Long auction means that there is a strong demand for the assets? I guess that's good? I just hope that something happens with most of the IPs. It sucks to see things mothballed and forgotten because no one wants to do anything with them.

Really hope Sega gets Relic. They have established themselves as a good PC publisher. Sports Interactive and Creative Assembly have been doing very well under Sega. Would like to see Relic there as well.

Crazy to think of the turn around in overall theme that Sega has made but I totally agree.

The sales hearing would have been then, but the auction is still going, so it got delayed.

Jeff Gerstmann is desperately fighting for the rights to Saints Row and is currently using his Game Of The Year debating experience to acquire the IP as well as nominating Koch Media as Disappointment Of The Year.

Honestly, if they get Relic, their PC output will likely be more notable than their console and handheld output combined at this point, which is pretty much as far away from what they used to be as you can get.

Just got called a "bidding troll" by some IT guy @ THQM.

My feelings are hurt :/

Get angry, meet them in the ring:

Well I have high hopes they can atleast make a fun game, something Yukes! games were not. Plus EA will sink more resources into the game to atleast make it look more polished and professional. I can't wait to see what they do with PS4. The wrestlers will look incredible. The game might start out a little rough, but it will definitely get better every year.

You know EA has made wrestling games in the past right and not that long ago? Go look up WCW Mayhem or the fabulous Backstage Assault before you get excited.

I wonder what will happen to Yuke's. Weren't they solely making WWE and UFC titles?

EDIT: Apparently they own 54% of New Japan Pro-Wrestling. I guess they'll survive.

They DID own 54% of NJPW, until Jan 2012, when they sold off their shares to some Japanese card game company called Bushiroad

I would like to read this thread but I'm just popping in on my lunch..

Question

What's the fate of the South Park title?

I'm almost entirely positive EA would just make the games in Canada with the same sub-studio doing Fight Night and UFC.

Highest bid yesterday, not necessarily winner.

They used AKI for their Def Jam games, but didn't AKI rebrand or something?

Edit: Are THQ San Diego up for auction today? They did a good job with WWE All-Stars.

San Diego is long gone, most people have already landed at other companies. EA is not getting the WWE license unless something crazy happens.

Yuke's also make pachinko games, which is a very healthy business for them. They also recently acquired the Lingerie Football League license...

I don't think my heart can take this anymore. Untrue rumors about EA buying Relic, then strong indications of Sega acquiring Relic. It's a rollercoaster ride, that's for sure.

I don't think there was ever a rumor that EA was buying Relic so much as they were one of the only strategic fits and showed interest in evaluating the studio.

I'm following @VancouverTim (Bish?) and @DDInvesting. Anything else?

Watch out for VancouverTim - he mentioned Relic was all fired yesterday so take it with a grain of salt.

EDIT: I'm wrong, not VancouverTim. It was someone else.

Anyone want to pitch in and buy the Homeworld IP and make them release it on GoG and Steam? Otherwise it'll get relegated to obscurity and we'll might never ever see a digital release of them :(

Looks like the minimum bid is 500k according to reports, which is why Crytek got Homefront for 500k. So, if anyone is a half millionaire...
