This is probably pretty relevant here too:

Yakuza series director Toshihiro Nagoshi teased the next Yakuza title in this week’s issue of Dengeki PlayStation.

According to Nagoshi, the team is taking a programmatic approach with the next title so that players can have a more physical experience.

Regarding the battle system, the team aims to reach new innovations.

About the next game in general, they want to offer a broadened form of play.

Don’t expect to see the next Yakuza title on PlayStation 3, though. Nagoshi said he thinks Yakuza 5 will be the last entry in the series part of PlayStation 3′s generation.

But rest assured the studio will continue developing with the the intent to make things the best they an under the circumstances.

Nagoshi hopes to show the next “something” sometime this year.

Given that he's talking to Dengeki PlayStation, I would assume he's referring to the PlayStation 4.

I think this is the first Japanese title that has been hinted at for the system?

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
I think its expected that the bigger PS3 IPs with strong focus on presentation will be continued on PS4, Yakuza is one of them - cant wait to see how their PS4 games will look.

Maybe he means they will go to Vita...

lol

I can't think of any other games that might have been mentioned for PS4 though, was there any indication of MGS being crossgen?

Yeah I don't think this one is a big shocker, but just that I don't think we've actually had anyone else from Japan actually hint at this for a specific title yet.

Not explicitly outside of the fact that visually it would probably scale up pretty well.

If that's the expectation then which IPs would conceivably transition to the Wii U from the PS3? The more niche titles like Atelier?
How in the world do they pump out Yakuza games so fast?
Re-using engines and assets?

I'm scrolling down the list of PS3 big sellers and um... maybe a Level 5 console title?

For the most part it's various entries in the same 5-10 franchises that have been on PlayStation consoles forever until we get pretty far down the list.

Edit: Oh yeah there will probably be some kind of Tales game on Wii U, even if it doesn't end up being a mainline title, given that Namco puts the series on just about every platform.

(Note: By transition I am assuming people mean "On Wii U and not on PS4." as opposed to like Dynasty Warriors 57 being on both.)

Exclusive? Not many, if Nintendo isn't willing to pay for them or handling the whole distribution and marketing in the west. Wonder if we could or will see many WiiU multiplattform titles.... Maybe from Capcom, since they had even Wii/PS3 titles and got MT Framework Lite running on Wii.

I was thinking the same months ago, now I'd simply reply: almost none.

So about those Dragon Quest sales... Lol.

1 mil shipped, 500k sold at day one.
we still don't know the first week number, the first week ST% and so, we simply don't know how it performed.

But do you know the period of the chart? (Monthly, Weekly, Daily, Hourly) I'm really more curious about that.

My educated guess would be that it updates instantaneously and uses the data of a certain interval. Since the localized versions of the recent charts are called weekly charts over here (I think), that could indicate that they're in fact weekly, in which case you could use the data aligned with the usual weekly sales data for comparison.

Another indicator would be DQVII gaining places since release day. The ratio of its sales in comparison to one week of sales of the other games should rise with more time on the market. On the other hand during obon week NSMB2 spiked on a single day and came down again on the next, which would indicate that the time span used to evaluate sales might be shorter than a week.

Problem is, we don't have any official statement from Nintendo since in the eShop 'recent' is the only explanation for the evaluation mode. If the Western subsidiaries checked with NCL for their weekly translation and didn't just assume it to be weekly, that would confirm it though.

That's kinda week - previous remake was like 900k first week ? 1300k lifetime ?

Previous remake was also released after Dragon Quest IX and all previous remakes, and many other Dragon Quest spin-offs, on a userbase of 30 million units.

Dragon Quest VII is still on track to debut higher than Dragon Quest IV and V.

DQV PS2 and VI DS are the only valid comparisons for VII. IV and V DS were already remade before.

Dragon Quest VI was released after that all the fanbase jumped on DS. It's not really a fair comparison in terms of numbers. Dragon Quest VII is the first mainline entry on 3DS and hence it will also have more legs than VI, more in line with IV and V.

Anyway, it sold 500k day one, and still had 3 days.

How about Dragon Quest V on PS2 then? It was the first mainline DQ on that system and still opened at 1m+, though I believe the userbase on PS2 was a little higher at the time but not by any significant margin like with VI DS.

Well, I'm sure PS2 still had more DQ userbase than 3DS right now, just because VIII was announced and slated for some months later.

Dragon Quest VII sold day one almost as much in Japan as AC Liberation worldwide over a few months? Scary stuff if true.

Probably. If we compared releases prior to release then you also have Dragon Quest Torneko 3 for PS2 and Dragon Quest Monsters Terry's Wonderland remake and Slime Mori Mori 3 for 3DS.

Weird comparison, but DQ7 has probably already outsold it since Ubi shipped 600k while SE shipped 1 million DQ7 units.

I think IV was rereleased long enough ago for it to be valid.

I don't think that's the point. The first remakes usually offer huge improvements over the originals, graphically but also feature wise (VI being the exception). DQIV on DS is hardly any better than the PS version. Graphically DQV is a downgrade over the PS2 version, similar to the GBC versions of the SNES remakes.

VI showed that even a lazy remake can do great, hopefully VII reaffirms that the remakes with effort put behind them are still rewarded more.

How are preorder for Soul sacrifice in Japan? Like P4G 1 month before release?
I know it's nothing compared to MH btw, but are people waiting for it?

edit:

This is a shipment number. Usually, for sales, Famitsu will quote Enterbrain figures.

50% of what shipment on first day ? Could there have been a second shipment the day after, totalling 1M ?

So, 3DS could rise to heaven (over 100k) and Wii U go down to hell (below 10k) this week? kind weird...

a random question... what happened to Jam with The Band 3DS? We didn't have any new info on it after the announcement, right?

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!

It's Nintendo, you can expect it to pop out with a release date in March out of nowhere.

if they really sold 1mln in 2 days, they should have made a second shipment, cause yesterday i was in Akihabara and the game was available

Even if they have sold 90% of the shipment, 100k are still in the market, and with 100k is not so hard to see the games on shelves.

not by Nintendo for sure

I mean, it was expected by everyone that the week with DQVII 3DS would have increased its sales, and the month without release would have seen abysmal level for Wii U.

We had a whole thread how "good" the AC Liberation numbers have been. And DQ7 has outdone them in under one week. Well, maybe the thread only gave a wrong impression^^. Sorry.
Well, no one expected it to sell(well ship) that much, considering the small Vita base, while DQ7 selling what it did was a given. Really just comparing apples to oranges.
