It looks beautiful minus the ground textures which stand out a bit since everything else is so clean and attractive looking. A minor quibble though.

It does look clean, except for the 2D elements. The blurry character portrait, mini-map, and especially text seem a little excessively half-assed.

Man, the grass looks terrible...

I was one of those who was really unhappy with DQX being an MMO, but if it ever got a US release I'd give it a play. Wouldn't go through the trouble of importing it/modding my system/etc. on the other hand.

I hope the game will come out in the west, a MMO with the gamepad should be pretty cool to play. Weirdly enough, the WIi U might be the console of choice for MMO with it's huge touchscreen that can serve for typing texts, and having access to tons of menus/shortcuts without having to pause the game. Unless Sony and Microsoft copy the gamepad.

Also off tv function. Watch gsl while doing chores? Sounds great to me.

Dear Nintendo of America,

Release this in North America and I will purchase a copy. Hell, I will purchase two if I need to!

Refuse, and I will:

Financially how big of a risk would it be to localize this? Isn't the main goal of an mmo to gain as many subscribers as possible.....which in this case would mean to release this in more than one territory. I know nothing about localizing but it seems when you are dealing with such a big budget game like an mmo, localization is inevitable.

Another question I have is just how viable is a b2p version of this game ala GW2? Is this game able to support a cash shop as a main source of income in other territories? I personally enjoy subscription based online games because of the feeling of everyone being on the same playing field and the larger flow of content but I know I'm in the minority.

New thread got me so excited thinking it was coming to US for some reason...should've known better.

Edit: Not to say ZombiU is a bad game, it's pretty good actually, but I really wish I lived in a region that sold system bundles with RPGs rather than action/zombie/shooter games =/ I know we get them sometimes, with something like the 3DS fire emblem, or Final Fantasy 13 on xbox 360...but it's not as common.

Grass is always greener on the other side brother (or sister). I agree with you though and it's a damn shame we aren't getting this game or a bundle with it.

I'm glad that Nintendo recognizes how important this release is and is pushing it hard. Should this bomb, that's probably the end of major third party exclusives for the platform.

It would be nice if Nintendo published this in the west and covered any server cost. At least to build up an audience for future RPGs on the Wii U.

This is the first game in the series that has an art and character style that doesn't freak me out. I could be up for playing this one. :)
But every single game in the series has character art designed by Akira Toriyama. Have you ever seen Dragon Quest 8? It's basically like this only better looking.

It looks like a Wii game rendered at 720p. An empty Wii game, with really bad textures.

Also, the character on the cover is totally the guy from Dragon Quest Swords with the hair from the sidekick. I've said it before and I'll say it again, Toriyama is one of the most one-dimensional character designers I've ever seen.

Well, I'm not much into MMORPGs, but it's Dragon Quest, however I don't like the idea of paid subscription, I don't think it could work over here, BUT they still can generate a lot of profits by selling DLC stuff.

I know.

Really think they could've done more with the WiiU version, graphically. Then again, graphics are not that important for MMOs anyway.
If it runs at a solid framerate, then they did plenty. The original version runs like dog crap.
I think a solid framerate, higher resolution, and no jaggies is just fine, personally, having played the Wii version for a while.
