Need for Speed: Most Wanted Wii U Demo!Dat EA support.[Alex Ward of Criterion Games]

what was the point of posting this to say you are not interested lol

things have been so cynical about Wii U support that I almost expect EA to announce a PC texture patch for PS360 versions to bring them on par with this
I'm not cynical ..i just don't think a god mode is such a great feature ..as the game was very easy and very hard to be lost into ... i'm glad they took time to add things in the wii u version so that it works great but i was looking at more ?

more billboards , more cars , more races , more gameplay modes ? you know ... stuff ?
Criterion made me expect more things ... Look at Hot pursuit ... new online gameplay mode, more cars, more races ... that's stuff
Same with burnout paradise..

Is it really a problem to say that this co-driver / god mode is something that i think is pointless to me ? i expected content . This is not ( for me ).

It's an honorable effort but this is pointless for me in term of gameplay..if a friend comes to my house, he will expect a 2p competitive mode of some sort , not this.

Well, I don't think they're overly concerned with making this version appeal to you.

The texture upgrade should be pretty nice by itself:

Well considering this version arrives months after the others , i was just expecting more stuff ..
I'm still impressed that they took time to properly tweak their engine and used the pc textures but this is criterion , their delivery on that aspect has always been Excellent/impressive

I would imagine they're not really going after people who purchased the game already. It would be hard to get those guys to double dip anyway, even with a new mode. But if they can get people who were sitting on the fence...for whatever reason...then that's good for them. For a guy like me, who will be picking the game up for the first time, the god mode (great for my wife who hates cops in these games with a passion), and the Miiverse stuff is reason to jump in. People who already own the game may not be interested in this at all, which I assume they're okay with.

Either way, there's nothing wrong with stating as such as well.

They improved the game in numerous ways. But it's the same game. As you should expect. You sound like someone who wouldn't be satisfied no matter what.
But nothing wrong with wishing for more i guess...

because Criterion are known for lying about their technical achievements?

hint: they aren't.
They don't usually outright lie but they've exaggerated before:

We’re primarily leveraging the increased efficiency of DX11 to give improved performance. The move to DX11 from DX9 has given us around a 300% improvement in rendering performance. This has enabled us to provide an improved image based lighting model over the console version, as well as allowing us to run with higher detail shadows and reflections.
For reference, the game struggled to keep a locked 60fps at launch on 680 GTX level hardware. I guess they fixed it later with a patch.

It is a damn shame the launch lineup of multi platform games like AC3, Blops2, etc didn't get the same treatment and results.

launch titles pretty much convinced me Wii U is on par with 360 so pulling of PC textures in this game is kinda out of left field not really sure how they are doing it when others seem to have a hard time just matching PS360 levels

I'm not cynical ..i just don't think a god mode is such a great feature ...

no my second line had nothing to do with you... I said I AM cynical enough to believe EA would patch other versions to screw Wii U

my first line was to ask why you bother writing so much about something that is not interesting to you?
as others have said this is clearly not targeted you. In many of the Videos Alex Ward made it clear that co-driver mode is aimed at novice players and family togetherness Wii U / Nintendo core message.

How did they do it? Smooveness.

Looking at Lego City Undercover and The Wonderful 101 in recent videos proves the Wii U has its own eye candy factor but to see a game you would just expect to struggle because it was on other platforms shine is really cool

of course unless this gets a DF comparison people will doubt it... I doubt DF will bother for yet another late port

You can bet they'll do it. Wii U anything is a lot of hits. And they won't miss out on that train...good or bad.

looking at the street textures again makes me wish for a Wii U post of Sleeping Dogs with PC textures :(

damn so many missed sales... GTAV on Wii U :(

this game has me suddendly dreaming of impossible shit

I believe this was in Iwata's plans to get a Q4 launch lineup full of best console graphics ports. Reggie believed in it so much he said so in interview (was it for CoD?).

Still very good news to see meeting launch deadline was the thing to blame, and that Wii U can produce enhanced visuals with few extra months.

The possibilities.... I'd like to see what they could do with GTA V, even though it's a game I'd never play.

Still, glad this game is looking awesome. Can't wait to play it. :D

I'll probably pick this up but I'm most likely going to wait until it drops somewhere around $20. So yeah, I'm part of the problem.

well I wanted an arcade racer, it is pretty much the genre that I want a PS4 for... I am not really a big lover of FPS

but damn I love me some Racings and Flight sims, seeing these videos made me really happy so yeah Sleeping Dogs and GTAV open world games are kinda something I want to see on Wii U

hope the world is big enough in Lego City

Well if this game does well, the chances of getting another racing game should be pretty good. I really hope the rumors of a spiritual sequel to Test Drive Unlimited are true. Something like that on the Wii U would be sweet.

well I wish the Latte tech thread could explain how this port is possible, I guess once the games start showing good things FLOPS really don't matter

yes yes yes

this is why I gotta get a PS4 add on for my Wii U :3
can't miss out again

Has anyone here played the 360 or PS3 version? How does it compare because I looked at some footage on DF of the 360/PS3 version and could not see much, if any real difference between those and the PC one they showed.

I have the Vita version and is definitively not close (graphically) to any of the footage of the other versions. Still is a good game, though.

