been a good for me.

For one, Fringe had one of the best endings ever.

And two, the new mega has arrived, for as long as Crunchyroll exist; so Kim dotCom must exist.

Nature truly does abhor a vacuum.

Cardfight!! Vanguard 46

I guess even cardfight get fan artists that fall in love with the cards and draw them, so glad they did stuff for Meteor Break Wizard (and the other cards Goddess of the Full Moon Tsukuyomi and Oracle Think Tank, though they could have put C.E.O Amaterasu and Lozenge Magus), Misaki themed. Excellent duel for Kamui and Misaki, onto the finals.

I still have no idea wtf you are talking about but you bring some joy to this thread.

To be able to get $120 right away from anyone who wants Nisemonogatari and doesn't care about the lack of commentaries?

True. If I liked it, I would be a sucker. Luckily I didnt. Bakemonagatari set is plenty enough for me. Now that Oreimo set..... :(
Am I really satisfied with a DVD set? Its nice but....

If the point of this is to convince people to pay for anime and not pirate it, I'm not sure what non-premium premium release gets you.

Maybe there's a level of anime fan between absolute weebs (where I am at I guess) and casuals that watched Nise on CR who don't care about Japanese features. That's a weird segment to aim for though.

Like, if they charged 99 or something, then at least it could be considered a "budget" release. This release feels like the anime equivalent of releasing a first person shooter the same day that Call of Duty comes out.

Someone told me it was the end ..i guess it's better that a show ends properly rather than it get cancelled .

funny i understand what you mean , but i don't understand your conclusion or even why it's a good thing ..

I have literally no clue what you just said.

No one really does :p

See? THIS is why I passed on DVD OreImo twice. I knew this would eventually hit BluRay. I wasn't going to fall for that trap again like I did with Slayers Revolution/Evolution R. While it is expensive, compared to Fate/Zero which was like, $400 for 12 episodes, this is better and a touch more reasonable.

It did. I have it. :)

I fell for the bullshit, but it came with a ton of goodies so its not a big problem. REALLY want bluray of this though!

I need to learn Japanese so I can justify spending stupid amounts of money on this stuff.

The Haruhi BluRay box has both English subs AND the English Dub on it. Which is rare on Japanese BluRays to be sure.

To be fair, I bought it used while I was in Japan. Japanese used goods are infinitely better than American ones, they actually take care of their stuff! :O Bought for roughly $250

Watched Chihayfuru 2-2. Really loved this episode. Lots of Karuta, which was good, plus I'm liking Sumire already. Really glad its started off so strongly for me.

man... you guys really didnt see the post over at the off topic board consering Mega did you?

Kim DotCom is no better than the CEO's of Crunchyroll.
The diffence is that Kim never "truly" made a dime from Megaupload
Crunchyroll...well you get the idea.

so if Crunchyroll can escape the "feds" than Kim DotCom should do the same thing.

Castle in the Sky (spoilers and such)

Y'all need to get away from your yuri and your girls doing cute things in high school once in a while and watch beautiful stuff like this. Yes, I realize I'm probably the only one in this thread who hasn't seen this yet, but I don't care. Watch this again sometime soon. Or Spirited Away.

The opening credits say this film is from 1986, and the animation kind of shows its age. But I like the charm of it. There were a handful of gorgeous scenes, most namely the etherium rocks glowing in the cave and the first time they arrive at Laputa when they're in the garden. Though I thought the scene where the robot was blowing the fuck out of the fortress was beautiful in a dark sort of way, basically with Sheeta's shock and horror of it all.

I like how the prologue and the opening point the pirates out to be the villains in the whole thing. And even in the end, their motives were not exactly noble. But the way in which they grew attached to Sheeta and Pazu was lovely, especially when they're reunited at the end. The villain ended up being the agent with the military, who has royal blood from Laputa just like Sheeta. This part wasn't exactly surprising; you could see he was bad news. He sported sunglasses and smirk for crying out loud.

Um...I've run out of things to say. But I love this movie and if you don't then you are a butthead.

Living in the shadow of Amaz
Alright so, long story short, I'm retiring from GAF. Not anything to do with you guys, just that posting here (and other places on the internet, including the IRC) constantly is a distraction that I can no longer afford. I may or may not come back later on down the line, but for right now I'm done. :(

Actually, I'll probably make the occasional post on Gaming if something big happens and maybe show up here to give quick impressions on what I'm currently watching, but nothing more. Just can't do it anymore.

Sasami, Haganai, and Minami-ke are still pretty good and I have no desire to watch Tamako 2. Maybe one of these days... Hopefully others here will be able to take on the SHAFT banner in my stead!

Godspeed!

:(

RICK'S BREAD SP1

The girls go to the beach to help heat up RICK'S BREAD and make it rise the only way they know how. Such dedication to making the best RICK'S BREAD.

I had a feeling entering this thread tonight was a mistake.

There's more Rick's Bread and I'm obligated to watch it due to the promise from last year.

I'm gonna watch Chihayafuru, lie down and have a good cry.

Spring will also skip Noitamina :(

(Then again, with Psycho-Pass and Robotics:Note I've pretty much passed on Noitamina for Fall/Winter anyway)
