Battlefield 4: "Big announcements are coming soon"

Ignoring PS4 now could cripple the sales of sequels on PS4. It's more than just skipping one game. Look just at what happened to CoD on Wii. CoD3 actually sold pretty well on Wii then they skipped MW and sales went to shit with BO.

Did skipping Bioshock, Mass Effect and others negatively effect sales of the sequels?

Considering those games generally sell better on xbox?

I don't remember actual figures.

It's always amusing how brand hatred and loyalty makes people so dramatic. I find it hard to believe this will be Durango exclusive, but whatever happened to gamers following the games and not some company?

I don't think there's enough context in his post, to ascertain all that. Perhaps he's just planning on getting the one console and will be disappointed if one of his favorites doesn't come to it.

Also, i'd suspect that post was more for comedic effect, rather than "dramatic".

Cool, will get on PC.

But man, if these exclusives are real these board is gonna be real hectic tomorrow to say the least.

True, but we should also take into account that MS/EA "partnership" right?
That's the only reason I think it's a possibility at all but I'm leaning towards it being like E3 2011 where they announced DLC deal at Sony's conference then revealed MP at theirs, just with the Xbox event instead of E3.

Thanks for posting this, hopefully some will calm down now. =P

They follow games but not when those games are with a company that has a paywall for online play.

Yeah that's a good point I didn't think about. IMO they really should do something about that next Gen, especially with F2P games becoming more common.

While true, you always miss out on games by being a single console owner. I just think some may be worried over nothing. You could be right on the comedic effect, though I don't see many people laughing =P

Look for me on the local news, I'll be the guy arrested for trying to burn down a Nintendo exec's house.
I guess EA is using the crowdfunding concept of "why pay for it yourself" but in this regard for a venue and organisation of getting the worlds press held captive. Its not like Nintendo were going to be inviting them back!

It'll be "exclusive" like the original Assassins Creed was a PS3 exclusive. Nothing to worry about.

Its probably just some sort of official 64 player multiplayer announcement for consoles, a first, or exclusive dlc. I would be surprised though if they wrapped up exclusive dlc for both cod and bf and a exclusive on titan. I just can't see all three happening.

You don't need to be empathetic towards me.
Whenever they show it, I hope it's the MP and not more of the campaign.

Clearly I was speaking in hyperbole.

If you're "following the games", why would anyone go Xbox then? I followed the games and it lead me to the PlayStation brand years & years ago.

I'm loyal to Sony because of the first party content and exceptional hardware. If The Xbox actually develops interesting first party content this generation maybe Ill purchase that too, but I expect they will continue the trend of buying DLC, Halo, Forza, Gears, rinse and repeat.

I like that people are seriously entertaining the idea that all of EA's upcoming titles are next XBOX exclusive, despite how ridiculous the idea is.

I would love to see this happen though. And not only with EA.
The shitstorm this would cause on gaf would be glorious. :D

it's not as simple as owning multiple consoles these days. it was one thing to have a PS1 and N64, as well as PS2 and Xbox, but now that entire ecosystems, online services, profiles, 'e-progress' (trophies, rep, etc.), and the like are attached to each brand... it's not a simple thing to switch from one to the other for a lot of people, and with this gen extending those services onto successor platforms a lot of people won't want to juggle multiple or lose all of their 'stuff' on one system and 'start over' on another. (it's more than just digital purchases)

For some reason, I doubt this has anything to do with the Xbox announcement.

Would be interesting to see both Ghosts and BF4 in the same presentation, though. I don't think it's going to happen.

To be honest, BF4 being exclusive to the Nextbox is about the only deal I can see being possible.

Anything else (COD, GTA5, etc.) would be DLC.

Is this people's first E3? I don't understand the incessant narrative of billion-dollar franchises being a single-platform exclusive on the basis of "partnership" agreements (of which there has been many of during the last decade in various forms, often dealing with marketing and DLC timing) and devs show casing games at said conferences?

If there is actual evidence that is distinct to anything we've heard before, then please share it.

I'm guessing it will be some sort of DLC exclusive.

I really don't really understand the point of "next gen" exclusives for cross generation games. Most people will buy these games on the current generation. I'm actually a bit worried about all the cross generation titles we are seeing being planned for release. Less incentive for people to move up to new consoles.

Publishers have next gen cold feet.

That's funny I follow games, which is why I buy multiple systems. There's always something on every console that interests me and it's been that way since the Saturn/PSone/N64 days.

I much rather be loyal to games than a company but to each their own.

I guess. Maybe it's because I don't care about e-progress as long as I don't lose my digital items, which is likely for both MS and Sony unfortunately =( I just don't see it as any different than the old days of juggling multiple systems. I could be alone there though. *shrugs*

This! EA is an Independent publisher, BF will never be exklusive.

Not outright exclusive, no, but it could very well be a timed exclusivity deal. There have been a lot of EA/Microsoft partnership rumors floating around the past few months.

MS in titan mode, they're stomping all over the industry. Holy shit I'm excited.

Sony and MS bringing it, next gen is finally here!!!!!

you are right about that. i've amassed a very large collection of PSN games. i don't mind using my PS4 in another room to play those, but PS4 REAAAALLY needs to have as close to 100% parity with future PSN releases as possible.

i don't want to have to buy ANY PSN game on PS3 once PS4 releases. Vita has been pretty good with that regarding PSN stuff (with PS3) so it gives me hope PS4 will be the same way.

TEACH ME THE LANGUAGE! It'd be like learning Al Bhed all over again :p

the trick is to read it in your mind using the Borat voice.

Do you have any concept of how much that would cost? No. Do you have any idea how the board of EA would sell the idea to their investors? Locking out one of the major hardware platforms isn't going to happen. At this stage it makes zero sense placing all your eggs in one basket.

If any exclusivity exists it will be timed dlc. Nothing more. Remember all the rumours regarding Destiny being MS exclusive for next gen? Look how that turned out!

Obviously this would be assuming MS paid them not to make a PS4 version, i.e. next gen console exclusive.

Why the fuck are all these game being revealed along with the Xbox that were basically absent from the PS4 unveiling? It's like all those big multiplatform games that were advertised as Xbox games all over again. I've heard of people who bought COD on 360 this gen because they didn't know it was even available on other platforms.
