Buying this game day 1 regardless. The demo was incredible. Some of ye guys constantly complain and moan about EVERYTHING. This is the publishers fault.and devs deserve my money for this game. Grow up.

If they were so concerned with planning their releases around other AAA titles, why the fuck are they deciding to release this game within the same month, potentially same day, as GTAV?

Companies like Ubisoft think they can get away with releasing their games against industry juggernauts. Some have done worse. Sega released Resonance of Fate the same day as that other RPG, Final Fantasy XIII. Nobody beats Namco though. I believe they released a Naruto and a Tales game on the exact same day. Surely one ate into the other. :p

That's fine you think that, but as a fellow consumer, I don't have to "grow up". I don't owe any of these companies favors, and if they're going to be dicks about something, I'll speak with my wallet. If they want to hold the Wii U version back despite being dated for this month until this announcement, and openly admitting the Wii U version had no issues to warrant this delay, I'll simply treat the price of the game as a discount between that date and the final release date. I don't have to accept their fickle reasons for this, and neither should anyone else, regardless of whatever rationale you make about it.

Too many gamers roll over when companies do shit like this, because they feel they owe something to somebody. Nobody owes these companies a fucking thing. Their service is to us, and if we find their offers to be shit, we should make that clear to them.

The amount of marketing needed for the February release was probably minimal. It was the only game on the horizon for the Wii U. It's not like they had to convince Wii U owners to buy it over any other game.

And also, as someone said, odds are 7 months of development costs for the other versions can't be cheap. I can't imagine what they'll save, if anything, can justify the dick move they've pulled.

I wonder what kind of conclusions Ubi's execs will draw from Legends bombing... Even though I feel bad for the devs, there is no way I'm buying the game during the period that will be packed with Nintendo's 1st party goodness.

The devs are already paid and very few here have acted immature.

Ubisoft owns the developer... how will the devs get money directly from game sales?

Unless you mean that they would get some kind of performance bonus after launch based on sales revenue... but that would also depend on factors outside the devs control.. like marketings, timing, etc...

edit: beaten again

Plus, Nintendo would have helped with marketing.

They don't so grow up and buy the game for the devs. The mature man has spoken.

Really??Saying stuff like preorder cancelled, not buying this game anymore? All because of a delay???

Not because of a delay. Because of a delay 2 weeks before the launch when the game is already finished.
And because we're lied to and publicly deisgnated as seond-hand customers/fans.

They don't want my money? The won't have it.

What if this is just one huge marketing ploy and after having Rayman in headlines, fanboys screaming for blood, tweaked out devs in the spotlight, they suddenly swing the other way and release the game in February after all to much fanfare and much greater awareness? BRILLIANT.

..yeah I know, I should really go to bed.

I'm not buying the game this year because of the delay. If it was released in February then there's a good chance I would buy it since there's not much else on the Wii U. In September when Nintendo rolls out the big games, and holiday games roll around on every console, plus the next gen launches... there's no way I'll get around to Rayman until 2014. By then it'll be $10 though, so I'll end up saving money I guess.

Edit: This delay means the game will not only get overlooked on the 360\ps3 with bigger games releasing, but it'll be overshadowed by the next gen console launches + launch titles. It'll also be overlooked on the Wii U in September... when it could have been the only real big release in February.

Is that not a decision a mature adult can make due to being angry at a publisher? I'm certainly not boycotting the game, but I don't think you're in any position to dictate how others should feel or act. That's immature, in my opinion... but that's just me.

I'm super disappointed. Played the demo a ton and it seems like the game was practically finished. There was definitely some palpable excitement for its release in Feb. I feel sorry for the devs. I'll still pick it up, but depending on other releases it might not be for a while after release.

Can't say I'm surprised. We saw the same thing happening to the 3DS, the delay in itself is probably happening because Ubisoft isn't happy with the current amount of Wii U owners.

That is a fair point. The delay doesnt mean the game will now be shit though. We will never know what the higher ups in Ubisoft are planning.

How could they not be happy with it? The last 4 hardwares released sold worse than Wii U is doing.

It certainly could appear to be the case due to the timing, extreme visibility, and high amounts of strange trolling Ubisoft appears to be doing. If they reverse the decision (lol), they would be at least thanked. However, I think this is too damaging of a ploy to attempt and would be foolhardy.

The only person who losses out in this is the person who decides to not buy a good game.because of a delay. It wont affect Ubisoft in.the slightest .Just because the game was delayed for a pointless reason doesnt mean the game is now shit.

Bad person.

Play more BO2 so I can get awesome scorestreaks.

