Also, Manhunter could be a Power or Gadget character. He does plenty of beep-booping on computers that I could see them making him one for this.
Every character with enhanced or superhuman strength has been made a power user so far, even someone as gadget heavy as Cyborg. Really, "power" and "gadget" is just code for "superhuman strength" and "no superhuman strength." I can't see Martian Manhunter flipping off of walls or using makeshift zip lines, but it's right up his alley to pick up cars and hurl statues.

By that definition Lex should be a gadget character also. I really do think MM could be either one. Also, even if he has to be power, they never said there would be a perfect even split on gadget/power types.

Lex's battle suit provides him with enhanced strength, though. But you're right, it's too early to know for certain whether or not NetherRealm divided the roster in half by type.

I am pretty sure the roster is split by who is on who's side in the story initially.

I voted for professor zoom.

I liked flashpoint

I forgot that the Battle Arena is suspended until the 11th; maybe they plan on using this week to reveal a new character(s). The official site was updated yesterday to include all of the characters announced so far with the exception of Deathstroke. Perhaps they're holding off on adding his bio until later this week along with Raven? I could see there being a Teen Titans-themed trailer.

Where does it say it is suspended? In the last Battle Arena video yesterday she said "come back next week".

That said, I see a Teen Titans-themed trailer being a good possibility due to how many of them are in here.

At the bottom, if you highlight the "Q" it says that the quarter finals start March 11. (I could be missing something, though, since I assumed it was a continuously weekly thing.)

It does say that on the site. However, just because the quarter finals don't start until March 11th doesn't mean there is no Battle Arena content next week. She said in the video to come back next week, that means there will probably be something. I doubt from a marketing perspective they really want to take a break anyways.

There's plenty of ways to market the game outside of the Battle Arena. Hypothetically…

Week of March 4 - 2 character reveals
Week of March 11 - Battle Arena quarter finals
Week of March 18 - 2 character reveals
Week of March 25 - Battle Arena semi finals
Week of April 1 - 2 character reveals
Week of April 8 - Battle Arena finals

That's 25 characters revealed by launch, leaving room for a couple of surprises.

I was looking at the character list and I'm surprised there are only two characters I couldn't care less about.

Lex Luthor.
Solomon Grundy.

The rest I'm sure I'll give a few tries. I'm still crossing my fingers for Black Adam.

I agree with that. I still think there will be some sort of content related to the Battle Arena this upcoming week though. Because, again, the host in the video said as much.

Luckily, I would say there is a 90% chance he will end up being playable. He was part of a magazine article and 3 of the characters mentioned in that article have already been officially confirmed.

For the comic book aficionados on GAF..

I don't have access to any of the books but I still wouldn't mind watching some stuff on Netflix. Are there any cartoons you'd recommend that I watch? Young Justice? Justice League? Superman/Shazam and Black Adam?

Watch Justice League/Justice League Unlimited. (Unlimited is a sequel series that follows straight after the original)

Appreciate it guys. I'm about to start a marathon tonight. Woo.

I recommend Young Justice as well if you want to get to know some of the "side-kicks" Superman/Shazam was a collections of shorts showcasing a few DC characters. I was really into the Jonah Hex and Specter ones.

Young Justice does look cool. I enjoyed Teen Titans so I'm assuming I'll like this as well.

Well, it isn't like TT. TT was light hearted and had this odd anime fusion thing going on. I want to say Young Justice takes itself more seriously than Teen Titans did.

Young Justice is awesome. 3rd season of Justice League is awesome. Teen Titans is great if you like slapstick and serious getting along (which I did and I loved it).

Enjoy.

I love Young Justice. It actually got me back into cartoons after a long break. I never watched the JL Unlimited series. I have the first 2 seasons on DVD so I think I'll start on that today.

We've seen one of them:

Oh cool. I was wondering if they would give him a beard. Thanks.

I'm just gonna wait for official confirmations, but those are my final guesses. Staring at a tiny icon gets old fast.

I have doubts about Killer Frost. She's pretty under the radar, is a villain for an under the radar hero, and there's a high chance of Captain Cold being among the cast so she would be redundant.

That, and the way the "hair" looks for "Killer Frost" is too close to that of a hood. If you look at the edge of the "hair" on her shoulders, they fold over like cloth. Hair acts differently since it's separate strands which should simply flow over the front and back of the shoulder as it parts, while cloth kinks because it's one material and is unable to part in that manner. It's also pretty clear where it form a small gap at the top in the middle, it has a sole wave that runs along the center top of her head (instead of parting to either side), making it seem even more likely that it's a hood.

