just for fun, i just wanted to say i began this journey with a warm heart to CD and optimism. these were my tweets around the reveal.

it's not bought day 1 anymore, but still i legitimately hope it is a good game.

even if it is a good game, what kind of game it has turned out to be doesn't interest me at the moment. but we'll see... if it's truly a masterpiece of game design (lol), then i'll probably have to try it out.

Come on. There are people who have decided, definitively, that the game will be the best game ever made, and there are people who think based on what they saw that the game will be a bad Tomb Raider game.

You see,it works both ways. ;)

I'm waiting for reviews. As is always the case, I have loads of games I'm enjoying that I haven't finished yet, so I don't need this game in my life, but if it's good I'll buy it.

And if I didn't buy games all the time when I hadn't finished older games, then I wouldn't have a comfortable buffer of quality to fall back on when something I'm eagerly awaiting gets delayed (Rayman) or turns out to be a big piece of poop (Colonial Marines). Hate on, if you like, but it's always worked for me. I'm enjoying Dead Space 3, Crysis 3, Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Zombi U right now, and purposefully taking my sweet time with them.

I really enjoyed the last two Crystal Dynamics take on this franchise. Legends not so much.

Looking forward to reading the reviews as they pop up today...got it quite cheap when I pre-ordered it because I had built up a bunch of store credit. I haven't spent any significant time with the previous Tomb Raider games so I don't have any special expectation but seems this game is very different from the older games so I guess it doesn't matter.

well, Nixxes gives me zero concerns about the quality of the port. they always do great work. I'm just waiting to see if the quality of the game itself is worth my time ;)

33$ and change from Amazon broke me. I loved the last 4 games they made and I own all 3 Uncharted games so I'm in no place to judge. And I won like every other title they were clearly influenced by lol.

Haha.Nice going Eidos,so much for that "confidence"!Gee i wonder what those terms in the NDA were...

I would think it was something trivial like not being able to reveal the game's story or something. And those guys probably didn't like that because they felt they needed to be able to reveal the game's story in order to properly review that. Something along those lines, I'm sure. We would be jumping to conclusions by saying they're actually trying to manipulate reviews like this. Until we know what's in that NDA, we shouldn't go around making accusations.

Finally watched some of the videos, looks pretty ok when it's not holding your hand. Still too many on-rails, scripted, and hold forward automatic bits, cutscenes I'm still not feeling either (Lara's VA, ugh), but I like the general atmosphere and lighting a lot. I can't wait to see how many of the situations you can actually die in.

Fucking bokeh though man, I swear.

Come on. There are people that are hopeful the game will be good, and there are people who have decided, definitively, that the game will be one of the best this generation.

It seems that the people bitching about this want threads full of circle jerks. People popping in with one line posts saying, "Looks great! Can't wait!"

I've given up trying to make sense of any of this anymore. This is a discussion forum, not a clubhouse. I always prefer to read differing opinions because it means someone else has gotten something different from the game than I did, good or bad.

"@agentbizzle: Can't really talk about Tomb Raider until embargo is up but I will say this: it's EASILY one of my favorite games of this generation. Wow."

The NDA could have been anything. Most likely about certain story beats/ where you can show footage from in a video review.

The conspiracy theories are ridiculous and baseless. It looks to be a good game, sorry that that pisses you off so much

I am not interested even if this game is THE GREATEST THIRD PERSON SHOOTER IN HISTORY.
I am however interested if this game is a decent to great Tomb Raider game that respects where it came from. Will that be case? 30 mins to go.

Nice try to spin this Harlequin but i'm pretty sure people are intelligent enough to avoid story spoilers and still being able to write a review.
And i don't think they need SE to tell them that they shouldn't post story spoilers in a review.

I'm sure it will be more than obvious in a few hours what's in that NDA. ;)

There's nothing worthy of suspicion in it.

lol

The atmosphere looks flat-out incredible.

I've asked one of the Square Europe (=Eidos) people on TRF about this. He's online right now so if he does know what was in that NDA and is allowed to talk about it, we'll probably have an answer soon. I'm not trying anything, BTW. I just think we shouldn't be jumping to groundless conclusions. Just because you've already decided you hate the game doesn't mean your arguments can defy logic or don't need proof.

I've come to a careful deliberation after all this time and just before today breaks in.

Tricky is as looney as a tune.

The last time I remember gaming outlets refusing to review a game before launch due to disagreements with the NDA was MGS4. That game had some weird NDA restrictions too but I dont think they affected my thoughts on the game at all. TR might be the same way.

MGS4s review limitations were: "Install times, length of cutscenes (the ending in particular), number of environments, opening "movie", product placement and a half dozen story-specific items."

Okay, LOL. He has no idea what was in that NDA as he's not in that department :p. I guess we'll have to wait for someone else to tell us.

Oh come on.Do you really think that a SE employee would ever admit that one of the terms for the reviewers to get an early copy is to give the game a score of 7-8 and above?
He would loose his job the next day.

The games media eat so much AAA shit in terms of terrible game pacing, mechanics, etc. without batting an eye that I won't believe a single positive review for this one.

Hmm wasn't interested in this game till I read this thread and watched some of the videos. Game sure is pretty, and a uncharted style game on PC would be nice. Looking forward to reading some reviews.

This particular fella seems to be a very honest and trustworthy guy. Sure, he works for SE and if you ask him about the game he's going to say it's great. But that's a matter of opinion. When it comes to actual facts he's always been very reliable.

TR to be as good as MGS4 confirmed.

I can't wait to read the comments for the story. I'm expecting CD have made such an emotional , gripping tale that will have you in tears.

And then I'll laugh.

Pretty much. Like I said yesterday I don't expect most reviewers to even bring up most of the problems people had with this game, let alone echo them.
