Eleven comments telling me to avoid Guilty Crown. Guess I'll be avoiding it then. I'll have to prepare myself to finally watch Gintama anyway.

If it makes you feel better about not watching it, I'm sure other people here could tell you more about great soundtracks attached to terrible shows.

OH.MY.GOD!

This whole episode is EPIC! AWESOME!. Not only Shinsegumi and Miwararigumi joining forces,
Norio Wakamoto joins in, every single police force joins in. All being lead by the motherfucking badass Shogun!! $!@#!%$!^!@!
. Also this have a nice Tsuki concern for Gintoki just for Firehawk12.

To finish this off is the
Tendoshu
involving themselves and the epic fight conclusion between Gintoki and Oboro. MY HEAD CANNOT CONTAIN THE AWESOMENESS OF THIS EPISODE!!!

Thank you based Sorachi.

Gintama' 260

The bad: Internet connection issues which broke up the flow of the episode.

The AWESOMENESS: Everything else.

Good stuff. They've joked about Gintoki not having a "special attack". This proves he doesn't need one. If anything his special skill is his adaptability. Man though, the amount of stuff packed in to this arc, especially the past two episodes. All those reruns were worth it ten fold.

2013 AOTY HYPE TRAIN starts here!

With all of the recent Gunbuster/Diebuster talk, I thought I'd share a crappy iPhone pic of two of my favorite figures:

I've also got the Super Robot Chogokin version of the Gunbuster coming next month:

Think I'm about due for a Gunbuster rewatch now :).

Man. I want that Gunbuster figure!

If you haven't begun watching Gintama yet, start. Sorachi knows how to keep things constantly good while injecting brief bursts of "OH MY GOD HECK YEAHHHHHH!!!!!" at just the moments.

"Just do it!"

Edit: Anyone have a gif of the moment Kamui shivers in excitement when Gintoki faces off against Housen? I believe that is an appropriate gif for these episodes.

So there was some Azunyan vs Anko talk earlier and I just wanted to briefly chime in on that. I don't think this is a fair comparison - in fact, I'm not even sure that I see the comparison. While they are both arguably adorable, Akno is still just a kid. Azunyan, on the other hand, is a fully grown woman. But her appeal isn't just in her looks - she is also unintentionally moe, without any excuse (whereas Anko has reason to be). Despite her maturity in other areas, her density to contextual situations (as well as her ability to be easily manipulated) is highly unbecoming of her own self perceptions! In this sense she becomes a paradox unto herself. A lovable walking contradiction who is constantly the epitome of what she tries so hard not to be. Her frustrations and refusal to accept this is easily projectable for any average person. While one could certainly treat Azunyan as a woman (and expect her body to respond as one) she is also capable of satisfying the viewer's lustful desire for innocence at the same time. Azunyan is not only a complex character study, but a reflection, and commentary of our own needs.
You lost me at "fully grown woman."

Looks like Robotics;Notes BD volume 1 managed to sell somewhere between 1,200 and 1,300 copies in its first week. That at least gets it on the Fall 2012 Temporal List... albeit in last place as far as non-zero numbers go. Also, the Zetsuen no Tempest volume 1 BD sold about 800, bringing its BD+DVD total to about 1,800.

Thanks, Kurita, for bringing Kagi no Kakatta Heya to my attention. I'm only three episodes in so far, but it's definitely entertaining. It's like a fresher Detective Conan.

Japanese fans must have really disliked the Robotics;Notes game. This is the complete opposite of Steins;Gate's rising popularity. Lol.

Liar Game season 2

Dayum, even better than the first season.
Everything was just over-the-top. The Russian Roulette, the Poker... everything was amazing. Akiyama was as boss as ever, Katsuragi was an amazing rival, always out-smarting Akiyama.
But in the end, Akiyama is still da man. Everybody is saved, feels good man, yadda yadda. Mindfucks everywhere, betrayals everywhere, as always in Liar Game you know.
Nao hasn't really changed, she's still innocent, pure... But in the end that's what you want, you wouldn't like to see her become an asshole like the other players.
Now I have to watch the movie "The Final Stage" to see what happens in... well, the final stage with Akiyama and Fukunaga. Can't wait.

I think I'll read the manga next, it's so good.

The movie didn't living up the hype though, but I agree this LA series was great overall.

You need to watch Rookies, man.

Crying so hard for Blast of Tempest, I hope this wont affect its merchandising potential.

Anyway, at least both series are licensed for here in some form, hopefully Aniplex and Funimation pursue disc rights for both series.

Carnival Phantasm 10th Anniversary Special
What a nice surprise to come home from work and find this waiting for me. It was pretty good, though the Shirou/Shiki stuff took up a larger portion than the episode than I would have preferred it to. Now they need to make another season of this.

Gintama - 38~39

Looks like the next arc is going to be good.

Polar Bear Cafe - 42

I would follow the Penguin's 100 ways to manage your life...zzzz....

Alright, here's the exact numbers for the extended BD sales list, January 21-27.

-- (*88) *68 **,298 35,819 *14 Sword Art Online v1
-- (*99) *28 **,271 *4,896 **3 K v4
As noted, Robotics;Notes and Zetsuen no Tempest formally land at the bottom of the temporal charts, with 1,235 and 1,911 respectively (and Ixion Saga somewhere between the two).
Also, that pitiful 345 BDs for BTOOOM! BD volume 3 are the first numbers we've ever seen for it, to give some perspective on how badly it bombed. Though to be fair we didn't have the super-extended lists around for the first couple volumes, I think.

The 1,691 sales for the Star Driver BD box aren't so kiraboshi, but what can you do sometimes.

One more random stat. Sengoku Collection has finally reached the end of its disc release, and the final per-volume BD+DVD average as it stands now is 2,442.

