Man. Miiverse is so awesome. Wonder if the other 2 console makers will have a miiverse equivalent cone E3.

Or I could just stick to the real thing.

At this point, I'm willing to concede that I just don't get it. The service obviously offers value to some people, I'm just not one of them. Maybe I'm too old, maybe I'm too cynical, maybe I just don't care about Nintendo enough.

GAF is better than Miiverse for discussion. But it's also more diffuse. Tons of people playing lots of games.

Example: I just started up playing Kirby's Dreamland 3, originally for Super Nintendo. It's nice to have an active community at the touch of a button talking about that game. If I started a thread about Kirby's Dreamland 3 on GAF, it'd be on page 10 by mid-day.

Instead, I get to share a few comments, screenshots, jokes, drawings, etc. about the game, and I get to read others' experiences as well. And drawings and screenshots are easier to integrate than on GAF.

Miiverse is different from the GAF experience. If I had to choose one, sure, GAF is better. But Miiverse has a unique game-focused community combined with art. That's where people see the value.

This was also updated:

(You now can) View any Miiverse post, even if you don't have a Nintendo Network ID or are not signed in. As long as you have the URL for a post, you can open it.

Though it seems this only works on single posts, not user profiles. So I can show all my posts to a friend without Nintendo ID, but I'd have to link them one by one as he cannot access my stream. What's the point?

Nicely put.

I think what SmokyDave wants is all the benefits of private communities. I expect they will show it at E3.

You're missing the point of Miiverse, Dave. That point being smuggling sexual imagery past the censors.

For example, this could be a spaceship but doesn't it look a little like something else?

You have a GAF account. You inherently get the idea of a video game focused community made for owners and enjoyers of the product. And I'm sure that you get the idea of the Wara Wara Plaza recommending you things and communities based on what you've played and where you've been.

You just don't like the community there. And that's more than cool.

Great addition to Miiverse, last time I've browsed it from PC I felt like half of the fun is missing because of reply-only option.
Also I think Miiverse is a great tool for Wii U developers and Nintendo. If they wanna know what people think and want, they don't have to look anymore on different boards on the net, just open the Miiverse community and check.

The restriction between making new posts has been reduced from five minutes to three. I think it's now an ideal time, prevents unnecessary spamming but doesn't hinder posting worthwhile updates in sort succession.

I love that Nintendo are continually tinkering with Miiverse to improve the service. It's already unrecognisable from its day one form.

I think the best improvement has been posting screenshots in replies. That's going to be useful for assisting players, creating thread-based leaderboards and so much more.

Don't really see the point in posting from the PC. The idea was to make comments while you're playing a Wii U game not just use it as a Nintendo based Twitter.

Probably why I prefer it when the games have Miiverse functionality because they often only encourage relevant posts e.g. dying in NSMBU.

My favourite update in the picture replies since it allows you to basically make an album post so you're not cluttering the front page with screenshots.

It's just an option. I will still prefer posting from Wii U, especially in game, but if I want to start a conversation or ask a question and I'm not near my Wii U it's good to know I can hop online on my phone.

It's not only the PC, you can access it from your tablet or smartphone. This morning I was stuck in the traffic jam and replying to GAF and miiverse posts from my iPhone.
I, people expect systems of engagement to be ubiquitous.

Are you really going to be out on the town and suddenly think "Oh my, I wonder how to get that one coin in Mario." See, I can understand replying to posts, which you could already do, since I sometimes help people via browser Miiverse, but I honestly don't see the need to start a new topic considering the purpose of it.

Yes. You're getting confused between your needs and the needs of others. I appreciate you don't feel the need to start a topic away from the Wii U but others will, and therefore it's a worthwhile addition.

You created 5 threads in 6 years, that might explain why you don't see the point ;-)

miiverse administration does seem a bit hit and miss sometimes

This makes sense though. If you start avoiding people in Black Ops 2 U, you'll soon literally have noone to play. On the other hand, Gloria might have a fine sausage from the meat market that she wants to show off.

This isn't allowed on XBL or PSN either. Name and shame is frowned upon. The same is true for Miiverse. Has nothing to do with playercount.

Also yeah sausage... the enemies in RE_R have a sausage like tongue... with teeth on it...

I thought the terms were that you had to make inane statements and for bonus points, you put 'lol' in the sentence at least twice.

That is in the quick start guide for using the internet in general. You got things mixed up.

Its nice to see Nintendo supporting the PC market, after all its probably too hard to put miiverse on your handheld.

? it's confirmed to be coming soon.

Or you haven't played Toki Tori 2.

Sometimes you do have a general question about the game, who knows?

Imagine you're standing at your local game store, got this random game XYZ in your hand, wonder about a certain thing. Hop onto Miiverse and ask away, then wait a couple of minutes and you might have the exact answer you're looking for.

Obviously you could do it on twitter but if it's not the most-played-biggest-game-ever, your followers might have no idea what you're even asking.

Another thing: it also might not be true. Maybe the other person is being the asshole and handing out scarlet letters to random people for no reason.

sorry, my joke/sarcasm meter is broken.

I don't know about that. They shame people pretty often on the XBL support board.

The support boards are the right place for that, even though mods don't like to see it all that much, since they have built in report features. Btw, your example isn't
a case of name and shame, but a poor attempt at getting his own account unbanned.

Miiverse really isn't the place for it though.

I wonder how private communities will be handled.
