German source :

(Bad) translation by Google translate, modified a little bit:
An official statement by Sega is still pending, but after the last few days the release of Aliens Colonial Marines has been questioned on Wii U, it seems the plug was finally pulled .
As we were told from retailer-sources, they are currently being informed that the Wii U version will no longer be released. Whether this applies only in this country or in Europe, or also affects the U.S. release, is also currently unclear - on the U.S. Amazon site, Colonial Marines for Wii U is nowhere to be found.

And it's official :

Interesting. Same thing I heard months ago. That Sega was telling retailers the Wii U version of ACM was cancelled. Sega denied it.

Shit I remember when Wii U fans were so excited for this game and the DEFINITIVE VERSION :lol

Good news though, now no more people will be tricked into buying Gearbox's garbage.

Have to admit I was curious to see if Demurge was somehow able to pull something off with the Wii U version. But if Sega is pulling the plug it was most likely in bad shape.

Was this not one of the games WiiU fans were boasting about due to it being a superior multiplat. If only they knew. We were all fooled :(

Oh we are. Course it's easy to be fooled when those selling the game to the press are 100 percent lying about the game and showing faked demos of something that doesn't even exist.

I can't wait for the next round of Pitchford interviews, who the fuck is going to believe a single word he says?

The PR repeaters that pretend to be gaming journalists.

The only chance the Wii U version had was to hit at the same time as the PS3/360 versions. Once it became clear that the Wii U was - for whatever reasons - struggling worldwide, that already made the prospects for the Wii U version shaky.

Add the utterly corrosive word-of-mouth generated by the poor quality of the game itself and its failure to hit the promised standard of the pre-release videos and the strong hints that the outsourced port was not matching up to the 360/PS3 versions and you've got a bloody good case for shutting the thing down entirely.

Are bad games better than no games?

Considering the huge glut of bad shovelware titles the Wii had, it definitely gave the console a worse rep than it deserved. In this case, it really doesn't hurt the system at all at this point, seeing that the few games it is getting, are actually pretty good games.

Didn't the game sell surprisingly well for being such a steaming turd? I red boxed it and beat it in a couple days but I thought it charted on the top 10 NPD.

Actually seems strange they wouldn't just go ahead and release it on WiiU since it has to be finished right? I don't know anything about publishing costs but it seems stupid to leave @50000 sales just sitting on the table like that. Just do a limited production run or go digital only.

Hype and being part of the Aliens franchise sold those copies, not the quality of the game itself.

Some of that shovelware moved a lot of units.

Wasn't Carnival Games on the Wii a huge selling title?

At the same time is not like those that bought the Wii are upgrading to the WiiU.

It sounds as though it isn't finished - or at least not in a polished state - from the talk that started spilling when the game launched on the other platforms. Given that the 360/PS3/PC release has already pissed in the drinking water, it's very unlikely Sega would be able to persuade anyone to come and take a sip for another version, especially as any positive pre-release hype is (understandably) likely to be discounted given the experience with the other versions.

This is one game I'm glad didn't come and didn't come on time. Had it come on time, I was totally sold by the hype -- for the regular game, the fake/BS preview footage, and all that good talk about the motion sensor... it just sounded great.

A better thing than cancellation would have been to actually make it as good as it should have been, but alas...

I agree... if this is done and they sold it for 29.99 it would sell for the motion tracker alone. Wii U owners are starving for anything at this point.

Only Carnival Games and Wii Sports/Resort/Play took off like a rocket, all the other shovelware Wii Sports clones sold like crap in comparison. It's kind of the same situation for the AAA fps market where CoD sells a bajillion, BF sells a little less than a bajillion, and then nothing else in that same market comes anywhere near.

Guessing that the cancellation had more to do with the reception on other platforms than with Wii U sales, but who knows. Either way, no great loss.

This is one of those rare games where I'm HAPPY with it being cancelled. Releasing this would've had no benefit, and it's not even due to the Wii U install base, hell it might actually do decently if there's enough dumb people who will buy this without know if it's good or not.

Less bad games the better.
