Deus Ex: Human Revolution |OT| I never asked for this... It gave me lemon-lime

About the Missing Link DLC; I haven't downloaded it yet off EU PSN, but to play it is it a seperate option on the game's main menu, or is it a mission that becomes available as I play through the game?

Also I plan on playing the game on the highest difficulty+pacifist stealth run, so I'd like tips for making this playthrough easier or less tedious? I've read that the game has annoying bosses so I'd like some tips for handling them too.
One advice I was given was to always hide the body, so I should put knocked out enemies in areas where other enemies don't patrol.

The anwser to your first question: It is played separately from the main game. There is an option in the menu.

Bought The Missing Link on the PSN sale and loved it. Was a lot of fun and made me remember how much I enjoyed the game. It was nice to see that they took the criticisms about the boss fights on board. I need more DLC or a sequel!

I appear to have run into my first bug. It's a side mission in first area, called 'Cloak and Daggers'. One of the objectives is to 'get to Derelict Row' and 'remain unseen in DRG territory'. I did the rest of the objectives.... now when I walk through the downtown apartments area (near the basketball hoop) it suddenly fails me on those two objectives simultaneously. But if I walk around the other way (through the subway where that dude is dancing) it doesn't fail and I can walk all the way up to the Derelict Row area.

Have I missed something, or is this a glitch? (I should point out that I had previously killed a bunch of guys in that basketball area, but that should be completely unrelated?)

Cloak and Daggers is infamously fucked for a ton of people and they never fixed it.

Just pulled this game off my pile of shame and so far so good. I'm about 7 hours in and decided to buy the tactical enhancement pack and explosive mission pack. Prob I'm having is how the hell do I access the stuff I just bought. I expected to jump back into my game and have 10k extra credits along with some extra weapons but that's not the case. Do I have to start a new game to get this stuff?

Sorry if this has already been addressed but I searched the thread and didn't see an answer.

You get the Tactical Enhancement stuff at the start of the first real level (Milwaukee Junction, after the tutorial). The Explosive Mission pack puts an extra mission about halfway through the game (you can't miss it, if you have the pack it becomes a required mission) and scatters the remote detonated explosive devices and automatic unlocking devices throughout the game.

If you want the Tactical Enhancement stuff at the start of the game, you'll unfortunately have to restart.

Thanks. I'm about seven hours in now so I guess there's no way to get the tactical enhancement stuff at this point? Suppose I'll just start a new game. Can't stand wasting money. Thanks again.

Well, I think the weapons it gives you may pop up in shops, come to think of it...but you won't get the extra 10,000 credits. However, you don't need all of those credits, honestly. It kind of breaks the game a bit, as I never once had any need for money during the entire game (during each of the four times I've played it).

Anyway, somebody else might have to chime in, but I think you still might be able to get the silenced sniper rifle and double barrel shotgun from shops. Don't really know, as I've never really used either weapon.

Yeah, I guess I was just steamed over not getting the 10k credits but whatever. I'm enjoying the game a lot and don't want to start over just to get credits when I'll probably have more than I'll need in just a few more hours of play. And I'm playing a non-lethal play through so I'm not using much besides my dart rifle anyway. I'll keep going. Thanks again.

Yeah, and if you are ever running low on credits, it's fairly easy to just run around and pick up all the fallen weapons you don't use and sell them. You can earn a lot of money that way. You also get quite a few from various sidequests.

Also, the game is one of those that lends itself well to future playthroughs. So if you ever end up playing it again, you will get the tactical enhancement stuff everytime you play.

Anyway, hope you enjoy the game. It's one of my favorites.

The Deus Ex franchise and all DLC is 75% off again on Steam today. Man this game goes on sale a lot...

If anybody hasn't picked up the DLC yet, I definitely recommend The Missing Link. Really, really well done DLC with a great locale, interesting new characters, and the same great Deus Ex gameplay.

Played this game a while back, thinking about buying it on Steam. I liked it, but I"m questioning whether or not I should get the pack that includes everything including the original game?

Is it safe to say that we are not going to see any more DLC for this game? =(

They seemed to be hinting at it for awhile, but it's been ages since we've heard anything...so I'm going to hazard a guess that there will be no more DLC. Sadness.

