People enjoyed Dragonaut.
I refuse to believe people enjoyed Dragonaut for an engaging and believable plot. I will believe people enjoyed Dragonaut because the majority of the female characters were hefting around a pair of massive "plots" though.
[Rurouni Kenshin: Trust & Betrayal] - Final
This was truly excellent and deserves the canonization that it has received.
I've routinely seen this listed high in OVA lists but I feel I can't really watch it until I've read or watched the series which I tried once and got fairly bored with. Do you think it's possible to go into it blind?

It takes place before the main series. You'll be fine.

Sorry, yurigun fans.

The new season will confirm the garden's destruction.

A panel where she's getting all flustered because the girl's touching her and saying "I-I'm totally not a l-lesbian or anything, baka!" is proof she's not a lesbian? You need to get your yuri goggles checked.

Thanks for that, Studio Deen.

Not to besmirch the good name of anime fans but it's quite often the case that when they recommend or hype an older work it doesn't quite live up to the expectations that they set. This is not one of those cases. This was truly excellent and deserves the canonization that it has received.

I'm glad the director is still working today, even if he is stuck making Gundam Unciorn.
Absolutely. It also houses one one of the best common thug kills of all time.

I've never watched the series. I imagine that I'm missing some references to later stuff, but it's a self-contained story.

So the uniform thread in OT made me wonder, just which anime has the best school uniforms?

Watched Legend of the Legendary Heroes. I Liked it pretty much. Thats where they end it? Theres no S2 to finish off the story? Fark.

*rage*

A deliberate LN/Manga tease? A ratings failure? both?

One piece Movie : Z
One%20Piece%20Film%20Z_01.jpg

Low res pic of the cast in new clothes.
So good.gif

One piece has some pretty strong movies ..heck aside from the third movie, all of them are watchable.
Still Strong world was freaking awesome.. so it would be a mistake to expect better , right ?

WRONG

Movie : Z is awesome ... from start to finish .

There are so many good thing to note in this movie.

Plot :
The straw hat pirates will meet Captain Z , nicknamed "sensei" by some .. Awesome things happen.
( that's all you need to know )

CHARACTERS
One%20Piece%20Film%20Z_02.jpg

Sunglasses, pink hair , awesome habilities + charisma
Everyone is at the top of their game. Including the marines . Everything is spot-on.
I liked the antagonists powers , i liked how they fought ... i Loved the extra characters they added in from the regular plot . Everything was spot-on ..everything worked ..it's .. beautifull

ANIMATION
This movie has a LOOOOT of action . and it's superbly animated everytime , the camera work is fast , to the point it can become confusing ... but with the effects and the numeorus explosions it feel awesome ... i don't mind this result.

Oh and you have a superbe scene with robin dancing that is awesome too .

Overall fight choregraphy was well done.

MUSIC + SOUND EFFECTS
Sound effects are for the most part from the anime , music themes however were nice .. I don't love them , but i don't hate them either.

CONCLUSION
On a visual aspect it's still not on part with movie 6 in term of design , but it's there since everything is animated so well ..there are no defects . in term of story it's better than in strong world IMO. It doesn't feel like an extra adventure but like a legitimate arc in the manga at times.

NOTE : 9/10 ( AWESOME )

Will they manage to do another movie as good ?

It was the adaptation of a light novel prequel series to a main series that has received a sequel I believe. Then I guess bad ratings or sales kept them from making more...though the series seems to constantly be teased to get a BONES treatment to adapt the story (Incredible Legend of the Legendary Heroes)

Jexhius never watched the Kenshin OVA's till now?

Mind blown.

edit: Barring MJP, this looks like a great season to be a mechanime fan

I've got to save something, right?

I assumed that I had have to watch the Kenshin series, but I never succeeded in doing that and therefore I never watched the OVA's.

I guess going to the see the TV series now would be a bit of anti climax.

It's not up to Tsuiokuhen's level, but the Read Or Die OVA is the last great DEEN work.
I thought that people were unanimously surprised by DEEN's attempt on Sankarea a few seasons back? At least for the first few episodes before it all turned into a mess again?

Or are you meaning their last, great, complete work?

Apparently only about 1/4 of it is any good, so I feel pretty safe in not calling it great.

That depends on whether you really liked the tone of the OVA's. Obviously there is no contest in production but I'm sure people have warned you that the series has a completely different feel. Not entirely sure if you'll appreciate it as much. Coming from the tv series first, I didn't entirely appreciate the tone of the OVA's until much later (and learned to accept that both can exist even within the same canon irregardless).

That being said, everything up until and including the Kyoto arc in the TV series is fun stuff.

