ZWEI (Shinji Mikami) may have a multiplayer component

For those who missed it, here's a compilation of known things:

-game is a TPS, an action game, with guns
-X360/PS3 release confirmed
-will use HAVOK physics engine
-heavy use of environmental effects and physics simulations
-they're looking for an animator with experience in "crowd animation". I'm thinking next-gen ganados V2 (job listing)
-most probable time to expect new info: month of April. Last year tango gameworks held their "Tango Night" on 22/4.

For the multiplayer: job listing 1, job listing 2 . "Experience in network programming in real-time game" and "Communication skills in development work in multiplayer"

I'm thinking ... COOP.

Update:

Job listings have been magically removed as of 28/03. You can still verify them on the tango website.

They have also mentioned it's using a licensed engine in the past.

Given that they accept PhysX experience as well, I'd guess Unreal.

Edit:

Here it is:

I'll put this in easier to read bullet list format, though I suggest checking out the link for more:

-Will be released in 2013 or later.
-Tango is currently 65 employees, may get up to 100.
-Mikami expects it to be the largest staff count he has ever worked with on a game.
-Would like to have two teams eventually, with a smaller team making smaller/more experimental projects to help train staff.
-They're using an external engine that they heavily modified. It's probably worth noting that Unreal Engine 3 is the only really major middleware engine with good Japanese support these days, especially for AAA games. Well, there's also Gamebryo, but let's hope not.
-Mikami would like his first game to sell 500K-1 million copies in Japan. For reference, only ten PS3 titles have ever sold over 500K copies in Japan, and only one has sold over a million.
-"Mikami, incidentally, had praise for Skyrim, saying that it stimulated him as a creator. It was the first time he'd found a game interesting in some time."

Edit:

Since several people seemed to have this question, Shinji Mikami is the game's executive producer. Ikumi Nakamura is directing the title.

Hail, peons, for I have come as ambassador from the great and bountiful Blueberry Butt Explosion
I love me some co-op! Looking forward to hearing more about this.

Damn shame, game is going to get lost in next-gen hype and bomb catastrophically. They better at least do a straight 1080p port to next-gen consoles if you want to have any chance.

It's been officially confirmed as a PS3/360 game? I kind of thought that it was going to be a next-gen title.

But going by Nirolak's details it makes sense for it to be at least be on current-gen consoles. No way is he going to hit that sales targets with only next-gen consoles.

This might be very likely. I saw some developer desk shots with a familiar looking level editor but it was too blurry to distinguish anything.
It didn't cross my mind that they might be working with UnrealEd, we might confirm they're using UE3 with 100% certainty.

ZeniMax has implied in interviews they're going to go with cross-gen for a bit.

Action Game?

Co-op?

Now I'm interested. Would love to see Mikami evolve RE4 into RE5 himself

OK, so another RE4 game.

Horror genre on consoles is dead.

Good riddance I say :p

Not "officially" but you can determine it pretty easily.
In almost every developer shot there's a X360/PS3 pad nearby.
Their programmer job listing asks for "experience with PS3/X360 SDK and hardware". They're using older versions of visual studio (2008) compatible with earlier x360 SDK versions, etc ... .

They're not working on 2 games at the same time, given their relatively small number of staff members.

He can do whatever the hell he wants to after RE4.

I have yet to play a 3rd person shooter that I enjoyed as much as I did RE4.

Vanquish was great. But RE4 was a much better overal game. And the original RE games have nowhere near the refined game mechanics complexity.

If he somehow makes a better game then RE4 it'll be the only game I'll need that year.

wasnt this a fuckin horror game? :S :(
It's also a AAA console game in 2013 or later.

It's generally the extreme rarity for those to not have multiplayer.

Even CD Projekt is jumping in the pool.

Some of Warner Montreal's job postings make me wonder about the next Batman title as well.

I honestly just wish it's not co-op

at least not in the way that the game is designed around it

I wanna be alone with shinji again

I think I got faith because Dishonored didn't get multiplayer and thought Zenimax will do that again.

Is this Platinum?

Some former Platinum staff is at Tango. Most notably Masaaki Yamada and Ikumi Nakamura, whom were two of the game designers on Bayonetta under Hiroshi Shibata. The latter of whom Mikami seems to be personally grooming to be a director at the studio. I think she might still be officially filling that role on this title

but there's also staff from Grasshopper, and Capcom as well.

and I think after Game Republic folded Tango hired a bunch of their staff as well.

So Tango is basically alot of talented people from alot of talented Japanese studios combined

So happy to see that potential isn't being wasted on something boring and archaic like "pure survival horror". lol

Bring on action bring on co-op I say.

What were those games anyway? I can't find the story originally revealing this.

I think I got faith because Dishonored didn't get multiplayer and thought Zenimax will do that again.

Well, one thing worth considering is that Dishonored was in development for 3-5 years, and unlike the survival horror genre these days, there wasn't really a strong precedent for multiplayer in the genre it was in.

A spiritual successor to RE4 directed by Mikami is something I'd want pretty hard.

Whatever it ends up being, I'm not worried about quality.