Really hope Eidos Montreal is working on a sequel. From what I've heard, it sounds like the studio is working on some other unannounced project on top of Thief 4 and the Tomb Raider multiplayer. HR was very successful, so I would be very surprised if a sequel isn't announced soon.

Although the development cycle will likely be quite long. HR took them 4+ years.

The original game is absolutely fantastic, and one of the best games of all time. You really owe it to yourself to play it. As for Invisible War, I haven't played it, but most say it's fairly bad. If you're not interested in teh DLC, it would be cheaper to just pick up Human Revolution and DX1 separately.

Just started playing this game. Fun game so far

I wonder there is an achievement where you have to find 29 ebooks in the game. Are any of them missable? Or can I revisit the places to pick them up?

Yep. This achievement is missable. That's the reason why I don't have 100% cheevos in this game (this is the only non-DLC cheevo that I don't have). It's a pain. :/
There are 29 ebooks you must pick up, but there are loads of ebooks in the game, but you need those specific 29. You can miss them pretty easily (I missed something near the very beginning, ugghhhhh). Be sure to work this with a guide.

I did so for the first few ebooks. But then I realized I didn't enjoy the game doing so all the time :/

Edit: Just checked a guide I used. It seems that there are areas that only can be visited during missions. I guess I can use this guide while doing the missions.

Started playing this a couple days ago. Damn, game is awesome. Feels like I'm playing a serious Metal Gear Solid RPG, and I LOVE IT.

I want to start deus ex HR again but have a few questions if anyone can help me:

-Was the stutter fixed? I quit because of it ages ago hoping they'd fix it
-I'd like to use ENB for it, does it work with the steam version? Does it work on amd? (google pointed to a dennis post and he said nvidia only but that was like 2 years old)
-any installation advice? I went to the deus ex enb guy's site but his broken english is hard to make sense of.
As in, what order do I install it in, do I need a specific version of the patch?
On the ENB website I find gems like
Deus Ex Human Revolution game was buggy, i did several patches for fixing crashes, increase performance and remove stuttering. Latest game version with ENB patch have negative impact when loading level if shader cache enabled in patch.
The guy has his own patch for the game, do I even need that?

Basically what I'm asking is what do I need to do to get the STEAM VERSION of the game working without stuttering and WITH enb (hd6870 amd card if that matters)
Lastly: any general tips when playing the game? I can't remember anything about my last partial playthrough tbh.

Can't answer your ENB problem, but why do you say Steam version? Deus Ex HR is a steamworks game. So there can't be another versions, or are there other versions I missed?

I haven't seen any stutter problems. (Currently playing it now)

I don't know xD I was thinking about gta4 which had problems with enb on steam (due to being stuck on newest patch in hindsight), never occured to me that deus ex doesn't have a standalone version.

I tried the enb thing but idk if it's working, it looks like garbage to me. Can't remember if the game looked this rough last time I played it.

They fixed the stutter for awhile, but then for whatever reason another patch was released that made it come back for most people. However, this fixes it for pretty much everybody.

Can't help with ENB. I installed it once, but the mouse lag made it unplayable for me. Your mileage may vary, of course.

I have no stutter with the latest patch (the game used to suffer from horrible stuttering last time I tried it over a year or maybe longer ago), thank god for that.

Ended up playing without the enb as the shadows were all weird (rings/bands in the shadows on walls).

Loving the game (near the end of detroid now about 8 hours in I think), I just wish they had fixed the stutter before releasing the fucking game (what happened to QA...)
It hasn't held up that well graphically and there is still some glitchyness (screen flickers black at times in dx11 mode)

Grabbed the game on PC for something equal to $5. Downloading it right now.

I used to play it on console but never completed it due to the boss fights. Any good advice on how to down them with minimal swearing and general frustration? :D

I really want to like this game as the Blade Runner vibe is totally there. And it also got an amazing Metacritic rating. So there clearly must be something I'm not getting...

The first boss I threw toxic gas tubes and explosive barrels at him.
The second boss, use luck
The third boss I was lucky and had a grenade launcher, 3-4 grenades killed that guy.
The final boss was the easiest to defeat, used grenade launcher to take out the turrets, Hacked the computers, killed the human cores, and let the electrical discharge kill the "zombies".

