LEGO GAF |OT2|: Building Dreams. Demolishing Wallets

Looks like mine came without. Saw it mentioned somewhere online that the coupon is included only in catalogs that are sent out to addresses withing a 10 mile radius. Do you have a LEGO store with that range?

Oh, I already own all three. Just trying to decide what order to build in. :)
Do mini modulars after Fire Brigade. You will appreciate it a lot more after doing the full sized versions.

The Creator sets this year have been on fire. Was Jamie in charge of the division last year as well? Ignoring the Expert stuff, Creator this year is even better than last year. I can't wait to see what else Summer brings for the line.

I hope we get another BIG creator creature. Those are my favorite and it seems like a while since there has been one. I have the Ninjago epic dragon and it just isn't as good as the Creator dragons. (Not as poseable, durable or stable, and to many stickers and specialized peices).

Creator creatures? All I have is the dinosaur set and fierce flyer. But a creator dragon sounds amazing.

You can buy the current Creator dino set and make a giant snake with it. The instructions are here.

WTF?! Is this some Clone Wars nonsense?!

Ahh...

75018 Jeks-14 Stealth Starfighter … a set which appears to be from the Yoda Chronicles, I believe … and whilst the ship was on display, none of the minifigures were present. The ship itself is a black & red starfighter, looking a little like a beefy version of the Z95 Headhunter (at least to me). The figures are listed as Jek-14, Separatist Bounty Hunter, Special Forces Clone Trooper and a droid called R4-G0. Price point £59.99.

I have one in an under 10 mile range.

They've made two of them, but both are pretty old. We probably won't get another for a while, because they'll be saving their dragon energies for Smaug. But they've also done large dinos and lions and so forth, so I'm hoping for another one of them.

Yeah, but that's not big. I want BIG. :p

That family house is awesome.

Nice photo. I'm glad I picked these up whenever I found a sale (only for the dinosaurs). The figs and sets did nothing for me beyond being good parts. Well, the HQ actually is pretty cool, but meh on the rest. Dat raptor though...

I'm actually kind of digging the dino hunter minifigs tbh.

The line was more vehicle based, but I still like the JP vibe they give off, and there are some nice elements in them.

We picked up the T-Rex Helicopter set but are saving it for a valentine's surprise for my son. He's going to be pumped about the Rex.

But yeah, overall their strength is definitely still in the figures. Overall though it's a nice set to have in the collection.

;p

I still see Dino sets around here and am still on the fence. The figures are awesome, but the sets just do nothing for me. I might cave someday, but money spent for a few pieces and mini figures I want can go towards sets I REALLY want.

It's "squint or you'll miss it" Monday!

Much thanks! How do you do this? I have several LEGO feeds and you come out with stuff before them or stuff they don't even have.

Time for me to take out a 2nd mortgage and get that creator house which probably will need a tree house. LEGO please stop making too many good sets!

Guys I need your help. Trying to make a custom mini figure that requires wings, or even angel wings. Any ideas of where I can pull from?

The dino figures really are the big draw, and they're fantastic. The smaller vehicle sets are OK, but nothing out of the ordinary. The base is a decent build, but a bit repetitive and it only really comes together if you start to modify it and add features/scenery.

I'd love to see the Dino range get a second run, as the figures deserve better sets. In the meantime, I'd suggest you pick up the figures you want - most can be had relatively reasonably through Bricklink, IIRC - and just MOC your own bases/outposts/vehicles.

Just paid for my R2D2 :D excited! First build since my superstar destroyer and from the comments I've read it should be a lot of fun.

I'm liking the look of that new creator house, is that a light brick inside?

I'm holding for that one and the tree house. Both look a little more fleshed out, with space for some custom furniture and with more MOC-potential than the current Apple Tree house or the Log Cabin (Small Cottage doesn't even count...) . Bad part is that I'm sure it's going to be at least 60€ each...

Nah, Creator sets are nicely priced, and can get quite good deals online too.

Apple Tree House is actually tiny and cramped (almost borderline unusable) in the inside and it's like 42€ MSRP, so I guess these ones being bigger and more complex will most likely be in the 60€ tier.

Just built this tiny "set" if you can even call it that as it's really just a couple pieces BUT:

I only tracked this down on BL to get Cole (or an easy Ninja anyway) so i quickly threw this together just for the hell of it and i am pleasantly surprised by how clean and simple, almost puristic it looks! Captures this raw essence of feudal age Japan quite well with the neat little oriental touches like the leaves, or that lamp (i assume it IS a lamp).

Are there any other more traditional looking sets in the entire Ninjago line that do NOT feature crazy huge mechanized vehicles that look like they belong in a cheap Sci-Fi movie but rather capture the spirit of feudal age japan in a more tranquil and serene way like this one does? And if not, which ones can be recommended for other reasons then?

This is why I preferred the 1st year of Ninjago to the second, as they had a lot more of sets like you pictured above. Some other examples/suggestions:

2507 Fire Temple (my favorite)

I was in TrU this morning and picked up a poly for my daughter (some Harry Potter one). When I was checking out the clerk motioned to a box filled with Elrond poly bags and asked if I wanted some. Apparently a few stores got extra shipments this week even though they already fulfilled all of the game's pre orders....so they are just handing them out.

Not a big deal but I thought it was worth mentioning.

The Fire Temple looks pretty good indeed, thanks for the pics!

Hmm, too bad it comes with Sensei Wu in his black outfit which i already have and not the all white one :(, it also comes with Zane and Kai which i don't have yet in their regular outfits which i prefer vastly to those PowerRangeresque suits!

Shame this set is pretty expensive to get nowadays

Had a successful visit to the Santa Clara LEGO store this morning. Picked up the Power Mech set and successfully guess/felt both the Knight & Space Ork series 9 minifigs.

There is also the brand new 2013 set, 70505 Temple of Light, but that does come with a mech.

Yeah i've seen the Brickshow review for that one and... while the temple looks decent i think that Fire Temple has it beat and that Dragon has the mech beat as well, though this one is a LOT cheaper and comes with white Wu and a golden Ninja hmmmm decisions decisions as a pure display piece the Fire Temple looks miles better though ugh

I put together the Power Mech to get a feel for the pieces. It has some pretty interesting pieces in the set. I immediately got an idea for a MOC in my mind, but I'm worried it will be common and someone else may do the same type of thing. :lol

Oh well, it will be my first MOC anyways so no big deal.

I bought a ton of 1st wave Ninjago, almost none of the second and I just picked up the Temple of Light from the last wave. I even sold the minifigs and the mech and made 80% of my money back from it, since all I wanted was the temple anyways.

Okay I have a question of taste from LEGO GAF.

Which of these beds and/or bed frames do you prefer?

ualM0L3.jpg

If you don't like any of them, post your preferred type of bed if you can. I'm curious! :D

How about you take the middle blue one, with the white headboard. Remove the head headboard piece that consist of the 1x1 round dot studs. Then raise the white flat 2x1 by a full block.

I assume the white 1x2 blocks are the pillows? In the one in looking at it has 2 cheese slope pieces and remind me of pillows. Make the cheese slopes white perhaps? The square pillows with the curved bedspread kinda ruins it for me a bit.

I like the 1st one on the left.

Any particular reason? Color or simplicity?

I actually didn't have another navy blue flat tile lol. I have a compass one but I dunno. XD I imagine the compass image would kinda ruin the whole bed. But yeah you're right, the pillows WERE off putting but I don't have anymore rounded frames.

I like the 6th bed and 1st or 2nd's head frame. Just don't like the frame on the 6th one.
