Dear XSEED,

With the recent news about Pandora's Tower localization is really hard not asking for another great game that has not reached our continent yet, I'm talking about Project Zero 2 (known as Fatal Frame 2 in America), I wonder if the comapny would bring this game over here, it seems you have build a loyal niche fan base that seek your releases on Wii, now that your relationship with Nintendo seems quite close, there are chances for Project Zero 2?

Thanks, for Pandora's Tower and Last Story!

Hello Sebastian,

Afraid that we have no intention of trying to publish any Fatal Frame titles. Speaking to Tecmo Koei America is going to be your best bet for that title.

Ken @ XSEED Games

Seems like I will have to import u_u

We were only going to get able to get one Wii localization out of XSEED this year, and everybody wasted it on Pandora's Tower.

Fantastic.

It's really refreshing, in this industry of "no comment" and "we have not announced plans for this," to see the people at XSEED actually act like human beings when they talk to fans.

One thing to keep in mind is that localizers don't always have the final say in a contract, on whether or not they can acquire a particular game.

This is from the Kotaku interview sometime ago:

"Most of the big names that people keep requesting from us over the years, we've been in talks on," Berry said. "There's a couple that we were right there... like one that would've pretty much shocked the industry if we could've announced it. But for whatever reason, at the very end, maybe some executives at the company just realized that this brand is too important to their company to license out to another company. Even if their U.S. branch isn't going to publish it, they can't let anyone else publish it."

So just because they aren't going to localize it does it mean that they haven't tried or haven't bothered looking at it. They never said that much in the original email. ALL they said is that they aren't releasing it.

I can see why they won't. It's not like any of the Fatal Frame games were a part of Operation Rainfall, or seen a moderately sized internet petition.

I wish Nintendo or Tecmo would do a FF2+FF4 "HD" dual release on the Wii U. I'm pretty sad that I'll never get a chance to play these. :(

Um what? The same Project Zero 2 that was remade (and near ruined IMO) for the Wii?

Ruined? Only thing that bums me out is the lack of mission mode, especially because the OT for the game even mentions it :D

This is a shame though, family member picked it up for me along with Siren Blood Curse (retail uncensored) and Pandora's Tower when they were in London so I've had these for a while. Certainly worth playing, hope they make it over eventually.

Both Wii games can be played over Dolphin in glorious HD without any troubles. Even with a gamepad. Fan-made translations of FF4 also exist out on the web somewhere.

What was ruined in the remake? The redesign of the main characters?

I'd take PT over pretty much anything NOA skipped out on except maybe Reginliev.

Tecmo [Koei] should've been bringing FF4/2R themselves anyway once NOA passed them over. Same for SW3XL.

Not really.

It has a really great world design and a neat story concept, but the actual game is really boring. Also the voice acting is going to be really bad if XSEED just keeps the European dub.
The voice acting in PT is great, what are you talking about?

Oh yeah Reginleiv. Whatever happened to that game? I remember there being lots of hype for that game when it was shown during a Nintendo E3 sizzle reel.

The redesign of the ghosts, which ended up making them (for me anyway) much less intimidating then their PS2 counterparts, particularly the Kusabi.

Ended up trading in my Wii as well as the game itself after that disappointment.

I agree completely. In fact, on a somewhat related note XSEED's recent post on the EU Playstation blog regarding Orgarhythm, and their communication in the comments below, struck me as being particularly honest and open.

I ended up purchasing Orgarhythm and Corpse Party soon after said blog post, at least in part influenced by the wish to support such a publisher. As you say, very refreshing to see.

still can't believe they brought over spirit camera, that terrible spinoff which they actually DOUBLED the retail price of for its US release, and not the actual mainline game.

Yup, and they've always been like this. Shot them an e-mail back in 2007 partly to thank them for taking a chance on Wild ARMs 4/Shadow Hearts 3 when no one else would, and partly to beg them to look at other series. Received a fairly lengthy, non-automated reply that left me elated.

I'm really not a fan of digital distribution, but I think I've picked up a release copy of just about everything they've physically published since.

Fatal Frame is such an awful title and only serves to cause brand confusion.

To respond to the OP, no surprises here, mentioned the same thing in the Pandora's Tower announcement thread. Tecmo Koei America is the company North American gamers need to be contacting to show you are interested, maybe they'd put it out during the spring/summer lull.

What region are you trying to get Fatal Frame 2 released in? NA and EU got it already.

Thread is about the remake Project Zero 2: Wii Edition that was localised and published by Nintinedo Europe last summer.

Pandora's Tower is absolutely superb. You're crazy.

Also, XSEED can do this, yet Atlus can't tell us that they're not translating Eternal Punishment. Hurm. :/

Not the same as Pandora's Tower has already been localised into English thanks to Nintendo Europe.

I agree, Pandora's Tower has some camera issues, the combat is very clunky, and the image quality is poor. I would prefer Fatal Frame 2. But, oh well....

well, people on here love them some Nier, so i'm sure they won't mind too much.

oh yes i did.

Depends. Nobody's taken this comment to its logical conclusion.

XSEED Clueless About Japanese Market

While the typical Japanese man may know what this game is, in the US, such games are virtually unheard of and thusly unpopular. The home dwelling white male tends to play a game called CoD which curiously has no fishing rod controller available for it.

I don't understand what this has to do with anything.

So its the best game on wii then?

I know that you were being sarcastic, but it's actually amongst my favourite Wii games. The story is vastly more interesting than The Last Story, in my opinion.

FF2 is on two other consoles though, and has been for years. Pandora's Tower is a new game.
