Rayman Legends coming to Xbox 360/PS3, all versions releasing in September

While I'm not surprised that the game is going multi-platform (although Nintendo's publishing deal for Japan had me hopeful) delaying the Wii U SKU for the other SKUs is quite shitty considering the game was scheduled for this month.

I'm also worried, because now Bayonetta 2, TW101 threads are likely to become unbearable.

oh fuck so now there's really only Pikmin 3 to support the reason I got a Wii U ;)

Edit: Wonderful 101, Bayonetta 2, X and Shin Megami X Fire Emblem too of course

If you are upset you don't have any games to play, maybe you folks should steer clear of hardware launches, particularly when q company has a bad (recent) track record.

And the refusal to buy the Wii U version when the game launched is almost too ironic. That will just mean less support for the hardware in the future.

This is what I find truly shitty about all of this. I knew it was likely to appear on other platforms, hell I know it was likely to happen later this year, but to delay the Wii U version when it was easily one of the most hyped games for many early adopters feels like nothing short of saying "Fuck you" to all the people who bought a Wii U.

I bought the Wii U highly anticipating this game, and it was gonna be 1 of 2 games I wanted to get in the next 2 months. Now...seriously, fuck you ubisoft.

True that. But it would have been nice to have a Wii U game to play sooner.

God damn it Ubisoft. What the hell are you guys thinking?

Omg, the meltdowns in this thread are so tasty.... especially that new honor and shame post...

Saw the thread title in the gaming section and started laughing my bum off. XD

Those tears of unfathomable nintendo sadness, let me lick them.

I don't recall this reaction when Pikmin 3 was delayed. So those complaining are probably die hard with nintendo bias. Either way, Rayman Legends was going to bomb, and it's still going to bomb. As a gamer, i'm happy that i don't have to spend $300-$350 to play a game that is coming to much cheaper consoles.

Pikmin 3 wasn't coming out in 3 weeks

Rayman is also completed, Pikmin 3 isn't

Definitely doesn't make things up as he goes along.
Hmm, that's certainly interesting.

If Nintendo isn't heavily supporting the games from third parties that build on the market they established on the platform, I can see why third parties wouldn't be lining up to support them.

Microsoft on the other hand for example heavily pushes CoD despite having Halo.

edit:
awkward double post

Yes and I can only imagine it's because of how relatively poor third party/Ubisoft sales have been on the system so far, but that means nothing to me because 50% of my game purchases have been 3rd party.

I'd also like to take the opportunity to say that anyone who owns a Wii U at the time of release and buys it for PS360 is a massive douche.

maybe I should have been a bit more clear. Support = marketing $$$$$$$. see also: money hats.

Though I suppose when your starved for content, there's always exceptions. I don't know how the demo deal went down, that was probably part of the 'hey, we'll give you zombi u, oh by the way, we have a rayman legends demo - use it' kind of conversation.

If anything, now i'm curious to see what their sales projections end up being.

It's not like I can buy it when i'll have money ready for it (ie right now).

If I see a game being sold for 60 that is inferior to the a version that's 20 dollars, I'm not buying it. Ubisoft themselves say the Wii U version is the best version.
It's not 60 or 20, it's 60 (ps3/360) or 20 + price of a Wii U. Come on, try better next time.

Maybe because this was only delayed so it could be released alongside the other versions, but Pikmin was delayed because it needed more polish. After what I hear the game (Wii U version ) is basicly finished. Also because nothing else is releasing on Wii U in a good while and people were looking forward to it.

honorless

We don't have "get out of jail free" cards, but if we did, she'd have one.

Please tell me you're not serious. Shitting on anyone because they'd prefer the PS360 version for achievements/trophies or a more "traditional" control schemes or because they've already built up a substantial library or any other reason under the sun is uncalled for. It was Ubisoft's call to delay all versions of the game by five months, not the consumer's.

Nintendo is not owed a sale just because a version of a game exists on their platform.

And what's extra shitty about this, is this kind of crap is only done to Nintendo. If the situation were reversed, and they had originally announced a PS3/Xbox 360 game releasing in February, and then news was released that a Wii U version of said game was coming out in September , you bet your ass that the game would still be releasing this month, and the Wii U version would come at a later date...

