2. If it was his shirt causing the liquid in question to change color, the color would be a tan because of his jacket, which the most behind the glass from the shot's view point.
3. You're blind and that looks like red wine.
Edit: 4. Having stuff behind water really doesn't change the color or make it opaque. See:
