Game Informer June Cover: Infamous Second Son/PlayStation 4 Issue (30 Pages)

I saw references to disappointment over it being an announced game already.. but Infamous? Yikes. I enjoy the series, but this is not a game that screams "worthy of 30 pages of coverage!" to me. It will be a natural extension of a clearly defined genre and game series.

Well Infamous only got 10 pages. :p

good thing the cover mentions other games, controller details, and indie coverage as well. Are people even looking at the cover, or just the headline?

for those that have bought the issue and/or subscribe to game informer regardless, are the magazines interactive at all on ipad, or is it like you're just swiping scanned pages of the magazine?

Awesome! Can't wait to see it.

And goddam gaf, stop hyping shit up for yourself. Some GI guy randomly tweeted, "heh, this is the most pages for a cover story" and everyone shouts, "HALF LIFE 3!? KINGDOM HEARTS 3? LAST GUARDIAN!?". Jesus...

Also that water/city is CG. I've not been wrong with my predictions yet!

Is there any way to buy just a single digital issue of GI? This site is annoying. All I see is full subscription links.

I always get GI issues like two weeks late in the mail. It's so annoying. By that point I have already read all the details online for the stuff I'm interested in, so it's useless.

A couple of other things I glanced:

- According to the developer, Blacklight Retribution on PS4 should offer a 'healthy' visual jump over the PC version, because they don't have to deal with minimum specs and different configs

- Mark Cerny reckons that PS4 saved about a year of development time on Knack, thanks to it being a lot easier to go from concept to implementation on the machine (but of course he would say this as platform evangelist ;))

- Some info on touchpad usage - Infamous currently uses it to build up 'smoke power' in the player and for example, for flicking up to open up a compartment on a machine before tapping the trigger button to fire and destroy it. Drive Club is using it currently just for menu navigation, but considering applying it to cameras though they haven't decided for sure yet

As for the new thread suggestions...I'm not really sure what kind of thread one would make. These are just small little nuggets here and there :)

interesting! who is working on it?

No more info was given on it. It was mentioned in response to a question about new business models and what Sony is or isn't open to. He said Sony was working on a unannounced F2P game, and were open to everything. But that currently they had no subscription-based games in development.

What the fuck why is everyone complaining about inFamous on the first few pages :(

I wasn't expecting anything so this makes me happy. Are there any details yet? Don't see anything in the OP

The advantage of a closed box.

No. They are lying. If consoles didn't exist, PC games would look like movies and stuff.

Yoshida bits.

"We are developing a free-to-play type of game*, but we haven't announced it yet," said Yoshida. "We don't have any subscription-based games in development, but we are not crossing out any type of game."

*Depending on when this interview was conducted, that free-to-play game may or may not be Doki-Doki Universe, one of the indie games announced for PS3/PS4/PSV today.

"We have the same level of strong commitment [as we did with PS3] to continue to produce first-party titles."

"We believe in a good balance [between new IPS and existing franchises], continuing with some of the franchises while at the same time trying out new IPs and new ideas... Both are of great importance."

"Did we consider it [always-online]? No, we didn't consider it. The main reason being that many countries don't have robust internet connections. It m akes sense for people to have internet connections to play online games, but for offline games there are many countries that we saw do not really have robust internet... We didn't even consider that [always-online]."

Article echoes points about the controller feeling good and being very responsive. Also echoing the dead zone comments I've shared here.

Is there a thread for Second Son with bullet points, or..? Also, do they say if it's a launch game?

EDIT: Just saw Miles' post.
