Custom Cover Art - Minimalist, clean, or alternative box arts for your favorite games

I threw one together a while back in this thread for Gravity Rush, but wasn't able to really test it since I didn't have a working printer at the time. Since no one bothered to give me any feedback on how it fit, I kind of lost interest and never got back to it. I replaced my printer, so I spent a few minutes tweaking it, let me know if it works.

You wouldn't happen to know the individual dimensions of the front, rear, and spine would you?

nice one, fvng!

hey, odd request but does anyone have a scan of the cover to the Wii-U version of Sonic All-Star Racing Transformed?

Dead Link on this one, can anyone mirror it?

Edit: I recreated it on my own but I'm weary about posting it since the original idea wasn't mine

If alr1ght do not update his links or repost by himself, I do have this DMC cover from him downloaded, and could upload it if people need/want it.

I think that's best as long as its the original, so he gets credit for the work.

Thanks!

Unfortunately I don't. My old eyes can't get that accurate with the rulers I have. I need to go out and get one that's a bit more precise.
Ruler, not eyes, though if I could...

Okay my first attempt at a cover, be gentle:

Bioshock Infinite:

Great work man! I really like that. Personally I don't care for the PS banners/spines on my own covers, but that is a personal thing. The cover looks wonderful.

Currently trying to make my own MH3U (Wii U and 3DS) covers, but... I can't stop playing long enough to open up Photoshop >.>

God bless you for using proper spines. Looks awesome.

Thank you both, I prefer the official spines to keep it consistent with the rest of my shelf, but I see the appeal in both.

Thanks for the feedback!

I'm probably in the minority that enjoyed this early current gen game, but I decided to give it a revamped cover since the really old ps3 covers with the spiderman font were awful.

my second cover:

Kane & Lynch: Dead Men [Official Spines] [Minimalist Design]

JoBot 8000 made a really awesome minimalist K&L2 cover last year, but it's not listed on the table of contents of covers for this thread. It can be found here

what do you guys print these out on?

I think the tutorial near the beginning of the thread is long overdue for a revision. It's way too brief and doesn't answer most questions.

For one it says to use A4 paper and the Kinkos I went to said they don't carry non American standards. I don't think A4 is available in glossy paper either.

Couldn't use letter size because it would get cut off by the printer for not being long enough so I've had to use 11x17 paper which left a lot to be cut off when it could have easily fit on letter sized glossy (if I could figure out how to do letter size printing without any clipping)

Hoping for a more thorough guide at some point.

GAF, I've made a couple of Mario Galaxy... Where should I host them? The links in the OP still work, but I guess MediaFire is a no-go?

Mediafire is fine. They changed thei link system some time ago, so old links shouldnt work normally. I use mediafire and I think its pretty great. After you have uploaded it click on "Share" and just copy paste the text on the bottom.

------------

We should really discuss and seek ideas for the thread problem. Maybe even start a new thread. But dont rush this, we would have to find someone who is really behind the custom cover idea and can guarrantee that he would update the original post reguarly.

Tutorials are not the problem, we could edit them together.

All my links from first page still work, how did they change them if some peoples links seem to no longer work?

My guess is that there used to be another option to copy the DL link in a format that no longer works. That would explain why some old links work but not others.

Public service message to all, it looks like the magic formula to getting a lot of these bad MediaFire links to work is to change a link like this...

to this...

Great job on those covers! Any chance you could convert the Lost Planet ones to 360 if you get a chance? Also, if you could also edit a copy of that Oblivion one to not have the standard spine but WITH the spine title, that would be great. Keep up the good work!

So here it is folks, sorry it took so long to upload. Forgive the horrid quality of the pictures, my real camera broke, so I took these with a potato.

Total number of covers converted: 63/85

Thank you all so much for all your hard work and please keep it up!

The Collection Album

EDIT: I suppose I'll add the few titles I still haven't converted if anyone is feeling ambitious.

360:
- Call of Duty: Black Ops 2
- Dragon Age 2
- Forza 3
- Fracture
- Halo Wars
- Lost Planet: Extreme Condition
- Prototype
- Singularity
- Tenchu Z
- Tomb Raider: Anniversary
- Too Human

PS3:
- Brutal Legend
- Jak & Daxter Collection
- Lair
- Lord of the Rings: Conquest
- Midnight Club: Los Angeles
- The Orange Box (A couple great ones on here for 360 but not PS3)
- Spider-Man: Web of Shadows
- Splinter Cell Trilogy

I'll try! I haven't worked with the 360 templates before, I'll post it If can make it look purdy.

quite nice, any chance of 1 and 3 with minimal spines?

I'll see if I can figure something out. I tried before, and the black PS3 font featured on the top of the cover overlapped with the 'saturday evening post' logo and it became a mess. I'll see if I can come up a workaround.

The Last Of Us:
Here I go with The Last Of Us cover. We still have over 70 days to world premiere but it's never too soon for custom cover launch ;)
Feedback is much appreciated!
/updated printable file after few proof's which were too bright and the logo wasn't enough visible and the blood drops are more red now than brown/

I've been making a number of covers (probably around 50-60 games done) to go along with the Essence Collection from VGBoxArt, just finished a box art for The Last of Us. I'll try to upload them all withing the next few days if anyone wants them. Here's an example, hope you all like them!

I love this styling. Reminds me of the old GAF Collection thread.

TOMB RAIDER
And here is my cover for Tomb Raider.
I love the commercial version so I've decided to make it cleaner sister.
The artwork which was posted here on neogaf don't fit all of the cover's place,
so I've used duplicate of artwork, flip it horizontally,
and combine into the original one that it fit all of the cover's frame.
It looks pretty good I think.

Bigdrbingo - interesting concept from Vgb, didn't know that. Looks great!

przemekszulim - Exactly my ideal type of cover! Clean, if possible one picture (or 2 but with a nice transistion, I don't like if there are 2 pictures with a rough edge), main right side, little on the left side. Would have cut the "Limited Edition", but still looks good! I also like the little "I changed that, that is from there, and that was really difficult"-story. Doing that myself because I think its pretty interesting.

Keep up the work!

I have little time atm., will maybe do a Guacameele cover next week. Hope it stays that cool like in the first 30 minutes, then I'll do it.

I like the style of the limited edition and especially this typography. It may actually be unnecessary to add this small element to my cover because my cover is not even close to be limited edition :p

The main concept was to create a cover with artwork (which didn't fit the canvas of cover template) from commercial version, without all of the labels etc etc. And of course I was not looking for "copy and paste the artwork job" :)

Thank you for your kind words sir :)

Gran Turismo 5 Cover
I'm big fan of this game. The job was "simple", I had to choose the best image from photomode that would fit the unique style of GT5. The choice of that pic took me a few ours.
The result is one of the most eye catching photos of GTP community from Shaolinmasta placed in the PS3 cover canvas.
My job was to put the logo on the cover. Which was easy because I have a source psd file from PlayStation.
I hope you will like it because there are not many covers for GT5.

God of War Ascension

This is one of the best covers I've done. The background is completely original element created from the several slices of official artworks with Kratos.
Nowhere you can find such a big and clean background. It took some time to fit all the pieces to look like a unified whole.
Then it was time to put logos and maintain consistency with the original cover color and tone style.

I know this isn't really the place to go for official covers but I'm out of ideas at this point.

Anyone have any suggestions on where to find a Star Ocean Second Evolution cover? Cover Project doesn't have it on their site or forums and Google hasn't been helpful.

More Injustice covers, this time for the PS3.

I can't find a higher resolution of this one, you can see Harley's fingers are a bit pixelated. So I cheated, nothing a little smoke and blur can't fix, lol.
