The Evil Within (PS3/360/PC/NextGen, idtech5, Tango/Bethesda, 2014): [Up: New Info]

Well, it looks like they'll try to make it a horror game, so that's definitely cool.

Don't really like the design of the guy with the safe on his head. I mean, he's ominous and creepy, but the concept is a bit too much like Pyramid Head.

I don't have a source, unfortunately, but save it, it comes handy in many occasions:

Thanks dude.

Hope this has some kind of (optional) local co-op, prefer to play these kinds of titles with friends. Wish RE4 had this option.

That live action trailer was superb. I just finished Vanquish, and that was a decent game. I have always been a bigger fan of Mikami's horror games. So, I will be there on day one to play this beauty. I can never have enough horror.

Live-action like in RE1, perspective like in RE4, focus on horror, Mikami producing/directing, next-gen. Looks like it is the Resident Evil which Mikami actually wanted to create. Sold.

I like The Evil Within because it makes more sense for the Western markets.

At least considering the link with Resident Evil.

It's almost like THE LAST STORY

To me this looks a lot like Shadows of the Damned.
Came in here to post this.

Nevertheless, I am really looking forward to The Evil Within. Hopefully this is a return to pure survival horror, without all of the blockbuster action and emphasis on co-op. Cant wait to see this game in motion because the screenshots look very promising.

EDIT: Totally forgot that Mikami was the lead designer of Shadows of the Damned. That explains why this looks sort of similar.

I guess its another case of Resident Evil/Biohazard, while both names were great, the evil within beats Psychobreak as a game name.

Psychobreak sounds like a super move for M. Bison haha

Here's some food for thought:

- Resident Evil doesn't really have any meaning related to the actual game. The Japanese title is Biohazard, which directly references the source of the horror in the game's story.

- The Evil Within is similar in the sense that it is a rather generic horror title which could mean anything. The Japanese title is Psycho Break, which seems much relevant to the actual story judging from the brainhouse in the logo.

The background designer (same guy who worked on REmake) and the creature designer are masters of their craft.

Yeah, that's some creepy stuff they have going on, I absolutely love it!

I don't think the creatures are quite as good as Masahiro Ito's work on the first three Silent Hill games, but they're still miles ahead of whatever we've been seeing since then, I think.

Man, deciding between getting this game as soon as it hits the shelves or waiting until I get a next-gen console to play the best version possible (no PC for me, guys) will be tough...

Just don't give the player crates worth of ammo. Or weapons for that matter.

Wanna be struggling with half a clip of handgun bullets as monsters tickle my sides from all angles.

So is this game going to be some kind of Inception/The Cell type of game?

I feel like I said this already
although in a less detailed manner and I want to continue this trend of you being beaten to things

The Japanese title does have me a little bit more intrigued as to what this is about though. If it's concerned with actual manipulation of the brain (Neurology is my second interest in my studies) then I cannot wait *.*

Dusk Golem did a bit of an investigation into the game and I believe he found that there was a lot of stuff to do with guns in the games based on who the team was working with.

Well, definitely waiting for this moment since the release of Resident Evil 4, Silent Hill 3 and Silent Hill 4. Now I can finally play a true survival horror game which I am sure will be awesome and true to its genre by 120%.
