I see what you did there, Nintendo!

Actually, they didn't do anything. Animal Crossing's Japanese subtitle is Tobidase, which sort of means "Jumping Out!" Therefore in Japan, it's

Doubutsu no Mori: Tobidase (Animal Crossing: Jumping Out!)
Tomodachi Collection: Shin Seikatsu (Friend Collection: New Life)

In the U.S., it's

Animal Crossing: New Leaf
nothing

Prediction League May, 2013

Predict how much these titles will sell in the month (from Apr 29 to May 26):

[3DS] Tomodachi Collection: Shin Seikatsu (28 days) -
[PSP] Summon Night 5 (11 days) -
[3DS] Shin Megami Tensei IV (4 days) -
[PS3] Kamen Rider: Battride War (4 days) -
[PS3+WIU+360] Resident Evil Revelations (4 days) -

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Deadline: May, 1st 09:00 am (EST) (when Famitsu or Media Create first make their weekly sales public)

Attention:
  • Remember for some games it's not only the 1st week.
  • Multiplatform games are the combined available sales of each platform.
Rules:
  • The official monthly hardware sales will be the sum of weekly numbers for all versions of the system available from Famitsu.
  • The official monthly software sales will be the latest total or the sum of the weekly numbers if the title is release before the period available from the Famitsu Top 30.
  • The official monthly sales for multi-platform releases will be the combined available sales of each platform shown in the title entry.
  • The official monthly sales for games with multiple versions will be the combined available sales of each version shown in the title entry.
  • Any game missing in the Famitsu top 30 will be taken out of the predictions.
  • Any item missing in your prediction will be considered as if you had predicted zero for its sales.

Hang on. New Life? When New Leaf is also around? Are those names as similar in Japanese as they are in English?

Yeah, was trying to make it format the same as the U.S. name, but Tobidase is technically first.

Edit:

[3DS] Tomodachi Collection: Shin Seikatsu (28 days) - 400K
[PSP] Summon Night 5 (11 days) - 50k

Query from a different thread on Konami and the Wii U and Vita: has PES14 been confirmed for these systems in some manner to the press?

It was stated as such, but I can't find anything to suggest it on English sites, so I don't know if it was to Japanese press?

I dunno, it's been a while since the last mainline SMT

do they really care that much anymore? I think the fanbase has moved to Persona :p

I think it will do OK but not reach Persona levels. I doubt it will reach Persona 4 Golden's 250k mark.

*shrugs* JRPGs have been doing well on the 3DS so far. And there's a crapton of promotion for it. I don't think it's going to get there, but it has a shot.

Edit: You're predicting for opening week to below EOIV's too! :D

Yeah some of these predictions are really low. 40k? That's less than half of Strange Journey's first week.

Strange Journey sold more than your prediction and that wasn't a numbered entry.

I wasn't aware of that, but SJ was on DS, and also years ago

Eh, maybe I'll grow more optimistic in the coming days and change my pred :p

I don't think it matters that it was on the DS. EOIV is the best selling game in the EO series. Games like these don't benefit greatly from a big userbase. SMTIV is never doing SMTIII numbers, but I do find some of these predictions a little hard to swallow. I mean even Soul Hackers sold 70k first week.

An updated port of an updated port of a SMT Saturn spinoff (Soul Hackers) sold 74k in the first week on 3DS.
Exactly.

So, does this mean that Tomodachi has been downloaded around 50k times in its first week?

If that's the case, every title in the 3DS Only All-Time Chart sold at least 50k digital copies.

Atlus crying at these SMTIV predictions.

Not aware of the ties between the numbered titles and non-numbered titles. There have been huge disparities between numbered/non-numbered in other series, though.

First weeks
GBA SMT (remake) - 6K
PS1 SMT (remake) - 42K

PS1 SMTII (remake) - 19K
GBA SMTII (remake) - (#48 in MC on debut week, no numbers)

PS2 SMTIII: Nocturne - 151K
PS2 SMTIII: Nocturne Maniax - 41K

On 3DS, we have the Devil Survivor Overclocked spinoff launching at 19K first week.

Hmmm. Didn't realize that Nocturne was actually III. May be more like Nocturne, then, than the remakes.

If that's the case, every title in the 3DS Only All-Time Chart sold at least 50k digital copies.

Yes. Add that in there! :lol

Still about Tomodachi's digital numbers: 54-57k digital copies sold (10% of total shipment) means that, in its debut week, around 11-12% of total copies sold to customers has been downloaded. We know Animal Crossing suffered sever shortages for a long time and this forced many customers to download it trhough cards or directly from eShop, and that caused its high digital numbers, but in this case we have more than 10% of total copies sold through downlods without shortages being a decisive factor in this. It's VERY interesting.

All charts launch-aligned. All data from Media Create weekly releases.
Weekly numbers presented in logarithmic base 1,000 for clarity. In that case, zero units are represented by one unit.

3mJmgSR.png

KOk4hSC.png

Note, since this draws only from the top 10 it does not represent smaller titles.
e.g., software sales of zero are assumed if the console has no games in the top 10.

...

Feel free to criticize or point out mistakes.

Was trying to figure out why you were limiting yourself to the top 10 weekly, and then it hit me that you're having to use old MC numbers. Try using Famitsu instead. It'll be much more representative to use a Top 30. Here are the numbers for each for you to throw into your charts.

Wii weekly Top 30 software
PS3 weekly Top 30 software
3DS weekly Top 30 software
PSV weekly Top 30 software
Wii U weekly Top 30 software

Just notice which weeks are missing and use 0 for those weeks. Also if you see a really big week followed by 0, then split the really big week in two, since it was probably a combined Famitsu week back then.

Yeah that's just a list of budget games that came out last Thursday.

But if you wanna know, SS is out of the Top 100, currently at #119. Let's see if it can show some legs during Golden Week.

Now: http://www.media-5.co.jp/products_game/psvita.html

Were they released or not?

They're not on Sony's website. Can anyone with a Vita check if they are in the Japanese PS Store? =P
