OreImo (rewatch) - 11

Despite being the episode that is obviously meant to galvanize Kirino, it did the opposite. And now it did it again. Kirino is so damn annoying in the first half of it. So egocentric, so rude, so... Arrrrrgh.

Luckily it is also the subtle start of Kuroneko's romantic arc.

Sgt. Keroro Episode 210 or "Drunk on confusion."

So aliens that feed on people's confusion using Giroro as comic relief? Perfect.

So apparently my sister's high school is offering a Manga & Graphic Novels class as an elective, and it also has them watch anime for a grade. What.

I did two courses worth of anime/manga studies in my first year of uni. Surprisingly, the 300-level unit was actually pretty difficult and I barely passed.

Seriously? So what exactly did you guys do? Was it like an essay/thematic analysis based class or what?

The 100-level one was a joke, but I skipped right to a third-year subject next semester so that was probably why I screwed up so bad, lol. Yeah, it was primarily analytical/thematic stuff. I'll see if I can dredge up my old (near-failure) essays or something.

Seriously, one of the first year assignments was to create our own manga and try and pitch it to the class. Everyone passed.

No, I imply that people might come in here and see some of us arguing and trashing each other and misconstrue is as malice. We're all awesome here.

I see. I'm not good at implied stuff, especially when I'm not facing the person to get intonation clues and such :( :kayos
Of course we can't all agree. That wouldn't be interesting to discuss otherwise.

Nah, it wasn't very clear. I could see anyone reading it wrong. The internet, it's bad for anything subtextual.

Humanity Has Declined 4

Well I guess it was impossible to be able to top ep 3. Best moment was Assistant pulling out the pencil and drawing stuff and I loved when Y started to talking about shipping the chess pieces. Really Bakuman does the manga idea much better and the lead character in this anime, her lack of energy, personality, outlook, methodology, solutions, and contributions are so awful that it really causes the quality of the anime to decline if I focus any attention on her. Ill miss manzines.

I was asked by some friends, besides Toriko, is there any other food themed anime and manga? There was that food fetish manga whose name I forgot, anything else?

You can say that anime has declined.

Yakitate is probably the most popular choice. (The manga you're thinking of is Shokugeki no Soma.)

My god. I just spent today reading the entire lolis in video games thread front to back.

And the Kotoura-san thread front to back.

And watched up to episode 6 of Kotoura-san.

I just don't know what to think of people sometimes. It feels like, outside of my niche, everyone hates everything I love and loves everything I hate. Definitely feel in a minority about stuff.

That's not to say I love the heck out of Kotoura-san. It's one of those average anime every season has. There's some story flaws in the opening, and while I don't all like the direction it took, it isn't horrible, just average. I'm probably enjoying it twice as much as I normally would because of all the notoriety. Which thanks to, I've gotten pretty into the show when I probably would have dropped for a while otherwise.

But my god the hate some things get. It gives me the opposite feeling. It makes me want to appreciate even the most mediocre anime given the undeserved hate they sometimes garner.
Doesn't help that several people in that thread, look down on people and don't hesitate to call "names" and refuse to discuss.

"your bobby is disgusting , if an adult was reading this , he'll agree with me ".

Usually i would have already pulled out , because of how stupid some people arguments are but there was several moment where i felt like i was being trolled.

There you go lads! iDOLM@STER is coming to the West as Tekken DLC!

YAY(!)

Considering they can't even localise idolmaster stuff in other games (rpgs ), i guess only the HARADA power will bring idolm@ster in the next dimension

Worst part is some of the people who like anime posting in there are not helping at all but adding more fuel to the fire by posting anime pics and gifs.

Shokugeki no Soma is amazing.
Yumiero Patisserie and its sequel is a fun food anime.

Chocolate Underground!

It's very short -5min episodes- and quite funny (or so I remember it)

Coffee Samurai...sort of.

I'm not sure what to think of that thread. Over 2000 posts in just over a day!
Thanks!

Anime Gaf Please Help. Im looking for anime that's kind of like Welcome To NHK, Genshiken, and Toradora. Anybody got any good recommendations?

Those are all more or less unique shows, especially NHK. I'd recommend Hidamari Sketch for your SOL fix from Genshiken I guess, though they're not really alike

Aah, the "thankless job". It's quite an understandable frustration. In fact, the context is comparable to something I've experienced recently (not in the workplace, mind you). This was a pretty good episode. The best thing about this series is how it points at all the possible issues in the workplace, or any community really, and simply spends time with it. It doesn't always come off as the most realistic (and at times actively suffers from it), but it can pull off some rather good believable insights. This was one of those times, (unless you find hard to accept
the chain reaction that helped create a best-seller
but besides that). The episode also had a really nice ending.

Rin and Reina are adorable together...but other than that, this episode was kinda sad, with
Haruko running away from her inlaws house, and then deciding to go back, saying she would just have to avoid feeling anything. Kinda gave me some sympathy for a character who had since just been there.

Fuck I need spring break.

Senran Kagura 08:

And now you know the story of how these titjas met. Lots of good boobage throughout, but the story is essentially stalled 'cause we gotta reach... 12, is it 12? 12 episodes I think?

