Really disappointed that Volition went to Deep Silver though... just doesn't seem like a good fit. Who knows though, maybe they'll become a big player?

Why? Of all the publishers out there Deep Silver will probably let Volition get away with some crazy shit in SR4. Certainly more than a publisher like EA.

For those wondering, WWE executed an out clause in their contract and are negotiating their own deal with a "prominent sports game publisher". So it's either EA or 2K that will be getting them.

Wait, so Koch Media now owns Volition but not Saints Row? The fuck?
Please tell me it's implied they own the IPs too!

What's happening to Homeworld/Dawn of War?

I'll be super sad if Homeworld, Dawn of War AND Dark Siders go down the drain :(

Sega agreed to purchase Relic

Great to hear!! Good fit and good publisher.

Koch Media agreed to purchase Volition and Metro

Wierd....really weird. Not sure about this.

Crytek agreed to purchase Homefront

Why would they even bother? Didn't homefront bomb?

Take 2 agreed purchase Evolve

Great that turtle rock is doing ok.

Ubisoft agreed to purchase Montreal and South Park

Eeeesh.... I hope this doesn't mess South Park up too badly.

RIP Vigil

Damn shame. Huge damn shame. Haven't played their games but I've heard good things. Best of luck to all of them.

This is the craziest way this could have ended. Incredible stuff. Volition goes to Dead Island guys? EA got nothing?

I'm actually excited to see what the publishers of Dead Island / the X hardcore space sim series / the Risen / Gothic series will do with Volition.

So Crytek is independant? I thought they were owned by EA. Also, who got Red Faction?[/QUOTE]

Good question?

- Crytek agreed to purchase Homefront
Ya know what, I like this move as long as they fix all the errors that were made when originally launching the game. So much potential here,

- Ubisoft agreed to purchase Montreal [Nirolak's Note: Patrice's game and perhaps Volition Montreal] and South Park

Rejoice SP fans.... The ginger clothed fatboy game is safe...

I will post this here as well

So Relic going to Sega, Fuck Yes on that. I believe I said Sega would be a perfect fit for Relic when this auction was first announced, but I wasn't sure if they would be interested in grabbing them. I can't think of a better outcome.

Anyway is it safe to assume that Sega got Company of Heroes along with Relic? Do we have any word on if they picked up the IP?

I can't believe Sega actually bought Relic. That was a dream scenario. Never though it would actually come true.

I like it too.. Volition to EA or 2K would've been a weird fit. I like it. Just really surprised at who bought who.

I asked this in the other thread but did THQ still own the rights to Stuntman? If so, I would have thought that Ubisoft might buy it for Ubisoft Reflections to revisit in the future.

Pretty sad to see Vigil not being adopted. On the plus side, they haven't been secured by EA, Activision or Zenimax. On the negative side, they could be bought out by either one of the three or die.

Come on, Square-Enix. Buy out Vigil, expand them and give them Legacy of Kain.

Vigil didn't get snapped up by someone? I find that very surprising. The Darksiders ip may not be worth a lot but the studio behind it was pretty talented.

Agreed. Even if you didn't want the Darksiders IP I would think that a company that put out a solid Zelda clone as their first project would be talented enough that someone would want them. Surely a good project manager or director hired on by a new owner could use a team that talented to do just about anything.

I've never had any great affinity for THQ's games, but reading that letter definitely gave me some feels. I hope as many people as possible can land on their feet through the transition.

I can't believe the big guns weren't going crazy over Volition/Saints Row.

I doubt Koch would have won if they had been.

I feel real good about Deep Silver. I think they'll leave Volition alone and not tamper with them too much which is all I really want from whoever's publishing Saints Row.

It says THQ will try to find buyers for Vigil etc but in the same letter that their positions will end?

I'm guessing there are still assets and IPs to manage.
Weren't Vigil still working on that Warhammer 40k game? I remember they said they were transitioning it from MMO to single player game, but not much after that last year.

"Purchasing" South Park and Metro is just purchasing the publishing rights, correct? I thought the IPs (obviously with South park) were owned by entities other than THQ.

I like Relic at SEGA, they have experience publishing and promoting strategy games so...fingers crosses that works out.

Overall I'm mostly happy with the outcome...
- Relic is safe with Sega
- Volition will probably be able to go fucking NUTS with Saints Row 4 now
- South Park is relatively safe (though uplay ugh)

Biggest bummer is the Vigil news. =(

The rumor is the evil empire aka EA. So the wait for a good WWE game will continue.

EA MMA was quite good. I don't see how EA would be any worse than THQ when it comes to the WWE games. OH NO THEYLL MILK IT WITH DLC- oh wait THQ did that too

I can't believe Sega actually bought Relic. That was a dream scenario. Never though it would actually come true.

I've had good experiences with Sega recently (Binary Domain), but what exactly is the reason for this sentiment? (other than hell yeah: company of heroes 2 lives)
