I was wondering when Ubi or anyone was going to say anything about this game again, and here's some good news!

Challenge mode is going to release on the Wii U eShop "sometime in the beginning of April" as said in that video on Facebook. Pretty cool for the devs to do something like this.

since the OP sucks so much I'm going to quote this guy who pretty much transcribed the important parts
"We'll release the full online challenges mode of the game exclusively to the Wii U fans. Now this is a really exciting feature because it's the first time Rayman has ever really been online. The online challenges mode in Rayman Legends will be accessible through the main hub. New challenges are generated weekly and daily each with its own leaderboard. The challenges take place in 5 different settings which features a unique set of gameplay styles." - Ubisoft Montpellier

- All 5 levels can be played by yourself or with up to 5 players.
- Invite friends, filter the competition in a variety of ways, try to beat the records of other players, player results are recorded on the leaderboard and also in ghost form. History system shows all player performances and overall ranking.
- It will be released in early April as a free eShop download.

The level names are The Pit, The Land of the Dead, The Infernal Tower, Dojo, & the (exclusive Wii U level) The Dungeon.

So this is a self-contained game with only one mode? If they're going to release that, just release the whole damn thing Ubisoft.

This video has literally made me moist (as in, I spilled tea on my shirt when watching it). A very nice move from the devs. Now I'm wishing I had a WiiU... still, preordering it for X360 as soon as it's available.

So Wii U is getting it's own eShop game? Instead of the exclusive Wii U demo?

The video makes it sound like this is one of the modes from the final game, but they're going to split it out and release just that piece on the eShop as a free 'demo' to Wii U users.

Which is pretty cool; if only they'd had this and Watch Dogs Wii U to announce back when they intially announced the delay.

Look for me on the local news, I'll be the guy arrested for trying to burn down a Nintendo exec's house.
So a sizeable only Challenge/Time Attack Demo with leaderboards and what sounds like 5 levels. For free.

I mean, thats quite the extended olive branch, WiiU owners, considering you all now understand WHY the game was delayed.

We understood it the moment it was delayed, and they made it clear for us.

Them being able to add more content is because of the delay, not what caused it.

This is a really neat idea, and a good way to get us playing something sooner rather than later. Also, I believe that they said there will be new challenges updated weekly? That should build a pretty strong community in the leadup to launch.

I'd rather the full game, but this is a good olive branch.

It better be free
It is.

Video says they want to add content during this time too, so hey, more time working on the game and not only porting to other systems, that's good to hear as well.

Don't be a dick. Whatever reasoning they had for doing this, it's obviously because Ubisoft thinks it's in their best interest. People were understandably pissed off, so it's a (small) way to make some amends; you make it sound like they're doing this from the generosity of their hearts and we're all assholes for wanting more than a "fuck you, wait seven months".

Nice gesture but all my immediate interest in this game took a major nose dive. They really screwed this whole launch up. It's nice to see them taking steps to say sorry but its too little to late.

That's pretty cool. I hope it goes up on the JP eShop since I have a JP console. The video makes it look like it might <3

So, let me work this one out a loud...

The Wii U Game is done.

The Wii U has no install base.

Ubisoft didn't want the game to bomb, so they decide to port it to PS3/360.

Ubisoft wants to consolidate marketing resources so it delays Wii U Version to the fall to market all three platforms at once.

Ubisoft rips a mode out and releases it as a stand alone game for Wii U owners to placate them.

... Sound right?

At least the dev team is showing that they care. I was originally angry about the delay and vowed to not buy the game day 1, but I might think about getting this if it's at a reasonable price.

This does NOT however, make up for the delay.

Edit: Wait, this is free? Damn. I'll have to dl it for sure then.

An olive branch would be releasing the game.

I can't be mad at Ancel and Co., but it still doesn't change that the game is coming out when I have other games I will be playing instead, which means i'm still going to pass on it till it's in the bargain bin.

Interesting offer. I like to think they're going to this far because they realized just how badly they screwed up the potential sales of the Wii U version. This is more then an olive branch but a significant reminder of why you wanted to buy the game and a plead to please buy the game by showing what is actually in the final version. You don't something like this for free unless you realized you really F'd up.

This doesn't change that the game is still at the back of the list now even with potential Summer and Fall games from Nintendo yet to be announced. This doesn't change that.

It's amazing how much I was looking forward to this game before, and now how disenchanted I am with the whole project. By the time this demo (yes, it's still just a demo) is out I will have way too many games to play.

This is what sort of confused me... The Wii U already has a demo available (it's been up for a while, I think since launch even).

I'm glad they're going to release something a bit more substantial than just another demo. As a WiiU owner, I was really excited to get this game earlier.

In all honesty, I may be too broke from all of the new PS4/Xbox games and systems that are coming out later in the year to justify spending more money on this around the same time. Terrible decision to push back the release date especially if the game is finished.

Well, i doubt i'll be getting Rayman, but i've already given them my money for AC3 and ZombiU. If U_Watch_Dogs turns out good, i'll be getting that as well. But until then, i'll be getting Pikmin3, Bayonetta2 (hopefully), W101, possibly Lego City Stories.

Sounds right, except for the fact that the Wii U has an install base over three million, and with enough marketing push, the game might have been a reasonable success as a platform exclusive, but now may flounder in September against heavier competition, ultimately making the resourceful effort quite pointless.

But I'm hoping the game does well. I'll buy it regardless.

My heart, how warm it feels.
