Let me show you through these halls, my friend, where treasures of indie gaming await...
Publishers will go where the best cost per mile is. And if blocking used games on the Xbone means more first hand sales then they will likely go there.
Sure that might not happen, but there is no point trying to save Sony in all of this without similarly trying to change MS mind too

Exactly why we should be tweeting MS and publishers too, not JUST Sony

Publishers will go wherever they can make money. If they make 100M on an MS console with the included UsedGamesales and 200M on a Sony console via a bigger userbase, they sure as hell wont skip Sony.

If people care so much about no used games DRM etc then they should be attacking everywhere on twitter got to do with gaming. Not just trying to save Sony. Similar tweets should be sent out to publishers, MS and anyone who has sway in the industry.
It won't be enough just to save Sony's ass in the matter. It's a start but I highly doubt they will change it completely and leave MS with their DRM in place. It causes a divide among devs and publishers

As has been pointed out to you numerous times it's not about "saving Sony" it's about the art of what is possible.

You can live in your fanboy cave and whine about how it's so unfair that gamers are trying to stop Sony from making our gaming lives more difficult, but we have insider info that Sony are listening to the backlash and thinking twice about their policies. No such info has been given for MS, in fact they went in the opposite direction and closed their YouTube comments for Xbox.

He's actually probably one of the best people to contact over this. He's in publisher relations, a VP IIRC, so he'd be at the coal face of any discussions with publishers around this stuff.

I think I might swap him in to the tweet on my letter page. (Sorry Adam :))

Yes, Adam is SCEA's third party relationship manager, he is a key player in all of this.

Even though i posted it on Twitter as part of the campaign, i must say that lending games has been part of a real positive and personal experience that actually has beneffited Sony. Throughout the years, i have lent and gifted Gran Turismo games to friends and family members, and today almost all of those friends and family members are avid GT fans that buy and preorder those games as soon as they are announced. Had i not been able to do so, probably not all of them would have been enjoying and buying those games.

So, let's see, when will we hear a word from Sony on this?

Surely they have to at least acknowledge the #PS4NoDRM at this point?

Can we get a list of the articles covering this edited into the first post?

Since now we have a Polygon article, a Kotaku and a Destructoid article on this. Seems like it wouldn't hurt to have a list to the coverage that this has gained.

I still don't know why people think I'm being fanboyish, I have no allegiance to either MS or Sony.
But anyway of course Sony would be listening, MS would too if such a campaign got under way. People are just naive enough to think Sony hadn't got anit used games DRM in the pipeline already cos they didn't say it publicly.

For gaming I hope neither console has the DRM in place because it's a terrible path to take, But I doubt Sony will leave theirs open if MS has theirs closed off.

Of course. and it remains to be seen if the DRM would work or not yet anyway for what I said to be taken fully into account

Sony is in a dilemma, if they cave Publishers will bail, if they go the DRM route they stand to lose "x" amount of gamers.

If they have entered into an agreement with publishers via a contract to support DRM with splitting fees, its a done deal and they might as well get out in front of this story and say we are the bearer of bad news.

If DRM is the new normal, well digital copies of games should be significantly less, since the publisher doesn't have to pay for delivery and brick and mortar. Whatever the cost that is associated with getting games to retailers that cost should be considered for the digital copy. So if the retail cost is $60.00 bucks the digital copy should be $40.00.

It's a fascinating Catch-22 scenario for Sony. Either way, Sony stands to lose something. If Sony turns its back on its third-party partners, there's nothing preventing them from jumping ship-- or perhaps engaging in more convenient timed-exclusive scenarios where XBO could have the advantage. Especially early on, when consumers are choosing which platform to buy, seeing Madden, FIFA, or Battlefield come out first for XBO can sway buying decisions.

On the other hand, if Sony adds DRM, the PS4 gets negative press, the Internet rails, and a potential advantage is lost. Sony has to hope that consumers that are angered see the other positives about the platform and are still willing to upgrade, understanding that DRM is where the console game industry is now.

Either way, I don't expect to hear anything from Sony until E3. The company's decision will be huge, and I don't at all envy Sony brass right now. It's a Kobayashi Maru scenario.

If contracts for the DRM have already been signed Sony should get the bad news out ASAP before E3.

No point in having amazing game announcements/console reveal if the only talking point is DRM/no used games.

Your reading comprehension is clearly very poor. This campaign is in response to an insider saying that Sony have paused for a rethink. There has never been any information from anyone that MS would rethink their used DRM policy.

Sony would be guaranteed every single third party title, DRM or not. Publishers can't afford not to be on PlayStation consoles. Sony can play hardball and tell any publisher not putting games on PS4 to do one and revoke their PS3 publishing licence. No publisher would want to go down that road as it inevitably leads to bankruptcy. They can do it to Nintendo and did it to Sega because neither of their platforms ever really meant much to third party publisher revenue by the time support was taken away. PS3 is an absolute software juggernaut, especially for third parties. Sony are in the position of power as the platform holder.

In fact, MS closed DOWN their youtube comments and doesnt show any willingness to talk about it.

i've been begging for over 5 years.
Oh, hey. I know I'm late to this thread but I did my tweeting through the Mr. Dorito Mt. Dew thread.

I don't know the twitters all to well is the hash tag #PS4noDRM making any splashes?

fake ed: If I'm doing this right I'm seeing about 10-15 tweets a minute by searching for and following the hash tag. Is that successful in the twittersphere or a drop in the bucket?
