Hopefully my local retailer will have this in stock 2-3 day after release. Don't want to wait 1 month for shipping from Zavvi.

hopefully my zavvi preorders count for this, disappointed they arent doing a fancier LE release but I'll take it

I'm still amazed that EU get it at the same time as the US for once. Waiting for Amazon pre-orders to go up before I decide to go with them or Shopto

So do all pre-orders of this game receive the first print? If I were to pre-order right now am I guaranteed this version?

Also since it seems Zavvi has taken a turn for the worse since I last used them anyone have any suggestion on where to pre-order this if I am shipping to the US? I see game.co.uk is taking pre-orders.

All pre-orders should count, but you can always email them to make sure. GAME should deliver worldwide, but as a UK customer I can't really help you since I'm not sure who exports from, here

Release date given for EU is August 9th, same week as NA.

You can always import considering there's not a several-month delay this time, if NA doesn't get something similar.

i would but i rather support american. one day who knows that that the system will be region locked and when they see europe gets most of the sales they'll just release future games there instead ;P

God this pisses me off. EU always get better CE's than the NA. What do you want to bet all we get is a costume and or theme download again?

I'll take an avatar bet. lol

Looks pretty good! Will be getting this. That gives me 4 months to finish Symphonia at last before this comes out.

How is this game?

Preface: I have not played it

The generalized response seems to be (obviously opinions differ but this seems to be common):

-Better characters and story than Graces but not as good as Vesperia
-Combat not as fun as Graces, but still good
-In particular, boss battles are not fun
-The skill linking system makes co-op worse in some way

Also, I heard it doesn't have extra content you'd expect from a Tales game. So, no coliseum? No side quests at all?

Wait why Zavvi is bad?
I got my Ni no Kuni Wizard Edition from there.

other people didnt get what they ordered
some people got what they ordered but only after months of hassle
some people got what they ordered but damaged

zavvi are great when everytiong goes smoothly, it just often doesnt
still ordered this from them because it was insanely cheap though so shame on me I guess

Wait, is NA getting this special edition? I've had the game preordered on Amazon for awhile and they only list the regular edition. They also list 12/31 as the release date.

I doubt it. EU got a similar deal for Graces F, we got some costumes and a ps3 theme.

I have no real clue, but we didn't get the Graces one, so I wouldn't get your hopes really.

Technically speaking, release dates and Day One editions have not been officially announced to the public for any region. The August 6th NA date was told to the media, some of which have reported it (Kotaku was first). The European Twitter accounts (@TalesofuU and @NamcoBandaiUK) were teasing 'important news' coming soon earlier this morning. Then this image was spotted on Gamekyo, which is likely the news they were teasing, although a Namco mouth has not announced it directly. There has been no teasing or anything for an NA Day One edition yet.

Now they have.

Do these games do better in Europe or something? It's surprising because several releases are just extremely late coming over, never mind the ones that don't make it at all. As a European I'm not complaining that we get a Day 1 Edition, but after all those years of being shafted by Japanese companies in favour of the US, I know what it feels like and wouldn't wish it on anyone. So it would be shady if you Americans didn't get the same.

With the release of this game in the EU at pretty much the same time as the US, here's hoping they treat everyone equally going forward

I think they've finally figured out that JRPGs are more popular in Europe than they are in the US.

So it's more or less a 'worldwide' release which is what I would expect due to it not being out until August.

Great to have confirmation then.

It has a coliseum but the main reason a lot of fans care about the coliseum side quest in the first place (Tales cameos) isn't there.

It also has side quests but a lot of them are in the MMO-style that's pretty trendy with JRPGs these days.

So the difference between the Collector's edition and the Day One edition is the figure and maybe a larger artbook? (Day one says 50 pages, collector says 100, although it could just be counting front and back sides or something.)

Oh, that doesn't sound so bad then. Does it have many skits? I hope those are all voiced this time too.

Looks like the "Free Pre-order Bonus DLC" is:
  • Cress Outfit (Jude)
  • Cress Hairstyle (Jude)
  • Cress' Longsword
  • Stahn Outfit (Milla)
  • Stahn Hairstyle (Milla)
  • As well as a wallpaper and Icons.

I assume this would come with any pre-order, not just the Collector's edition.

I'm not sure if I'll bother with the collector's edition. Don't really care for stuff like that. Besides I find Milla's outfit kind of tacky, and having a model of her just doesn't seem right lol

I hope the artbook will have same amount of pages because I won't buy the Collector's Edition and this figure is better :D

Do we have any sales numbers for Graces F comparing EU and the US? Or even Tales of the Abyss 3D? Not so much the latter since for EU it's anew game so therefore not a fair comparison