I think the problem with this scene is that there is no reunion scene with the father and instead just jumps ahead. I understand what they were trying to do but I don't think it was handled in a good manner. They either needed to cut the father rushing home or add in a reunion scene with Eren and him.

I think it was intentional though.

Watch the Oniwabanshu and Kyoto arcs, at least.

Even if the ambiguity was intentional, it doesn't seem like it was handled well. If they wanted to make it all appear as a dream then the father rushing back should have been cut as the way it jumps is awkward. As it stands, it just looks like a poorly edited segment.

People who enjoy shit like SAO don't deserve to be referred to as a "person".
I don't care how many times you try to take it back later or claim it was a joke and you don't really care what other people watch, the fact that you decided to write it down and post it in the first place is a really fucking stupid idea.

Surprised I didn't see anyone mention this yet. I guess most people here mentally filter any news involving him out.

Goro Miyazaki Aims to Complete New Work in 2014
Studio Ghibli director Goro Miyazaki remarked at an event at the Ghibli Museum in Tokyo on Monday that he currently has a new project in development. Miyazaki added that he is currently working on the new project every day, but said that he could not say anything about it right now. He added that the new project should be completed next year.

I'd say the main problem is that Mikasa goes "nah, you couldn't have met your father, that was just a a dream", and yet Eren has the freaking key. And he doesn't seem particularly weirded out by that detail either. Whah?
In the manga,
there's no ambiguity or weirdness: we're told by the characters that he did meet with his father shortly after the fall of the wall, and that's when he got the key (only problem being that he can't quite remember what happened/was said and gets horrible headaches when he tries to).
I don't know why they changed that, but it doesn't seem like an improvement at all.

Not sure why they put Nick in Eren's town on the day of the fall either (beginning of the first episode), as it won't make much sense
for the characters to try and shock him out of his silence by showing him distressed crowds: anime-Nick has been there already!

All this quibbling about the (Shingeki spoiler, episode 2)
oddity of the 'dream'/Eren's key
would be resolved if everyone believed in the

And a list of links to his previous works, on Catsuka, if you thought this looked interesting.
This was pretty cool, I'll definitely keep an eye out for it.

I'm not sure how that would solve anything. The key still has to come from somewhere.

It's certainly a different beast. First arc or two is just sort of weird but not too great. It comes into its own with the Kyoto arc that maintains this wonderful sense of "going from bad to worse" throughout along with a stellar soundtrack.

First, the bad: What's the point of using rotoscoping if you are not gonna try to imitate life-like movement? At times it reminds me of that Magi dance where the in-betweens didn't arrive on time. Sure, the production method is not gonna be the same as that of a regular anime, but it's not utilising the entire range of motion animation provides. It's always ugly, and at some points it looks like an amateur Flash animation, especially with how they randomly decide to not animate the entire frame, resulting in weird scenarios like a girl in the background being frozen solid.

And I guess that's about it. I can't find fault in anything else. Most people here complained about the recycling of background/animations in the second half of the episode, but I thought this helped perfectly accentuate just
how mind-numbingly boring Takao's daily life is. His quest for validation through French literature in comparison to the inanity of his friends' chitchat feels a lot more believable thanks to that. Adding to that disparity is how he approaches his crush for Saeki. He tries to convince himself that he's not a lecherous horny boy like his classmates, when in reality he's just as enamoured of her secondary sexual attributes as the rest, as established by the lingering shots of his POV on her body during P.E. class
. This is some very good cinema all-around, although I'd probably be more eager to praise it were this live action instead of a cartoon.

Music is superb, too. The constant buzzing in the soundtrack reminded me of a horror movie. It permeates the entire work with an uneasy aura that is both creepy and alluring. Also, that segue into the ending theme? Orgasm for the ears.

What I'm trying to say is put me on #TeamShitEater. This is good television.

People enjoyed Dragonaut.

I'll admit I was entertained enough. It was unmemorable, but I don't have any unpleasant vibes from me watching unlike my stupid attempt to try Queens Blade which lasted maybe 2 scenes. I still feel scarred from that.

Mawaru Penguindrum 1 (rewatch)

I stopped at the half-way point when this was first airing (like a year and a half ago? Jesus) so this will only be a half rewatch.

Excellent first episode like I vaguely remember it being. I'm liking these three main characters especially adorable as fuck Himari and the plot is both tragic and absurdly entertaining. I look forward to going back to these episodes and also getting a new experience out of it.

I refuse to believe. It's too dumb.

w-what about parallel universes then

it is said it was inspired by Muv-Luv after all.

But yeah, jokes aside, i'm not a fan of that theory either. The author usually drops a lot of foreshadowings/hints, and i don't think the setting implied
TT hijinks
at all, opening chapter aside.