Just like fucking Aliens CM. The way that asshole Randy Pitchford always talked up the Wii U version in interviews, I had no doubt that the "superior" Wii U version was releasing along side the other platforms...and we have no fucking clue when it'll even be out.

This is great new! I was going to get a Wii-U for Rayman Forever. I'd even buy....Ouya500a if Rayman Forever remained a solid title and an exclusive to the system. I feel for the Nintendo fans because this will have a negative impact on Wii-U sales, which could escalate with future titles. If people like me no longer have a reason to own a Wii-U, sales will drop, and more third party exclusives/support will drop as a result. I feel for the Nintendo fans. Just as I felt for Sony fans (though I wasn't as nice) with the release of the PSV.

Just be happy with what you have. I have learned that you should only buy a system for the titles currently available as everything else can change. Looking at you "Eternal Champions" for the Sega Saturn.

No, you're right. It's better to release it on one console first at full price. Wait for it to drop in price by upwards of 40 dollars, and then charge full price for it again on two other consoles 8 months later. Sounds like a winning plan.

So its better to release 6months after you said on the first console when

1) orig console will have A LOT more content out
2) new consoles will have A LOT more content out including GTA
3) new consoles will have next-gen consoles coming out and people spending money on that hardware/software vs $60 rayman sequels that didn't do amazing numbers in the first place.

fucking stupid.

It makes FAR more sense to release on time on Wii U when it has NO COMPETING SOFTWARE.

Then release on the larger userbases 6mo later for $29.99. You're gonna need that price point just to compete on those systems in the first place, plus you could add some unique levels or something that is $10-$20 DLC on Wii U.

Ubisoft is making a horrible decision in almost any angle.

The Wii U has a pretty "Traditional" control setup, this isn't the Wii Remote..

So Ubi released a demo but the Wii U version still gets delayed until September? Wow. This year is pretty packed. It'll now most likely get lost among the other big titles.

I am serious. Those people are part of the problem of 3rd party support on Nintendo systems, whether they like it or not (Nintendo is also a part, I'm not denying that). Especially if anyone who owns this game for PS360 starts complaining about lack of 3rd party games to play on Wii U, or Nintendo systems in general. It has nothing to do with being 'owed' a sale.

It's never a good idea to shit on your customers.

Should have just released the WiiU version first then PS3/Xbox later.

What if they want to play it for more than 3 hours without plugging their controller in?

They definitely need to remove the misleading demo from Wii U kiosks too. Especially for a game that's not coming out for many months and other machines. Put Pikmin 3 and W101 in the demo stations instead :)

Could still be on 3 platforms, but no need to delay Wii U version, they even have a Wii U demo.

But is there any indication the game is nearly finished on the Wii U? If it is and they are delaying it to release alongside the other versions, that makes no sense.

There are new games on the Wii U right now. It sounds like a good idea to release the game now, not later.

Did anyone ever doubt that a Rayman game gets ported to every platform imaginable?
The delay for yet another half a year just before release is pretty crass though. Fuck em, now I'll wait for bomba prices anyway, fall will certainly have enough other games, including 1st party Nintendo which will have a steady price.
This generally killed lots of sales potential for them, bad decision. Could have been a showcase WiiU title when nothing else is out, now it's just another multiplatform release like Origins that also did like 50k combined when it was released in Fall, lol.

They don't want the game to be tainted as a late port on the two platforms it has the best chance of selling on.

For those of you threatening to not support Rayman Legends on Wii-U for this decision are going to cause future problems.

By doing so you:
1.) Give support to the Decisions
2.) Other developers see the lack of Wii-U sales
3.) Developer "A" uses this information and decides to follow suit
4.) You boycott that title, Wii-U no longer looks profitable
5.) You helped seal Wii-U's fate.

Show them they are wrong by supporting the title. Show other developers that the Wii-U sales are solid enough for exclusives. Prevent the ripple effect!

This is going to be a great game! It'd be a shame if you missed out.

You do realize whatever perception of Ubi that would change for people wouldn't be in their favor either right?

I'm not really trying to promote or denigrate anyone involved, just that I find the details suspicious and it has certain parallels with experiences from my time in game development.