A black comedy, a school comedy, and a love comedy. Well, you seem to like comedy.
From this season, the comedy options are Minami-ke Tadaima (SoL comedy), Haganai Next (school love comedy), and if I'm not mistaken, Kotoura-san (black comedy).
From previous seasons, you can't go wrong watching something from Shaft: Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei (black comedy), Bakemonogatari (love comedy), Hidamari Sketch (SoL comedy).

Black hair and red eyes? PLEASE DON'T BE LIKE SHINN PLEASE DON'T BE LIKE SHINN.

"GOD GOD GOD GOD GOD"

NOOOOOO HE'S SHINN ASUKA.

Okay, so, terrible first impression aside, here we go. Cheerios Hallelujah? Ooookay. It's Yurin! Or Chun-Li! Or Lalah! Or whoever! It's Haro! He's not in the Gundam Cheerios Hallelujah, though. It's in the Gundam Dynamis. So we have here the basic "Enemy attack on a base" opening, except, like in Wing, we have the Enemy as the Hero. The AEU is obviously meant to be like the OZ, UEF and so on from other Gundam shows.

"It's a Gundam!" GUNDAM CHEERIOS!

And Virtue. So that's, let's see, Exia, Cheerios, Dynamis, and Virtue. Four Gundams. Two conducting terrorist ops on the AEU, and two defending the Human Reform League from other Terrorist mobile suits.

Mobile suit designs are so-so. Much as I sounded like I was dissing the Zeon suits from 0079, they're quintessentially Gundam. Really, outside of the Zeon designs, the only ones that seem really Gundam to me are the OZ suits from Wing. Otherwise it feels so weird.

Oh geez, Celestial Being? UGH. So they're like Mythril, except incredibly pretentious? Got it.

Anyway, it's only the first episode, so we could be in for a good ride, or we could quit halfway through. I'm glad to know in the first episode someone has pointed out that Celestial Being using weapons to stop war is contradictory.

Who knows if this will work out our not... we'll see.
The Japanese financial newspaper Nikkei is reporting on Wednesday that Asatsu-DK (ADK) will begin streaming anime titles overseas in April. Six major anime companies are investing in ADK's subsidiary that is handling the streaming. The venture will translate and host popular works from over 500 titles, and it plans to recoup costs through fees and advertising.

ADK issued third-party stocks worth 340 million yen (US$3.69 million) in its 100%-financed subsidiary Daisuki. The anime companies Toei Animation, Aniplex, Sunrise, TMS Entertainment, and Nihon Ad Systems (NAS), along with Dentsu, are investing in the subsidiary. ADK plans to retain a 26.3% stake in Daisuki.

Nikkei notes that Toei's One Piece anime and Sunrise's Gundam anime have garnered many fans overseas. Daisuki's site will present new titles nearly simultaneously with their Japanese broadcasts. The venture will also stream live programs to anime fans in English.

The newspaper adds that the site plans to begin an online commerce service in June and sell tie-in goods. It aims to gain about 3 million members in five years.

Until now, the different anime companies have supplied their works separately to overseas streaming services. They plan to develop a streaming service on this site to bring together the leading titles and increase revenue.

Mobile Fighter G Gundam 1

Straight to the point and shiny and enjoyable, too. I like that Domon can pull off brooding without making it terrible at the same time. And then there's his magical girl transformation complete with lingering shot of his butt in black spandex. Also his Red Kamina Cape. Shining Gundam might not be the coolest Gundam name, but I'll be darned if it isn't one of the coolest entrances.

NEO EVERYWHERE also, and Gundams for errybody.

You won't regret it. this is the most awesome Gundam ever.

Kids on the Slope 4

So many mixed signals, perhaps Sentaro and Kaoru should just stop chasing the ladies and focus on each other as the aggravating drama they cause ruins the music and leads to a path of constant disappointment.Anyway loved their crying scene and both playing the piano hand in hand and the jazz session. Jun needs to sing more, when he grabbed the mic and stuff, was so good and the piano.

Yariko falling for Jun was anger inducing and worst Riko again giving Kaoru no response after these long months is utter nonsense, what is she doing , how could anyone turn either Sentaro or Kaoru down. I just hope that Sentaro can help Kaoru from his loneliness and depression, was sad to hear their origin stories.

My only foreseeable complaint is that G Gundam isn't really anything like other Gundam shows. And that's not a complaint so much as a reason not to classify the others with it. It seems already to be very different.

Harada still responding to tweets in-character as Iori.

"Good morning. Iorin is shining today!" "What was that about my forehead!?"

It is different, and I agree that it's almost not a Gundam. Still some points link it to some recurrent features of other gundam shows.

The gundams have hilarious designs and names by the way.

Wreck-It Ralph was genuinely better than Brave. Not that Mamoru Hosoda didn't get jobbed!

Hyouka did things with KyoAni’s animation and the very language of film that would make Walt Disney and D.W. Griffith bleed from their brains

It doesn't help that American distributors treat non-Ghibli anime films like secondhand garbage.

Can't be any less well-known than the super-obscure French stuff that gets nominated year after year. I know that Spirited Away won its year, but is it unreasonable to suggest that the Academy is just biased against Japanese animation?

lol weeaboos hating on western animated films, nearly missed it :)

Non-Ghibli anime movies in general are garbage, treating it like it would be the right thing to do.

Nah it's probably cause japan makes bad animated movies and the competition was strong this year...I mean present maybe if all theses western animation studios stop'd making movies then maybe japan would have chance.

The Anime movie medium is a joke
