Unannounced horror game(?) from Climax Studios

Thought this was thread worthy. These images are on Climax Studios' homepage and they look to fit the tone of the horror genre (the doll aesthetics look notably creepy and intriguing, imo). In case you didn't know, Climax are known for the less formulaic Silent Hill: Shattered Memories.

According to Wikipedia (without any citation), the studio's two upcoming titles are both published by Konami and both are set for release in 2013. Based on Sony's list of developers supporting the PS4, this game might be coming to the platform (or the list could only refer to the studio's Character Action Platformer)

It's either from a canceled project, or just some concept art. I doubt they'd post up screens of something currently in development.

Looks a bit cliched but I will take any horror at this point.

Clichéd from a visual perspective? Or from a game perspective? Because I would love to play all the horror games that feature doll aesthetics that makes this game look "clichéd".

I thought Shattered Memories was pretty much on par with the classic Silent Hill games, so ... I've got very high hopes for a new Climax horror game. Actually, I've been waiting for this ever since I've played SM. It's rough around the edges (but so were SH1-4), but definitely an amazing experience.

Climax, what games have they released? I remember when PS3 and Xbox 360 were about to be shown, these guys showed a futuristic car combat game for them and it was never released.

Shattered Memories was really rough at its weakest moments, but there were a lot of good ideas at play (especially for the Silent Hill franchise), they had a strong vision, and the story remains one of my favourite in gaming.

In other words, I'm okay with them taking horror out for another spin.

I loved SH1-3 but never cared to finish Shattered Memories or anything after 4 really. If there's no rifles or over the shoulder perspective in this game, I'll give it a try.

oh my god yes

I absolutely LOVE Shattered Memories. One of the most unique experiences in recent years. Super pumped for this.

If the unsourced wiki is to be trusted could this be another reimagining to silent hill?
Seems odd for konami to try another horror series when they have SH under their belt.

The only issue I could see is that Downpour was just last year. But if this is a later in the year seems like that would be enough of a gap.

The second screen shot looks like its taken off a TV. Not saying it is, that would be stupid. But the colors really give it that effect, at least for me.

Especially when it looks to be a new IP, thus making them free from the tired conventions and tropes of the SH series.

Agreed. And it's ironic, given they had a better, more appropriate vision for a post-Team Silent Silent Hill than Konami has.

The image in the OP looks very cool, i especially like the knees on the female doll.

Also, please be a new IP and not a Silent Hill, please..

EDIT: Oh wait it had loaded just the first image, when i posted, yeah no this looks fantastic, very intrigued.

Looks creepy. Maybe another point n click type adventure game maybe? If it is I hope they have actual puzzles this time.

Glad to see they're trying something horror that isn't Silent Hill. It isn't right?

Intriguing. The studio's got some talent with horror games, would definitely want to see more of it from them.

I agree. If this ends up being an actual game, I'm definitely getting it!

I'm looking forward to it, and I agree, it looks to star a family of dolls in a desolated doll house (the furniture looks rather plastic, such as the phone, cabinet, stove, TV, etc).

Abandoned dolls becoming haunted is the sort of vibe I'm getting.

Was mostly the stupid faces in the mirrors and TVs that made me go : "eh... come on". Stuff like that just gets a bit silly when used as much as it is.

Arh, you meant the methods of inducing horror. Yeah, I can see that it might invite speculation about how they are going to scare the player (if this is indeed a horror game), but we'll see.

In my opinion, the doll look is sufficiently creepy, mostly in terms of uncanny valley effect. I wonder how they'll animate their body movement and if and how they are going to speak.

Looks interesting. Like the creepy doll look. Be even creepier if they made the animation look like stop motion animation.

I had this weird bug for one level of Infinite where if you looked at Elizabeth from a certain angle, the game only ran her keyframes so all of her movement looked really stilted and weird.
So with that in mind, I imagine they could just get a team of people to mocap the thing acting like dolls and then not have the computer fill in the inbetweens to achieve a stop-mo look without too much of a hassle