I think you assume I'm trolling you guys. But I had a horrible fucking experience with the PC version until the third or fourth patch (and even then, it's still far from optimised). So it actually comes from a place of pity.

erm I'm a pc gamer but i don't think like this. Will defgo pick up on wii u
See above. Not an insult. More a "enjoy the (crappy) PC experience on a console" line.

You're making us PC people look bad :/
The PC version was a bad port :( I'd rather they "upgrade" (or however you'd like to call it) one of the other console ones so at least the Wii U owners don't cop the crappy performance PC people did.

Clearly none of you have seen the NFS MW PC Performance Thread. I make several appearances there (sadly :( ).

Yea I would read up on that too.

you hear them say Wii U just has more RAM but none of that mattered with those launch ports so there has to be more to it, or those devs were really just plain vanilla porting lazy

I doubt this is a direct PC port, it is using PC textures so the controls and issues are not being ported over

That and technical know how. Launch ports are cash grabs. You are selling to a limited install base so the time and money spent on them has to reflect that. There is no time for optimization techniques that developers have had an entire generation to figure out.

Yeah like I said in that post I believe in my evaluation of Wii U's potential, but it's on Nintendo to show what Wii U is capable of. I won't go to technical, but to me it seems like Nintendo is having to get newer documentation and dev tools together because of their transition to HD and modern hardware development. So they're going through growing pains right now and hopefully they'll be able to provide devs with a better environment where they aren't having to figure out so much with Wii U on their own.

Especially with games like batman that underperformed the ps3/360 versions yet this game getting better textures and lighting makes no sense. People even saying Wii U weaker than ps360 because of launch titles. I cannot fault you for believing it was on par because what is one to think when seeing multiplats are under performing. I would like to see this effort put towards other multiplat games if possible. If not I just think developers are lazy. Whatever

sorry, don't fully understand, does it mean the dev team can port the game with better quality with less than half year?
If yes, why don't they port more games to wii-u as if the digital distribution should be minimize the risk / costs and they should have a rich library to start with?

That's what we all wonder... Maybe half a year is still too much of an investment for a lot of companies. If the ambition isn't there, you can't force it.

Criterion is an ambitious company. They want to get the most out of their time. They WANT to make an effort.

Then it might not be so bad. I just saw "Based on PC version" and inferred "shitty PC optimisation, now on console!".

best video that is not in the OP http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_aqNUG05auQ

PC textures and assets he says but it is the console version if he wanted he could have said PC port if that was what it was.

Yeah even Nintendo does not have HD experience but these guys have not worked on a Nintendo game for about 10 years lol and they pull this off in 2 months of extra work to go from on Par to something that shines

Hope we can see more fruits for the efforts being put out. Many people expect the Wii U to die in face of PS470 but I think if they can get games to a level just beyond what PS3 can push I'll be happy

I think Reggie was hoping Batman would have pulled it off I guess it would need a two month delay for it. Same reasons internal teams like the ones on Pikmin 3 have delayed that game over and over again

just a note for the Gamespot youtube Video. It is said that co-driver mode changes the car's defence? 5:26 http://youtu.be/_aqNUG05auQ?t=5m26s The cars in co-driver mode have a reinforced chassi so you can't be taken down easily

also turning off cops which seems to be the best thing ever. might cost you getting your speedpoints though

because crashing in traffic and police chase add to speedpoints right?

Yes. That mode is basically a mode so that kids can play with their parents. The game is easy enough already :p

I think Criterion had worked on the Wii U version just as long as the other versions were done in September about that time the Wii U version was on Par, in other interviews on the net they talked about Nintendo not having its online plan ready so they delayed the Wii U version. Took vacation in September and came back to Work after New Years, so this new co-driver mode and improvements were made in Jan-Feb to launch March 19th

Oh I understand but I'll be using that mode to learn how to drive better and exploring the map without hitting traffic and Fuck Da Police turning them off lol

Latest Patch:

5850 Crossfire / i5-750 @ 3.6GHz / 12GB DDR3 / 1080p / Max Settings

Frames: 7190
Time(s): 120
Min: 55
Max: 61

If the Wii U port runs like that Wii U owners should be jumping for joy.

What can be the reason for six players on line?
Weak CPU <ducks>

Seriously though I don't know. They can easily drop other visuals they added if they needed the power to draw more player cars. The single player game has multiple cars with physics so can't be CPU unless physics on single player is different to multi?

What can be the reason for six players on line?

Maybe since the Wii U's online structure seems to be more fragile (as in: unexpected disconnects every once in a while), they lowered the number of max online players just to be on the safe side?

That's probably not the reason, though.

Anyway, I just decided to buy this game solely on Wii U. Actually wanted to buy this on both the Wii U and PS3 but since my friends, who I wanted to play this game with, are also getting a Wii U for MonHun3U I could already persuade them in buying the Wii U version of the game. :)

Nintendo uses the deceiving inverse or "dark" flops, the less they have the more powerful it is.

I forget which video it's said in, but yeah he made it sound like they were working with the Wii U during most of the game's dev cycle.

(As opposed to a bunch of the ports that seemingly started really late and were rushed for launch and/or outsourced)

what Japan getting this early?

You know what I wish? I wish the Miiverse communities for games I want to open earlier
