Game characters who gain a level in sexy

I'm honestly surprised nobody has mentioned Joanna Dark from Perfect Dark/Perfect Dark Zero yet.

Especially jarring, given that Zero is a prequel.

I don't really agree about Anya. Yeah they gave her new hair and slightly better skin, but that's hardly an egregious example.
Yeah once again, not the worst example, I conceded that, I just found it funny that the girl-next-door turned into a babe. Apparently that might have been just poor modelling, though. Maybe I should edit my OP before I get more replies about this? ^^

Very literal example. After completing her endgame subquest she literally levels up (big stat boosts) and transforms from a little kid to a mature hottie. Difference is more stark between her in-game sprites though...

I don't agree with this one, she just went from child to adult. Sure, it happens instantly but that's cause she's a weird nanomachine construct, and her adult form wasn't sexualized, or at least not overly so that I can remember. It's like Apple from Suikoden 1 and 2. She's initially a young girl, then a young woman in the sequel (logical as it happens what, 10 or 15 years later?), and yet a more mature woman in Suikoden 3, and never once gets sexualized in the process.

Never understood the logic of that outfit. High heels, tight pants, and a combat vest with a giant space right above the vitals open to attack. No undershirt whatsoever.

Perfect thing for a spec ops operative to wear.

Whats funny about Mk9 is damn near every female cast member is half nude, while most of the men are fully dressed and covered.

Sounds like most video games...

No. Her BSAA costume, along with the cap, is way better. At least she doesn't have those ridiculous shoulder pads. And I love her STARS outfit.

Maybe he was trying way too hard, but man, the change was really good. The "hipster" Allard looks way younger and sexier.

Wrong.

Beret + Shoulder pads forever damnit

Just so we're clear- You're arguing that a pre-pubescent girl and a young woman are equally sexy.

I thought he was just saying that neither character was particularly sexualized at any age... not even commenting on whether or not they were "sexy".

Not female, but Chris is one of the best examples to me, and roid arms aside the boost they gave him in sex appeal (which I wouldn't mind happening more with male characters) can be noticed at how rapidly he raised in popularity between gay fans.

I dunno. Chris is a good looking dude, especially if you judge him compared to the other character models done in older Resident Evil's, and older games in general. It's pretty obvious he's supposed to be handsome, but character design has changed a lot across the board over the years.

Also, I see these two models as being similar. Chris just looks younger in the older game (which is cool I think) and older and bigger in the newer ones. Which is actually kind of a natural progression, insane roid arms aside.

Then they should learn to stay on point. I hate it when someone wants to argue with me about a point I never even made. I never said either one was "particularly sexualized".

They went so far overboard that they toned it back down for SC V. In fact, Ivy is the only one in that game with a big rack, after the plethora of them in IV.

Though that's mostly because, save for her, the huge racked characters don't return (at least not in the same form of the previous games...)

But I think it's the general direction that the OP wanted to take. The title is a bit misleading.

Flaws are humanising. It helps with the effect.

As for "how", I'm not really sure I understand the question.

Is that somethign they have said? or just your guess?

it is an odd "flaw" to give someone, especially when it seems their main focus was to make her more sexy. I would think that giving her a human body and voice is more effective at humanizing, but that is all subjective I guess.

The "how", was sort of asking how did they let the gap tooth slip by, postulating that maybe it wasn't intentional? perhaps the designers were more focused on her physique and other assets, or the modelers created her with her mouth closed most of the time. maybe the gap tooth didn't really become apparent until they added the glow to her and made her teeth shine brighter. I dont know.

Wasn't Cortana modeled after her "creator" in the Halo universe? It would make sense if she had those flaws in that case, since she would mirror the flaws of that person. I think the goal was to make her look more like a real person because she's supposed to be modeled after one.

Yeah, that.

Good man, I was about to mention Ivy and her legendary transformation into that boobtastic string bikini absurdity. More ridiculous than Sophitia imo.
Indeed, thanks for the pic. I remembered Ivy as being already over-the-top sexualized, so I figured, meh how bad could it really get? And then these balloon tits... lol.

especially having a job fighting undead mutant freaks of course hes going to get bigger

I hate both of those designs so much. The one Joanna Dark design I actually like is the one from when PDZero was still a Gamecube game (and everyone else hates it because it reminds them of the cartoon girl from eSurance).

Eeeeh, I don't see it. The shoulders are showing, yeah, but otherwise, pretty tame. More like they just change the art style.

Now, Medusa. That's legit.

On Samus:

Yeah, you see her in a swimsuit at the end in the best endings, but she's small and pixelated and just standing there. From what you can make out, she seems to have a slim to athletic build.

Man, Samus has some big ol' boobs in Metroid II. At first glance they don't look that big, then you realize they're spilling out the sides of the tank top.

That one is an example of how to make her less attractive... Darker is better for her.

Give me back old Euro Joanna...

Gamecube one was alright, but I'd rather have the original with more poly's...

art-joanna-dark-1-500h.png

Original Render is near perfect. Maybe add some curves and make her more lean.

XBLA version is great minus the Makeup and glamour.

This one's nice enough, but the style isn't in the same vein as Perfect Dark.

joanna_1.png

Perfect Dark Source mod was way too curvy, but looked good.

I don't know how can people prefer the "Dorky looking" RE:1 Jill (seriously, those shoulder pads...) to RE:3 Jill. I agree the later is a ridiculous outfit when facing a zombie breakout, but nothing tops dat sexyness...

I think the real reason she was taken out of V was because at the age of 46 her massive rack would be sagging too much. Ivy is immortal or whatever so she defies aging.

I was never really a fan of Joanna's promotional appearances, but I did like how she ended up in the game itself. It's probably my favourite female design in all of video games.

PD1.jpg

But then they kinda ruined that in the XBLA version and turned her into Devon Aoki.

It's the only thing that I absolutely hate about the new version. It's almost criminal.
