That is awesome. I would like to knock down a bunch of walls in my place one day and make it even more open concept. Walls suck.

nope not until next week. got a lot to do too once it comes in. all the shelving you see here will be gone outside of the floating dvd shelf which I'm moving to another wall

going to wall mount the 65", get a larger stand to put beneath it, put the consoles under the TV so I don't have a separate stack, then put an indoor plant in the place of the floating cabinet to help hide wiring.

ultra low res n64 speedrun streams on a large tv 8 feet away. HYPE

Damn that's nice as is. How does that DVD rack mount? Just into studs? I'd love two of those but I live in an apartment so not sure how they'd like me putting holes in walls.

Thanks. I just use drywall butterfly anchors rated for 143lbs.

When I move it I'll put one mount into a stud though. It's an Ikea Bertby which they don't make anymore for some strange reason. Too many people probably mounted them improperly and they fell off the wall.

Pittsburgh already dropping the D, but you already knew that was going to happen.

Yeah all jokes/shots fired aside, I position like this should exist.

That's very cool.

Boston crushing Toronto's hopes and dreams is fun also.

Anyway, ill be up for Halo tonight if anyone else wants to get on. 4 or reach.

I enjoyed the MW series campaigns and the BlOps campaign. Not too much of a fan of the gameplay but my younger brother is and he'll buy it. I'll play the campaign on normal and never touch it again.

I liked CoD 4 and MW2. MW3 was pretty bad. I think I posted a picture one here of myself lighting the disc on fire actually.

First, whoever says this place has been going downhill are drama queens. Straight up. Let's stop making mountains out of molehills because there's always great discussion around here.

Shiiiiii

Isn't Street Fighter a comparison in favor of button combos, or "intrinsic glitches," because top tier players have a better understanding of frame data, which leads to possible combo knowledge and "safe moves" over less knowledgeable and less skilled players?

To actually put it in a Halo setting, if I know that an enemy has a BR out, and the start up frames for a melee with the BR requires, say, 10 frames before the active hurtbox is out and I'm susceptible to damage, and I know that a weapon switch requires 3 frames, and I have a pistol secondary with an active hurtbox that occurs after 5 frames for a melee, because I'm a smarter player with more relevant game knowledge, I know that I can switch weapons and melee him for the kill 2 frames prior to him killing me or possibly trading.

Game mechanics are closer than you think.

It's the reason why Justin Wong is just plain godlike at fighting games in general, and not just one fighting game.

That entire discussion was fantastic. You (loved that SF shit you typed), BigShow (your posts make me relive wonderful memories <3) and ExWife (mappable buttons) pose some great arguments and comparisons to not only past Halo games, but other games as well.

Of course it takes skill. Basically any activity takes some skill. Furthermore, there were people doing advanced things with it. The issue isn't skill, so much as visibility. People who don't know about it are at a significant and "inexplicable" disadvantage.

No, those objects and abilities are all available to everyone. And that lack of information is symmetrical. You don't know how many bullets an opponent has either. You don't know if Ryu is going to throw a fireball or a hurricane kick, you react based on which one he does.

BXR and stuff like backpack reloading was "an easter egg" of sorts. If everyone knew how to do it, it would have been less of an issue. It's also "invisible" - unlike a power up.

There's a perfectly good argument however that "eventually" everyone will figure this stuff out, but it's dangerous to assume everyone is an expert, or even well-informed. The vast majority of game players don't read forums or participate in community discussions. They just play.

My favorite button combo that sped up the game on multiple levels. I have a suggestion though: Since this type of knowledge gives one player an advantage over another, wouldn't the best solution to be to make them knowledgeable? Why not just inform them by creating an Advanced Techniques section to future Halo games where you would list out such things? Plenty of other games have these sections that detail advanced tactics and helpful tips.

Tried out GifCam on a Halo video I had.

Might be one of my favorite maps to Wheelman on B] - First thing I did with the Hog was drive and pick up the Bubble Shield so if there was ever any danger or a Laser trying to pick me off, I'd hop out and drop that sucker downnn. Sooo damn fun.

I keep on missing shit on here.

Those feels. I know them.

I would say it is better practice to create as transparent an experience, rather than saying "well they should find that info if they wanna compete". I know at some point it's pretty hard to avoid, but that's not a reason to not try (I'm thinking in particular of SC2.)

Unintended stuff like backpack reloading should get tossed if it's not something they want in the experience.*

*Though man it makes Flood combat in campaign so much easier.

Yeah, Halo 4's DMR is way better!

Oh.

Exactly, DMR without bloom like in Halo 4 is an overpowered rifle.

It works in Reach MLG cause its the only weapon besides the power weapons. It doesnt really work in Super Slayer because bloomless DMR becomes overpowered compared to all the rest of the sandbox.

However IMO default bloom is too much, 85% bloom would be a better "default" Reach. N nerfing the nades is definitely needed, far too many death nades percentage wise. Nerfing the radius a bit and the damage a slight amount will make that workout better.

I think this is a very fair compromise. However why am I discussing Reach updates, we cant even get Halo 4 updated correctly.