Oops, one more: Natsuiro Kiseki is also finished, with an average of 2,986.

GINTAMA 244-247 THORNY arc

Well this arc wasn't bad .i can honnestly think of plenty of positives for this arc:
-several new characters that kick ass
-excellent animation during episode 246
-nice backstory on several characters
-the promise of more to come with a grand scheme that seem to be formed ( i hope i get to see them again soon )

Gintama%20-%20246.jpg

don't smile at me like that guys..

Well i didn't enjoy this arc as much as i should have.. there is this light feelign of "more to come".... it was a decent appetizer but i hope more of them will come.

Despite all the good things that were used , this arc is clearly the weakest by far since i've restarted gintama for the 2011 run.
They better do better next time!! After the 4diva arc i can't accept anything less than awesome or legendary ...do better sunrise !

VERDICT ( arc ) : GOOD
VERDICT ( ep 246 ) : EXCELLENT

Does anyone still have the Makoto gifs where she was being super cute in the carriage?
I think Neo C. made those you probably remember (http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=32222974&postcount=10163), but TinyPic is now gone from this forum, so take these I just made instead:

Excuse the lack of optimization (particularly average quality and archive size), I'm not used to making '.GIFs' as I don't habitually do any. I'm sure those could have come up much better.

You're just fine, noble /XX/, we are above shooting the messenger here. Now that I know about this Astruc guy, though...
Thanks for your understanding! I think I'd be a fool to blame Mr. Astruc for leaving sparse and cryptic information, also because of me trying to see and catch something that wasn't really there. As the man responsible, director and author, of such a considerably big transmedia project I don't think he is on a reasonable position to be saying things (dropping hints) lightly anyway. I respect him.

Really awesome episode. Love the Itachi Naruto moments and then Sasuke being their topic of discussion, save him Naruto and bring him back, help paint this canvas a good colour. Im glad it covered at least two chapters, I still remember reading this scene it looked so much better and kind of a bit more disgusting animated.

I didn't even find her to be that cute. Mainly because of her stupidity (not because she's kawaii), but perhaps this is the point. Noriko is also a "kawaii" girl, as you put it, but she has the fitness and agility of a well trained athlete. Her body was full, but firm. She was human and emotional, but her true beauty was in her ability to put herself second and make a sacrifice despite herself, and despite her feelings. That is why she's easier to masturbate to than Nono, don't you think?
Yeah, and Nono is the slender
Goddess of the Solar System, an ethereal high and mighty figure that watches for humanity's well being.
But that is her entrusted role, and after all... what we have in essence from her?
A righteous while at the same time scared of her own responsibilities person like any other put in that situation would be, that she affronts anyway. Trying to fulfill it in the best manner she could even insecure of herself, and ended completing her job leaving aside what she could have enjoyed on his desired normal life.

Now, and put like this, I don't see that much difference between the two! Their conviction opens the same pathways.

Where I'm from one could say kayos90 "es una interesada".
Como se diría... embriagado por el poder, quiere pegar un buen braguetazo e imponer su ley gracias a una deseada manipulación del moderador residente aquí, ¿eh? Suena a telenovela, ¡pero con tintes más 'geek'! :-D

Thanks for the list.

Quick question you might be able to answer:

Is this the regular edition i.e. the special edition failed to chart at all? Not a huge surprise that it sold so poorly, but I was just curious.
The LE sold 10,839; it was at the top of the original BD list on Tuesday. Only reason I didn't repost those top ten BDs was because I thought it would be redundant; I can include them in Thursday posts in the future if it seems leaving them out could raise confusion.

Oh, no, it's fine, I should just pay more attention in future! Thanks for the update.

Maybe he just likes fucking with people? I never really concern myself with semantics of the trivial. You could probably find a reasonable explanation, like trying to discourage those who aren't really that interested but it doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things.
None of that sounds reasonable to me, and I would say it does matter quite a bit.
The fate of mankind itself is at stake. I mean, c'mon.

And the only reason I have that theory is just because of some of the
requirements. To me anyways, it seems like a series of love letters to someone's past, where they could reminisce about all the good ol' times. We had the rocks on the beach with the cave, go karting, and even running a fast lap at high school.
And pushing a specific button twice, but you had to wait a bit, and that should have been a mere formality but oh man, there just happened to be a typhoon on the day the protagonist decided to do that one zomg. And that was the big event of that one episode. How suspenseful and organic. Not arbitrary or forced at all. But hey, never mind that: a monopole just literally fell from the sky. Right next to the protagonist. The thrills, they never end.

You guys ever have that anime where you here others talking about how amazing it is but you've tried multiple times to start it and feel lost as to when the awesomeness starts and you eventually give up? Gintama was like that for me. I can't make it past the first 10 episodes and I tried like three times already. I remember Reborn was like that but the second attempt did the charm. I mean an anime typically has multiple elements that it tries to front-load to build momentum for the viewer interest. I'm at a loss as to what elements these are in Gintama but I want to get to the amazing things I keep seeing screen caps about. I'm about ready to go read some FAQs but I'd still like for people to give me suggestions for a good jumping-in point for the series if possible.

It seems as though Gintama takes dozens of episodes to really get into its groove.
For me, a huge number of episodes is a barrier to entry. I dont even want to start shows that are a hundred + episodes long.

Yeah that happened with Cowboy Bebop. I was waiting for so long for it to finally get to being amazing and good as people said but Bebop just failed to ever take off. Hopefully the same thing wont happen when I start Outlaw Star.

You might like Outlaw Star a lot more. Its more story based. A lot of episodic shows are hard to get into at first.

Like most comedies,I feel Gintama takes some time to find its groove. Most people agree 25 is where everything really starts to come into its own. The first episodes introduces many of the long running characters that appear frequently throughout the series so they have some importance.
