Halo 2 Anniversary by Certain Affinity (Update: Frankie Denies #83)

I didn't like Halo 2's campaign very much. In fact it's my least favorite halo 1. It feels aged, while H1's feels fresh even now. But it is a shame for all those people who loved the multiplayer. :/

I started playing Halo Anniversary in 3D yesterday and boy is it gorgeous. Resolution is bad but the overall effect and the graphics are awesome, it's never been that much fun to kill Grunts up close and have colorful oozes and sparks all around you. It's also so much better than Halo 4. I sincerely hope they remake Halo 2 with the same quality soon.

And why hasn't Stinkles been in here to deny it yet? Oh wait, here he is, denying it.

I have no idea what the project he is tweeting about is, but CA works on more than just Halo stuff for companies other than just 343, but it is absolutely NOT H2A and nobody is currently working on any such thing.

It'd be tragic if Halo CE got an anniversary update and Halo 2 didn't. It easily deserves it.

Halo 4 is at 1750 for gamerscore right? Halo 2 Annie map pack for an extra 250..

Also, how much could they charge for a boxset containing CEA, 2, ODST, 3 and 4?

Would be highly anticlimactic.
But at least would be something. Halo 2 still stands as having the best maps out of all the games. It's pretty funny when majority of Best Maps in Halo lists are nothing but Halo 2. Even the MP DLC for Halo 2 was highly regarded.

Halo 2 had the best maps and probably all around mp experience in halo. If halo2a released and the halo 5 released a year or so later halo 2 would probably out populate halo 5 unless they seriously save the mp train wreck that was halo 4.

You really belive modern FPS players would like Halo 2?
Good luck with that...

EDIT yes, there are still a lot of fans of Halo 2. But there are much, much more FPS players these days. Compared to those numbers, Halo 2 fan-base probably isn't very large. And whether the others like Halo 2 multiplayer... i'm very doubtful.

Now, i'll admit that there will be a point when people don't want COD-like games anymore... but the trend sure as hell won't revert to mid-00s, rahter, it will be something different.

I don't think this game will be released, which is sad, however let me explain something if this is ever thought to be considered in the pipeline.

Don't change a goddamn thing, it's like shitting on it.

You guys realize 343 has until November 2014 to release H2 Anniversary, right? They wouldn't announce it this early.

So will I! And FAP TO IT DAILY. Just liked I fapped to the E3 2003 demo vid daily for 18 months... and was ultimately left unfulfilled.

haha yeah I have that 8min video memorized. Betcha can't stick it.

...along with the Staten/Hoberman E3 2004 multiplayer demo.

They would have to begin development on it fairly soon though. So in six months to a year we'll see if Frankie's comments change.

One can hope, dammit. And the multiplayer maps in the Halo 4 engine would be amazing. Just imagine Relic or Terminal, Turf, Burial Mounds, etc...

If it is just a graphical overhaul like Halo CE Anniversary, 1.5 years is probably enough time, no?
Would a year be enough?

It depends on how much they overhaul/add to the game.

  • If they don't overhaul any of the graphics and just do a direct port, a year is probably more than enough.
  • If they only overhaul the campaign graphics, I imagine a year would be pretty tight. (having modern graphics in the campaign and old graphics in multiplayer would probably be confusing to people, so I don't see this as a likely possibility)
  • If they overhaul the campaign and every multiplayer map (including DLC), I think 1.5 years would be pretty tough.
  • If they add in theater, online co-op, terminals, the E3 2003 demo, or any other features (like some people are hoping) on top of a graphical overhaul, I can't imagine 1.5 years being nearly enough.
Of course this depends entirely on how many resources they're willing to put into a Halo 2 remake, but I'm guessing it will be a similar amount to what was put into Halo Anniversary. Then again, what do I know?