The hood also seems like it has a darker trim along the front...making me very unsure of who it could possibly be.

They confirm Grodd yet? or Black Manta?
They haven't. Though Grodd is a stage character, doesn't deny him as playable (as Doomsday is a stage character, yet is also playable), but it also means his chances of being playable are slim.

I'd really, really like Black Manta. No word at all on him, and Ocean Master seems to be involved in the story so he might be the Aquaman villain rep instead...but I would prefer Manta.

Kinda looks like Circe too.

Also someone screenshotted faces flying through The Negative Zone and folks are debating whether its Lobo or Zod in one of the shots. Honestly I hope its Lobo. Its contrived, but it would honestly be a way to work him into this war if he had a score to settle with Superman for tossing him in there or something.

If anything, it looks more like Zod. Since Lobo doesn't have a goatee. Plus the black marks aren't on the face. But I wouldn't doubt Lobo being in, he keeps getting hinted/teased by Boon.

Uh...Injustice is a fighting game. You can have an ordinary guy fighting a god with no problems.

Regardless, there is a story, and a comic book prequel series. Maybe keep tabs on that, then we'll all understand.

Sort of ruins the point of a superhero game, though.

Here's some more speculation while we wait for the next character reveals. The Aquaman trailer from a few weeks back offers a brief glimpse at a character who has seemingly yet to be revealed: http://i.imgur.com/vzOQlSF.png

Shazam is the only other caped character we know of, and it doesn't look anything like him to me…
Costume 1
Costume 2

It must be Black Adam or Martian Manhunter, but Black Adam wears long black sleeves (we've already seen his character model), and this mystery character appears shirtless. He also looks to have the "underwear over tights" thing that Manhunter has going on. I don't know. What would Black Adam be doing with Superman, Green Lantern, and Hawkgirl, anyway? He's one of DC's most ruthless villains.

My bet is on Martian Manhunter.

For those who care, the game will have a vs cpu mode this time around.

As for the character in that scene, I think its probably Black Adam.
Gold armor, black suit, and a half cape. Possibly a gold hood. Not sleevless, but gold gauntlets.

This is from the same scene in the story, just a bit later.
Looks like that dude, black outfit, gold parts, and you can sorta see the black half cape on the right side.

Also if you look close you can see a Egyptian looking snake head thing on his boots, which only Black Adam would have.

I'd say you're right. It looks as if you can make out a red x over his chest. Just below that X is looks to be open with no covering, also part of his costume. Finally there are the pirate boots.

I also feel like Marian Manhunter constantly has his arms crossed, haha.

I'm not too concerned about Martian Manhunter. If he's not in the base game, then he's definitely going to be DLC. It's just a bit strange that they would decide to leave out one of their top heroes; I'd definitely place him above Cyborg and Green Arrow in terms of historical significance to DC Comics, even though those two are currently more relevant.

Hmm...the gameplay being 60, but stuff like supers and stage transitions being under that seems a little jarring. But the phantom zone stage transition was running at a full framerate. Weird.

But I hear framerate optimization is like the last thing they do in games, so I hope it'll be more consistent in the final version.

Its pretty likely (considering Ares has had screenshots teased of him for the comic ) that Batman and his insurgent crew of criminals are being "championed" and boosted in their strength so that they can take on Superman. What fun is a war if it ends too soon for Ares?

Feel better?

Superhero fighting game. What would be the point if you couldn't pit your favorites against one another.

If any superhero can fight any hero on equal terms in a fighting game, and if the game doesn't try to depict the strengths/powers/characteristics of the heroes, what is the point of making a superhero fighting game?

It could be set up in tiers, either with something like groups of heroes that are uniquely suited for fighting each other, or set the roster up in such a way that only 100 ton strength+ heroes can fight other 100 ton strength+ heroes, and only 50 ton strength< heroes can fight other 50 ton strength< heroes, etc etc. (Just some examples.). There could of course be arcade modes where anyone can fight anyone, but a 800 kg strength class character would basically be useless against a 100 ton strength class.

Hehe, that does sound possible, but I just don't like people putting characters like this in whatever situation and just nerfs or boosts their power depending on the situation (Usually without explaining why -- it's usually more subtle, like a character struggling to lift a 2 ton object, then easily lifting a 20 ton object, etc.) -- it happens a lot in movies, and seems like it happens A LOT in comics (I don't read a lot of comics.).

I'm not dissing the game or anything though -- this is obviously a very nitpicky thing, and shouldn't have an impact on the actual quality of the gameplay, or if it's enjoyable or not.
