Spike TV named the official and exclusive broadcast partner of E3 2013

I prefer watching the conferences on my tv. The Sony stream worked fine for me 98% of the time, but I'd hate for it to freeze or crap out during something important. It happened to me during that puppet demo in February, but once I reloaded it was all good.

i didn't even catch that the sony conference won't be on tv...i'll probably hook my laptop up to my tv again like i did with giantbomb's microsoft reveal thing.

actually the write-up makes it sound like the Sony conference will air on tv but the spike.com website doesn't list it as so.

Choosing between Adam Sessler or Geoff Keighley is like picking between a poke with a sharp stick in either your left eye or your right eye.

Still, I'd like to imagine Spike could do a marginally better job. Only reason I watch E3 on television is my internet has this karmic knowledge of cutting out on me at some point midstream of any given conference.

Well this really sucks.

I have one of those cool data caps on my home ISP that everyone keeps talking about, so that means limited streaming for me. I was hoping Spike wouldn't be totally garbage and would do G4-style coverage which included demonstrations and interviews on the show floor as well as all of the pressers, but I guess fuck me for wanting that.

Considered to be the ultimate event in the video game industry, the 2013 Electronic Entertainment Expo runs June 11-13, 2013 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. "E3 All Access Live" will kick-off its multi-platform coverage on Spike TV, in HD, from Los Angeles one day before the event is open to the public on Monday, June 10 (Noon-5:30pm ET/ 9:00am-2:30pm PT) and continue at 5:30-11:00pm ET / 2:30-8:00pm PT. Spike.com will stream five more live hours on Tuesday, June 11 (Noon-5:00pm ET/ 9:00am-2:00pm PT). The live special will also be supported through additional digital pre and post shows as well as through online simulcasts.

That implies that the Sony conference will be aired on tv, right? It says coverage will continue on tv at 5:30. Then in the next sentence it says spike.com will stream five more live hours on tuesday.

Yep, I'm sure the major conferences (at least MS and Sony) will be on TV, they'd be silly not to televise those.

I used to really enjoy watching G4's coverage (fan of Morgan Webb and Sessler). Would always DVR that shit since I couldn't catch it live.

Same. Sucks we won't see coverage by them together.

At least we still have Sessler.

Then why the break of coverage from Noon-5:30pm only to continue at 5:30-11:00pm? They could have just said Noon-11:00pm if they meant all day coverage on SpikeTV.

Their current schedule also has Xbox/EA stuff listed already and then their regular crap programming starting at 5:30 PM which is why I think the second block of programming is supposed to be on Spike.com. They also have never aired the Sony conference on SpikeTV before and last year they streamed the Ubi/Sony conference which started around 6PM.

Or they'll air the noon-5:30 block again from 5:30-11. Can't see why they wouldn't just say noon-11PM if it was all live coverage.

I'm a sad panda because I'm going to miss the awesomeness that is Ubisoft's Yves Guillemot and his buddy live, when they do their E3 presentations. They crack up with how much fun they are having up there, coupled with their accents.

Why can't Sony get their shit on TV? Did MS moneyhat Spike TV?

I believe they shared the reasoning last year, and it's because Sony holds their press conference at key primetime hours, and probably get better ratings from whatever rerun they are showing.

Well fuck, now I have to stream Ubi-Soft and Sony's press conference with my shitty Internet connection. I can't believe Sony's press conference won't be on TV.

I must have missed that, I just always assumed G4 had the exclusive rights to Sony's conference. Thanks for posting it.

I thought it was called Esquire. Just realized they pushed the transition to summer
I'm still skeptical it will ever happen. I figure they'll just kill the channel entirely, and if they do actually go through with the Esquire transition it will be a half-hearted, half-assed, and a huge failure.

I remember watching E3 pressers from streams on Gamespot and/or 1up.com every year before G4 and Spike started carrying them. Tech Tv's coverage was the best because they actually gave updates from the show floor with actual news. Those were the days. Looks like its back the interwebs I go.

I was watching Starship Troopers on G4 the other day and I saw a few ads for the transition. I think it's definitely coming.

This probably explains why Ubisoft's conference will not be show on tv also. You know for being the exclusive broadcast partner of E3 they sure are lacking a few important broacasts but, I understand it is about the timing of the press conferences. At least they will be streaming the conferences like every other major gaming site will be.

Will watch the Live Stream on GameTrailers.com like I did in the last 3-4 years. Their stream has always been fantastic. HD, no lags, no stuttering and stable throughout the whole show. Heads up for GT on that one.
