TRUTHFACT: MS having eSRAM yield problems on Xbox One

Status
Not open for further replies.
Two of our most trusted neoGAF insiders have said that Microsoft is reacting hard to what has went down, and so they're going to try to dismantle PS4's image as a "for gamers" console by paying publishers and devs to not show their multiplatform titles during E3 on a PS4. In other words, even if the multiplatform version is coming out for the PS4, they won't be able to show them at E3, thus contributing to the perception that somehow Sony is getting significantly less support for PS4 than Microsoft is "for gamers."

Of course, I'm sure multiplatform games will slip through - they can't possibly pay everyone - but it's extremely telling how they're choosing to spend their money. Rather than do the thing everyone wants, which is end the anti-consumer nonsense, they'll spend their time trying to deceive everyone instead. That should say it all about Microsoft since this year started

Sounds like MS.

That's so damn shady. But it does sound like something MS would do though.

The only thing I liked about that game was that I could play the game as a female SPARTAN and the scenes with Jorge.

Back on topic! Despite all the negativity and bad press MS has received since the XB1 reveal you guys know that system is going to sell well. Your average Joe doesn't know crap about ESRAM issues or downgraded GPUS thus isn't concerned.

They'll turn on the TV and see Dorritos and Mt. Dew commercials for Halo 5 and COD: Ghost Dog and be bombarded with "XB1 to the exxxtreme bro!" You guys know that MS will come out swinging with their XB1 marketing campaign.

you are right, and this has been the case for many generations. PS1 was less powerful and sold more than the competition, PS2 was much less powerful (probably bigger power gap than PS4/Xbone will be) than the OG Xbox and sold a shit-ton more, Wii speaks for itself.

But as a gamer, it matters to me. I want the better experience and if the better hardware is worth the asking price I would prefer the PS4's more powerful and supposedly well built (more reliable?) hardware.

They can possibly think that would work, is a waste of money, most people that pay close attention to E3 already know that games for the most part come on both platforms.. and then the companies themselves will say the game is coming on all platforms, even if they only show it on the xbox one at the show.

I'm curious how much that will actually achieve. Journalists writing up first impressions are inevitably going to ask the devs which consoles the game is releasing for, and will be part of their write ups.

So how do xbox one's most pessimitic flop counts compare to the most optimistic ones for WiiU?

nintendo is incredibly cagey with the actual specs of the WiiU, but even the worst case scenario for the 360 is still somewhere around 3 TIMES the FLOP count of the WiiU. Microsoft may be getting torn apart since the XBONE reveal, but Nintendo really, REALLY dropped the ball with the WiiU.

Can someone make a thread on this, I know it's a rumour but it is better to make a thread. So if it turns out true, a lot of people and even press read GAF, so this can gain traction and MS can face a massive shit storm by the press.

wow.... I'm speechless.

True, but we already knew most 3rd parties execs are somewhere below roaches on the morality scale.

Well, that depends if the journalis "wants" to make the right questions.

Actually, famousmortimer has no claim to fame yet in terms of being trusted for insider info. He even admitted as much in his post detailing these shady dealings. I believe famous is telling the truth, just sayin'. Who is the second gaffer that corroborated this?

What the fuck? Is this true? Fuck Microsoft. I loved my Xbox but this sort of manipulative bullshit is unacceptable.

.

I think it would add some entertainment value to the proceedings for gaffers to try and figure out where MS spent some of that ONE BILLION DOLLARS! for games, and not many are going to make it to page, what are we at, 70?

Wait, I missed this little gem being mentioned. Desperate, weak and just downright pathetic. Keep on shitting that bed, Microsoft.

They kind of have to.

Otherwise every game will be shown on the PS4 to wow the audience, since all games will look better on PS4 if optimized.

They can't have developers show games on both consoles, especially if the X1 development is to far behind. It'll look worse than it should.

They really have no choice.

This doesn't sound like it could be remotely true. Mostly just because it strikes me as a waste of money. And what sort of precedent is there for something like this? I remember there was that dumb little thing with Assassin's Creed 1 where it "premiered" on the PS3 and Ubisoft tried to pretend that other versions didn't exist. Didn't exactly help the PS3's profile with the press and gamers though.

You're actually wrong here. famousmortimer said many many things prior to the Xbox One reveal, and many of them turned out to be true already. Of course, he is not the only source on this one.

Unlike others I don't like just quoting the neoGAF sources because I don't want any of them to get in trouble and stop sharing info, so unless they give me permission I'll let them share again on their own if they see this.

MS paid to delay GC ports in the xbox / GC era, as the graphical difference between the two platforms was closer than the specs would have suggested or than MS were comfortable with.

Unfuckingcredible, my gawd Microsoft, what happened to you? You were supposed to be the chosen one, the one that would bring balance to the console market.

PR!

Of course our system is farther along than you think...otherwise _____ wouldn't be showing there games on our system. If our system was weaker ______ wouldn't have been first seen on our console.

The power of the cloud.

If that's true, why would developers WANT to have their first hands-on with the inferior XBO version?

How do you pay people not to show their work at the largest gaming show on Earth? That sounds like a strange thing to justify on both ends. I guess weirder things have happened, but is there evidence of this?

That seems like a lot to swallow, given how little Microsoft seems to care about enthusiasts or the enthusiast press. At best this might mildly help the system's profile with a few game-centric blogs.......but why go to such an extreme degree when it's clear they are targeting sportsgamedads and not Kotaku readers?

I assume the same way you pay people for "timed" exclusives that pretend their work isn't coming to other platforms in 6 months.

I'd hypothesized a while back that they could go this route, but I'm still angered to hear it playing out. Really says everything about how the see the systems and developer support stacking up.

Too bad for them because these are the days of the internet & this will become well known & only lead to more backlash lol.

This is where Gaff comes into its own though. We have many developers and industry commentators on here and surely there must be a hell of a lot of them that just won't accept this level of deceit. If this actually does go down, I'd see it as duty to set the records straight and shine a light on the seedier side of gaming. MS should pay for their missteps, not the fans of another console.

We need a campaign on the level of the DRM twitter campaign. This is just as harmful to the consumers.

Shouldn't the bolded be a new rumor thread? I mean that is literally absurd if true. And I want to see Microsoft burn for this shit. God I can't believe how much of a PS4 fan I'm becoming by the day hahaha...

They also didn't think the backlash would be as severe. I never thought I'd see Killzone being used to promote the X1 on facebook.

Time makes fools of us all.
