Pretty much this... except with Major Nelson or whoever decided to pull that off's face there.

If this is true, this is proof that Microsoft has no idea what they're doing and where their priorities lie. This is a move of utter desperation. I can't see this working, however, because Destiny is said to be at Sony's press conference and I don't think Microsoft wants Sony to showcase their triple A devs even more than they had to.

What you call desperation, I call a legitimate strategy. They know they've lost a few people after May's reveal, so now they're trying to win them over, and since they have the money, I don't see why they shouldn't.

I'll copy and paste what I said in the other thread.

That is not news though, that's a rumor. And it's better to keep our insiders hidden in threads so we can keep getting more info. Outing them will only mean they will stop talking and so will other insiders.

If you want to create a new thread based on insider's info, ask their permission, like Nirolak asked kaycee...

VILE.

I can't speak enough of bad words about this console to anyone I see after this. On the other hand, I'm not sure why I'm surprised MS is capable of this. And to think I was thinking of buying Xbone before this mess happened.

Far from a legitimate strategy. This is an act of desperation.

How is this embarrassing and pathetic? They have the money, so they use it to make his console more appealing to the consumer.

Is this deal E3-bound only ?

If so wouldn't publishers just have to do the marketing PS4 version after E3 ?

UNCONFIRMED RUMOR: Microsoft will release live bees into the Sony event.

frigging LOL

At this point Microsoft is becoming more disgusting by the day with their business practices. They don't care about customers at all, they only care about profit and that's the bottom line. Not sayin Nintendo and Sony don't care about profit but nothing Microsoft does seems genuine at all and it only seems they are a dark cold heart of a corporation trying to ruin the gaming industry.

Besides, the title is beyond misleading.

"Undermining PS4 multiplat games".

And then it's about a marketing deal of sorts.

How on earth is that misleading? Would you prefer I used the word bribe? I think "undermining" is about the least inflammatory word one could use to describe what is allegedly happening.

Tell me a better way to put it that isn't catering to flame-worthy fanboys on one side or the other of the issue. I just think someone should find out the truth so that marketing isn't skewing perceptions of truth in an industry ripe with misdirection.

Delaying the inevitable.
Side-by-side comparisons will be made for cross-platform titles once both consoles are out and everyone will be watching.

This is the shitty stuff MS is gonna do to win next gen in spite of being underpowered, overpriced, and anti-consumer with their DRM.

Interesting strategy if true. Though it might give sony more time to talk about actual exclusives rather than this years entry in franchise xyz.

So this is kind of like the paid TV ads that only represent one console even though the game is multiplatform. The most notable example I can think of is the Assassins Creed ads that have a Sony ad at the end of it advertising the PS3 or Vita.

Because it's not about marketing and money, it's about the everlasting struggle between the good and the evil forces.

It's always funny how gamers tend to moralize everything in a manichaeistic way.

When I read "undermining PS4 multiplats" I think about sabotaging the devolpment of those games by bribing the devs.

Which is way worse then signing a marketing deal to show some games exclusively on Ms' conference.

Sony makes these kinds of deals, too.

That said I'm not surprised if Microsoft is doing it. Makes complete sense. It helps to build the brand on your platform. Just like Xbox 360 is known as the home of Call of Duty even if it's not the only platform for it.

I wonder, if the two sources are right, what exactly this would entail

Could these devs/pubs still show the game is multiplatform in press releases during E3? Can these devs/pubs at least confirm it during interviews? Are they not allowed to be apart of a sizzle reel? Is this just about games being demoed (meaning all demoed multiplat games would be the Xbox One versions)?

There's still a lot unanswered about the implication of this, even if both sources are right.

The phony pile on outrage is truly hilarious.

Can you demonstrate how any of the outrage this past week has been 'phony' instead of simply real concern regarding the terrible anti-consumer practices of Xbox One?

Can you guys not just accept the stark reality of how fucked up this reveal has been, or is self-deception just the name of the game?

'Cause otherwise, it just sounds like yet another way to try to convince oneself that things aren't as actually bad as they are.

Well, it's pathetic because they're allegedly using the money to create an appearance that Xbone is better for consumers, rather than using the funds for something real and substantive.

I was under the impression this isn't a new thing.

What's the big deal here? Developers only show off their games on one platform or the other anyways at smaller shows, and not many folks get confused about them suddenly becoming exclusives or anything.

Moneyhatting convention/conference visibility?

This sounds too ridiculous to be real...which means it's probably been in practice for a while.

That's such a waste of money. I as a consumer want to know about exclusives and as long as those third party games are coming to the platform, I don't care if they don't show it.

I don't believe it would affect Sony too much if at all, we will know the truth sooner or later, and their first party titles will blow away the Xbone in that case. Maybe some developers would sign on, but I doubt the majority will, cause if it would be revealed in the mainstream press, those publishers and M$ would take such a huge hit that they might not be able to recover from it. I wonder what the laws would say about bribery and anti competitive behavior if it is on such a big scale.

So does this mean we won't even know if certain games are multiplat or not? Or will we know, but just not see the PS4 version at E3?

Either way, this seems like a massive waste of money if true.

I don't blame them. We're spending $300+ on these consoles, there has to be some justification.

Not even a release moneyhat, but a showfloor moneyhat? I would laugh so hard.

Maybe MS tried to get a more serious moneyhat but got laughed at, so they just started meetings with publishers by putting a hat of money on the table and telling them to write on a piece of paper what they would do for said hat, and this was the best they got.
