MH3U adds cross-region and off-TV play [Wii U]

online cross-region functionality
off-TV play.
additional free of charge downloadable quests for both Nintendo 3DS and Wii U

I have a friend who will be so happy with this.

Good Capcom, very good way to show some attention to your community and to support the game after launch. *clap clap*

Btw, seeing the post release support MH3U gets is a pleasant surprise considering it's a port after all. Makes me more hopeful for a MH4 HD.

No seriously. This is the best news of the year for me so far.

When it was originally announced, I dreamed of sneaking in late night hunts from the comfort of my bed while my wife reads her graphic novels.

When it was confirmed to NOT have it, shit really broke my heart and just made sour on the whole release.

This news fixes nearly everything. Excited for a day one again!

seemed like capcpom trying to sell the 30 quid off tv extra purchase but maybe they just rushed it and didnt get round to it

Nah. I think it was just that. They wanted to sell people both versions and if you wanted Off-TV Play you had to pay $40 for the option. Which is just wrong. However this is how Capcom operates. Look at Dragon's Dogma. Making people pay $40 for the expansion instead of making it DLC. I also don't buy that the original game wasn't designed for DLC.

I just hope they make the game run in a constant 60fps, I heard it was pretty uneven in the JP version, can that be fixed in an update?

Someone did a framerate analysis of the Wii U demo and found that it was pseudo-locked at 38FPS. The 3DS version actually seems to fluctuates more.

heck yeah, just saw their tweets

wii-u version will be amazing.

I'm still picking up both though, just to support the series.

Off-TV Play doesn't reduce the framerate at all, it is if you were to use 2 gamepads that the framerate would be halved, but no game uses 2.

Ahh, I stand corrected. :D

Super tempted on jumping back into MH for this but I just cannot spend the cash for a Wii-U and the game right now.

Wow it has been a while since I have seen people call them Capgods. So rare to have good Capcom news these days.

The Japanese release of Monster Hunter 3 had a subscription last time I checked. Is the Wii U version of MH3G the first in the series not to have one?

Either way, you're probably right that language was a bigger factor.

I think MH3U HD is also free to play in Japan. Apparently, it is due to Capcom using Nintendo's servers this time. Capcom doesn't have to pay for long-term expensive maintenance costs like it did with MH Tri ([probably why they did subscription for Japan for MH Tri).

Off-TV compatibility should be mandatory for WiiU. It's basically the only thing the system has and what people look more forward too.

Awesome unexpected news, they really want to deliver this time around!

Now the only thing that's keeping me on the fence to purchase a Wii U + MH3U bundle is the lack of money, but apart from this little issue I crave to play this game so much.

There's a levelling system, but that determines what quests are available to you, not your own strength and survivability. Character progression comes from collecting materials from dead monsters from which you can craft weapons and armour.
Ah thanks for clarifying :)
