Halo |OT14| They call it Halo

In Primordium,
we find out that ancient humans didn't find a cure as the Forerunners had though, but the Flood simply chose to stop infecting them. It could still theoretically be possible that there's an actual cure of some kind, but there's been no indication that anyone ever has fund it, or ever will.
Why did they
choose to stop infecting them? What? I thought the Flood didn't have motives otherwise :|

Wasn't it revealed that there is NO cure?
Sounds like a hard claim to verify on an in-universe level. If you find a cure, you can go ahead and argue that a cure exists. However, it's hard to say that a cure does not exist on the grounds that you haven't yet found one.

From Halopedia:

The Primordial asserts that "there is no difference" between the Flood and the Precursors, although it does not reveal the precise nature of their relationship. It also reveals that no human was ever truly immune to the Flood, but the Flood can choose whether to infect or not infect. The Primordial then states that the Flood is a test to judge a species' worthiness of inheriting the Mantle, stating that the Forerunners are to be eliminated and that humans will be tested next once they rise again.

So with that said, I say keeping the flood around was dumb :p

Humans, who now have access (not really access, but knowledge of) to all of the forerunner architecture thanks to the Librarian, rise again. In Halo 6, the primordials or flood return to test the Humans once more.

Been a while since I've read the books (really need to get on that before the next one comes out), but
the Flood wasn't created to test a species' worthiness of the mantle. It was created as a solution to the mantle (the Flood stands for everything the mantle is; unity, peace... etcetera) because when the Precursors deemed the Forerunner unworthy of carrying the mantle and tried to remove them, they somehow lost and were driven out of the galaxy.

Though might be a little confused because of how long it has been since reading. But I'm pretty sure that's how it goes.

Gotta keep recycling. If this is the case, awful, just awful.

Thanks all for the comments. Here's the post again for those who missed it.

Sadly, I won't be able to really participate in tomorrow's hype and excitement. I got a test I really have to hunker down and study for. I'll pop my head up for quick look at whatever's released at 1pm EST, then I'll go back to study.

It's going to be a long road of hype anyway. Tomorrow's just the beginning.

Playing Halo 4 again for the first time in a few days.

Was about to take the disc out when the first game I play is Infinity Capture The Flag. Oh well, I'll deal with it.

Damn good read! Makes me want to play Halo 3 again.

It's so strange that the ODST's aren't even in Halo 4, considering they're one of the first few things to show up in teasers for Halo 4.

It's official, every single aspect of this game has been criticized.

I don't know. Has anyone talked about how inconsiderate 343i was when they decided Lasky should have a mole on his face? I mean, how incompetent do they think the UNSC is? Don't they know that moles can be cancerous?

Now every aspect has been criticized.

Pretty accurate.
For those that are interested, here's that specific conversation between the Primordial and Bornstellar-Didact (not the same Didact as Halo 4): http://www.reddit.com/r/halo/comments/18h2x8/the_didacts_conversations_with_the_primordial_an/

I know this is a joke, but in Midnight in the Heart of Midlothian (written by Stinkles!) confirms that cancer is cured at this point in time in the Halo universe. Actually serious now, for those that want an interesting ODST story, check this story out, it's been turned into a motion comic on Halo Waypoint, so I'm sure it's up there, but it's also one of the better short stories in Evolutions (along with the Preston Cole short story by Nylund, overall great book!).

I just realized something. Given that certain Forerunner buttons will react very explosively or otherwise badly if a non-Reclaimer touches them, did they account for wildlife? It's rejected Elites and Prophets so far and Elites weren't around during the first feud.

What the fuck happens if one of those Delta Halo quad-winged birds tries taking a dump on a hardlight button or making a nest on it or something?

How do we know the Forerunners haven't lost a few shield worlds because of stray space pigeons shitting up the matrix?

Wahrer for |OT15|.

Lovely.

Oh cool! I didn't see that before. Colour is a bit... washed out though.

Is that bannable? I've seen people post about how talking about adblock is apparently bannable, but nothing about styles/scripts altogether...

Oh man, that's too bad about Over. He was good peoples, just recently helped me with my avatar. I bet he didn't even see EvilLore's warning.

So excited for Destiny and the end to Spartan Ops. Here's hoping David and his team use what they've learned and make it that much better in Halo 5 or if they decide a second season is needed.