I only popped it in a day ago to download the Patch with the Wiimote Fix I love the fell of these discs but hate the noise :p

I really need to play BO2 I did not even get pass the first stage and went into multiplayer to get killed for a few hours. That was about it as you can see that menu is my backlog

Only beat NG3 for the DLC women you get after beating the game :3

I am pretty close to the final few Bosses in Batman, played a lot of AC3 as well.

over 450 hours of game time logged among the group

People didn't say they won't buy it. We said -mostly- that we'll buy it even later, second-handed or in a bargain bin. Are you even reading the posts?

Unfortunately, there are few options to discourage these types of business practices. If someone feels like they are supporting a good cause by boycotting the game, so be it. I don't know why you have to resort to accusations of immaturity when your opinions are certainly equally valid, and probably welcomed. Come on...

You know you never hear about a developer delaying PS3/360 versions of titles so their Wii/Wii U version can release with it simultaneously.

Glad to see the game coming to Xbox 360 & PS3 at least. I was bummed out that it was WiiU exclusive before. I really enjoyed Rayman Origins, and I'll end up buying this now because it's coming to a console I own.

You're equating AC and Rayman as if marketing plans and goals should be similar? Come on.
And you know the ideal way to market these types of games? You claim they had to release Assassin's Creed III before other big titles.

Now why is Rayman exempt from that idea? Why is it suddenly smart to release Rayman Legends with Grand Theft Auto V and delay a Wii U version by seven months while it was absurd to delay Assassin's Creed III a month because it would release with Halo 4 and Call of Duty?

Well due to this news, I ran off to EB to drop the per-order and bought Fist of the North Star online in its place. Not too sure if I'll pick it up in September as I will be saving up for other games & other stuff by then :(.

has ubisoft even given a reason as to why it's delayed to this extent? even if they are porting this to the other consoles, surely it woudln't take a port team half a year to do it, right?

I admit the "grow up" was out of line but I just think cancelling preorders or whatever for a game people were buying anyways is a bit odd to me because of a delay. Ubisoft have shaffted the wii u owners but there must be a very valid reason to have a such a ridiculous delay eveb though the game is apparantly finished for the wii u. The developers must be very annoyed at thia.

we hear late ports lol

I am still waiting for my NEED FOR SPEED MOST WANTED I wish EA would move the date up :(

many PS360 owners do not seem to understand why we are upset lol

I pay full price because I think people who make games deserve to be paid for their hard work but that being said I could very well end up passing on Rayman in September just because I have my pride too shiiiiiiiieeeeeeeet

The "grow up" is out of line if you're referring to someone not wanting to buy the game anymore. That's their right. The "grow up" is definitely fair game if you're referring to the seemingly endless and infantile "FUCK YOU UBISOFT" messages that populated the thread earlier.

Because it's not a direct competitor. The business plan for a Rayman game isn't "sell 5-10 million copies at full price in X amount of weeks." It is for Assassins Creed. To suggest that you market them the same way is ridiculous.

Port it, alter the portions of the game that were built around having a second screen, test it, market it.

It's to make the execs at Ubi feel better. That way when the game sells like shit they can say 'told you Wii-U owners don't buy shit, thank heavens we made it multi-plat!'.

It's actually a considerate gesture!

Wasn't this game to be released next week? I'll bet there are lots of copies stored next to the ark of the covenant somewhere. Too bad, but then again... lot's to do the next months.

Yeah, there must be some reason...... but what could it possibly be? It appears horrid. They say that they listened to the fans and decided to make it multiplat. Ok. Awesome. Fans are happy. But why delay the Wii U version when it's complete and promised to be at launch and then launch window? I think this is why people are angry. Also, by September, I think it's easier to write the game off due to the increased software releases. Perhaps boycotting it shows the clearest message to Ubisoft... it certainly got the developer to talk about their disappointments in the delay.

Even then, "Fuck You" is just reactionary, not necessarily immature. I'm honestly pissed about this news... both at Nintendo for basically allowing their system to launch without definite releases and Ubisoft for fucking with their fans and their developers. So yeah... FUCK YOU UBISOFT.

it's the same place in jersey where they stacked all the pete and pete season 3 dvds.

I'd speculate that they would rather get the potential boost for Wii U in the next fiscal year by releasing Pikmin after April. Who knows. But there's no way that game can't be ready to go. This is vintage Nintendo.

Hmm, i'd have thought that in the light of the razor's edge/rayman thing they'd need a boost PDQ so if thats the case i'd expect an announcement pretty soon.

I'm sorry about the devs, but that decision of Ubisoft will be fatal for the game. It's releasing in september with GTA V, Wind Waker HD and so much more. It will sink and nobody will care. Why don't release the Wii U version in february, Ubisoft? To release it at the same time as the other versions? So, what's with Assassins Creed 3? Why Ubisoft don't wait for the Wii U release then? Such a dirty corporation ...
