Find like-minded gaming enthusiasts and make plans to organize and rally outside of GameStop locations with signs, placards and megaphones to alert the local media and prospective purchasers when the Xbox One is set to launch.

Unlike what some people would have you believe, we do indeed have a choice. And it's our duty to ensure we continue to have a choice by informing prospective Xbox One purchasers of what they're getting into.
And Sony will face a similar response if they follow suit with the PlayStation 4.

Next-gen arrives when WE say it does... and the Xbox One is not my next generation of gaming.

I couldn't care less about the xbone's DRM right now, actually if I were to buy the console it wouldn't effect me one bit.

It's the anti-consumer principle of it, we vote with our wallets and what doesn't seem to be a deal breaker in the present might (will?) naturally evolve into something even more restrictive several years from now.

And when the time comes, we'll be mature enough to make the choice of "console or PC"?

I love gaming. I grew up gaming. I will never stop gaming.
These new "restrictions" aren't going to impede my personal gaming in any way (unless the servers go down from high volume, but that always happens at launch)

I'm also ecstatic over the thought of day 1 downloads. I'll never have to stand in line at midnight listening to people bicker about consoles again. I get enough of that on here as it is.

What happens when the registration servers go down. What happens when internet coverage goes out? Adding needless complexity to a system just adds more places for things to break, and gaming companies honestly haven't had the most illustrious past with maintaining the kind of absolutely robust, rock-solid, services that you need for this to work.

it's a disturbing trend not only in gaming, but across the tech industry. Companies have everything to gain when they hold all the cards. Forgive the melodrama, but it's almost sociopathic of them to force you to store your belonging on their servers, and check in with them to do anything at all.

The point is to get the word out to those who aren't following this, such as families. I find that most kids don't have an allowance that allows for a steady supply of $60 games with XBL Gold. They rely on trading with their friends, and selling their used games.

i'm a grown man and i don't have a salary that allows for a steady supply of $60 games. who cares? this is the future of consoles, if you're not with it you should find a new hobby.

Microsoft has now come out in the open and stood behind what we all feared. There's no confusion left but in the tiniest nuances of this story: they are gunning for us as consumers, and it's either we stop it now or this industry radically changes into something not worth saving (if it even survives at all anyway).

If this not worth a boycott, absolutely no bit of game news would ever warrant such. If this is not worth a boycott, then we might as well all just go home and allow any business to take advantage of us simply because we don't want to put in the effort to push back. If this is not worth a boycott, then we never really loved games in the first place and this hobby of ours needs to go down in flames anyway.

I say, if this is not worth a boycott, then nothing in this industry ever would be.

This is my biggest concern with the Xbox One. I mean I could live with no used games and the 24 hour DRM now that I have decent broadband (was stuck with dial up before I moved and there was no option for broadband in the area), but they gave us no hope that our games will work in 7 or 8 years once their DRM/activation servers are down. That includes single player games under MS's DRM.

I still play tons of old games and I love them. I expect my physical products to keep working until they break and not when a cloud monster eats up my games and disappears. As soon as I get confirmation that games won't just stop working once the Xbox Two/4 comes out I may consider getting one a few price drops down the line, but as of now I'll be actively warning my gaming friends to avoid it like the plague.

Yep. I understand people gettin out the pitchforks but none of this affects me one bit. I'm just going to be happy to not have to get up and put in a disc to swap games. I'm a grown adult with a family - I don't trade games nor buy 2nd hand and have a great Internet connection with a LTE connection as a fallback. I have more money than time.

not necessarily. it depends who's setting the prices—publishers or microsoft. if publishers... then they absolutely have an incentive to compete with each other. because they would want to sell copies and make money. things go on sale in iOS, I don't see why they wouldn't on xbone.

and I can't see it being Microsoft setting prices (though they will likely have a significant say in the pricing structure... probably a looser version of the XBLA set up I'd imagine)

Personally speaking then I don't buy that console. I still think there's a chance publishers will open their eyes and realize that game fly and red box are not the enemies. Or perhaps those companies are placed on the authorized resellers list so they can have a workaround to the whole no renting ban.