Just keep like 6 mines or grenades at all times. Mines are a bit easier to work with. There are only 4 bosses and they are all really fucking easy (sub 30 seconds) with a mines or grenades. Those items waste very little inventory space as well and are very easy to just find around environments (there are a ton of mines in Detroit).

Thanks for the advice. I'm a bit sceptical about the second boss, though. I remember the first one, but I'm not sure if I ever got to the second.

The boss fights are pretty bad, but are really a small part of an otherwise fantastic game. If you utilize a few tricks, they can also be pretty quick and painless, even if you've been investing in stealth throughout the game..

First boss:
See all of the barrels around the room? Those are the key to an easy victory over this boss. Just pick them up and throw them at him. Not only do they do a ton of damage, they also stun him for a bit. You can also use your stun gun to stun him for a few seconds, unload some shotgun rounds into him, and then run away. Don't get too close to him (unless you're using the stun gun) and stay mobile.

Second boss:
I recommend investing in either Typhoon or electricity resistance before this fight. Typhoon makes ridiculously quick work of her. If you have electricity resistance, there's these pillars around the edges you can shoot, which will electrocute the water. If she's in the vicinity she'll be hurt and stunned by it.

Third boss:
Make sure you don't get your biochip replaced, or this fight is a lot harder. Just keep mobile during this fight. If you have the laser rifle and see through walls aug, just run to the other side of the room, and snipe him through the walls. If you don't, then just make sure you keep moving, and don't fire at him for long.

If you have the hacking turrets aug, there's also a turret you can hack earlier in the level. You can carry it all the way to the boss room, and it will attack him. So you can just hit your invis aug, and sit there and watch him die.

Fourth boss:
Laser rifle. You can shoot her right through the glass and end the fight in about five seconds.

Thanks, great overview. Seems like there are a couple of tricks to use.

I've just completed the intro sequence. Brilliantly executed.

Some exciting news on the soundtrack front:

We are currently working to feature additional music from the Deus Ex: Human Revolution soundtrack that was not included on the retail release. Tracks will include those from ‘The Missing Link’ DLC, as well as additional cues from the full game. Please check back in the early spring, or follow McCann on Twitter or Facebook for updates on when these tracks will become available.

Is it just me or are the gun shots in this game completely out of sync? It's not matching the screen at all!

It's strange as all other sounds are working just fine...

Is there any noticeable difference between the 360 and PS3 versions?

Because they cost $3 new each here in Denmark and I already got it for PS3 but I'm thinking of getting the 360 version.

Is The Missing Link DLC worth it? It's $7.49 on PS3 right now and I'm might tempted to get it since I've been wanting to replay the game for a while now. Or should I just wait for a Steam sale and pick it up there when I get a new PC.

I need help with the Motherly love Side quest:
I'm supposed to meet an officer by the police station, but one path that leads to him has electricity running on the ground, how am I supposed to reach him?

There's at least four ways there, IIRC...

The easiest way is to get the high jumping augmentation. Then you can jump the fence that's right next to the police station. Alternatively, if you have the lift heavy things augment, you can pile some dumpsters and climb over those.

You can grab a couple of boxes and put them on the ground with electricity. Just put one down, pick the other one up and put it in front of you, and repeat. Eventually you'll reach the switch to turn off the power.

There's a way there from the sewers, although I don't remember the exact route.

And you can also go through the police station, and exit a door on the top floor.

Ah, the box method seems about right, can't believe I didn't think of that, thanks for the info mate!

Overall I'm enjoying the game, and I am aiming at a Pacifist Stealth run. 'Suspicious' doesn't count as an Alarm right?

No problem, glad it helped. The game generally does a great job at giving you a lot of possible ways to achieve an objective.

I'm pretty sure suspicious doesn't count as an alarm. I'm not entirely sure, as I never finished a Ghost playthrough (just a no-kills one).

While I'm still fairly early in the game what tips do you guys recommend for dealing with bosses? As in what tactics or weapons are best used against them?
I don't have the tranq. gun but have the Stun Gun.
