Has Nintendo Convinced You to Buy a Wii U Yet?

Then next time explain yourself better because "I have no indications on how the game plays from short videos" and "I want to try them first to see if i like them" are totally different things and don't be upset if you will be attacked because instead of explaining yourself better you response is "hahahah wth".

No reasonable person would think anyone would need to know how a side-scroller plays or how Bayonetta 2 will be like Bayonette 1. Just random unhinged attacks. I'm not going to write posts trying to preempt irrational attacks from people.

Nope. WW is not exactly my favorite Zelda and Mario Kart has long since lost its appeal to me. Really though Nintendo exclusive have all lost their appeal for the most part. It's really becoming more of the same and quite formulaic.

I knew from the start that I would be getting Wii U eventually, just not that soon. That hasn't changed, but I'm looking forward to that day a lot more now.

why are people re posting this ? This looks bland and empty as hell

Of course not. Half that stuff was guaranteed anyway so in my mind you'd either have one already based on the IP promise, or you'd wait until something actually came out and reviewed positively. Nothing should change in the interim.

I'm also waiting for a less abysmal iteration of the controller (battery wise).

I always knew i was going to buy a WiiU at some point. The question was when (depending on the release of Monolith's next game and the next Zelda).

But now after seeing those screens for Wind Waker i think i'll get one this fall.

Mods can't be everywhere at once, but they'll come around. Some people better pray or get some quick edits.

That too, I wasn't actually thinking in terms of bans though. It feels like some people take it so far, even other posters won't bother calling them out because things read like crazy talk. That bit about getting paid to stuff a system in a closet was hilarious though.

Such as?

Last I looked, this is a question to all members following this Direct. I think any opinion and justification is perfectly valid.

I think he or she is referring to the general defensive tone by some posters, in addition to the somewhat hostile replies to the people who aren't interested.

Not at all. Expected line-up from the beginning. "Working" unit for this Summer with the updates ? So :

Will wait to see what MS and Sony will offer so this all will look pale in comparison.

Yet your words in the first post said the exact opposite hence the "attack" hence the suggestion of explaining yourself better next time

I think the development resources on most of the games are wasted as we can see here. Hardcore gamers are to busy playing their beloved dudebro games. The better strategy would have been wii sports u, wii play u, mario and sonic u, wii music u etc. At least they are making wii fit u and wii party.

I feel all giddy and want to buy one right this second, but then I look at what's out and know it will just collect dust until Bayonetta 2, Pikmin 3, or The Wonderful 101 are released... so yes and no. I'm convinced. I just want something for the here and now to buy the time until the awesomeness arrives.

No. They haven't. It is going to be hard for them to gain my trust back after the Wii, and how they fucked over the hardware on this thing.

I was always going to buy one. The question is just when.

Wind Waker HD is potentially a big one for me. If that and Bayonetta 2 come out around the same time, and all the weirdness with the UI and online stuff is improved, I can see myself buying a WiiU for those two games.

I would have to get previews on how those games played to be hyped about them. Otherwise, they're just games that look like current gen games.

You're failing the test for reasonability, here. And you make a lot of bad assumptions.

Maybe you're reading "how those games ARE played"??? Otherwise, I don't see how this is particularly confusing.

While I disagree with him it's obvious that he meant new as in new IP or something along those lines, try a better reply next time.

Nope, it's not obvious ;)

he should have tried a better comment and you should have tried a better reply.

idk what "X", "MegaTen x Fire Emblem", "The Wonderful 101", and some others, are for you.

Are those sequels?

Thing is, Nintendo could have postponed launch of their console for a year, had a more ambitious and competitive system architecture that will stand up to the next gen Xbox and Playstation and had a killer launch lineup. Probably would have beaten Sony and MS to their next console launches even if they had attempted to match or exceed their hardware.

Instead, they rush current-gen hardware out the door at next-gen pricing and have a weak launch window (year?). Frustrating..............

f-zero, star fox and an announcement for another awesome adventure game that isn't zelda and definitely not metroid and I would strongly reconsider waiting for a price drop instead of just the next Mario (I'd have to still get one of the ps4 or xbox too though).

I was wondering the same thing. Looks like Generic Game 2000 that sells poorly on 360/PS3 already.

So this is your sequel to the post in the Fire Emblem demo thread where you said it was akin to a dime a dozen SPRGs on iOS and when asked for what games you were talking about you linked to a 20-post thread that hardly contained any games. Go ahead and link to some "Generic Game 2000" videos that you speak of.

If you consider we already knew there would be another Zelda, another Mario Kart, and another 3D Mario game.

I don't find what was announced impressive at all as a Wii U owner.

Yes.

But I still want to wait and see if there are going to be any special editions/revisions/price drops, etc. before I buy one. Honestly, they sold me on Bayonetta 2, Wonderful 101, and Pikmin 3, but today's announcements have all but solidified it.

I still can't see non-nintendo fans being that interested, though. I feel like they've done a good job today of bringing back some "stray sheep" but in terms of getting a broader base, they've got a long way to go.

There were better things on that trailer X100. That freaking boss, battle etc.

Well, it's nothing really flashy in the grand scheme of it, as there are plenty of open world games that look better but it's very competent and there's def a context to it. I mean, for a JRPG being able to pile into a mech and fly over an open world, that's pretty neat. Big, open world campaign driven JRPGs are fairly rare, especially on consoles nowadays. I mean, look at people going gaga over Ni No Kuni's SNES/PSone style'd SD overworld. Low tech as shit, but it's just something you contextually don't see a lot for that style of game too often.

In a twist, though, this is the most earth-toned open world game I've seen in awhile. :p That doesn't really bug me, although I do have to say that I'm a little disappointed (not a lot) with some of the general rendering. It's got that same kind of vibe that occurred going from FFXI to FFXIV where things just seem...a little off? For my tastes anyway. Looks a bit less hand-detailed and more vaguely CGish, I guess.

They've won me over. It's not a matter of if anymore, but when. Largely because of my broke ass. I'll pick one up after they've completed the OS optimizations, definitely before the end of the year.

Was always going to buy one. Grew up with Nintendo and I can't see myself ditching them no matter how many times they kick me in the nuts.

Have they convinced me to buy one right away? Not really. Most of the announcements seem pretty far away. Hopefully E3 provides some solid release dates.

Today was a good day though. Definitely more excited about getting a Wii U than befor. And with Smash Bros and 3D Mario on the horizon for E3, it should get even better.

No, i'm failing my test of reading the whole thread apparently. I totally skipped that post and thought that this was your first one
Sorry Iwata-san. I didn't say I only care about graphics. I said I get no indications about how the game plays from short videos and would wait on impressions. Otherwise, they only look like current gen games that give me no reason to buy a new $300 system.
my bad.

I was always going to get one eventually, but these announcements made me a bit more optimistic about the platform's future.

Mere talk about upcoming games does not convice me to buy a system. I have to be able to play them when I purchase the system.

I am definately happy my wife got me a WiiU for xmas though. The upcoming games make me feel more relief than excitement though. I was really setting myself up for a long drought.

Will buy one as soon as Wind Waker drops.

It was always gonna be my Zelda Mario Smash machine, so i'm a OK with that. X and fire emblem are icing, as is bayonetta 2, so it's all good.

Need that iwata pit bull gif again. Was spot on.

No I already played Wind Waker years ago. An HD port is not a system seller. If they had shown footage of a new Zelda game, then maybe I would have to re-think my stance.
