When rumors of the SteamBox were going around, GAF was frothing at the mouth with excitement. Now that Microsoft has essentially announced their own 'SteamBox' people are going crazy with anger.

The only difference between the X1 and Steam is the 24 hour check in. Everything else works the same and in some ways even better on the X1.

If you counter that Steam is better because it has sales that is not a good enough reason. If gamers did not buy games day 1 and only waited for sales then we would get the quality of games we get today. There is a reason that games like Skyrim and Call of Duty hardly drop in price on Steam. The publishers would make back their money selling those games at sub $20 prices.

I expect similar from Sony next week and GAF will be in for a big surprise.

Please add to the selling/lending/trading that has to be enabled by the publisher of the game. If they don't enable you stuck with game.

They have the OTHER thousands of copies. They own those copies, not the one YOU bought with your hard earned money. They no longer own the one YOU have, it's no longer in the retailer's possession and it's no longer in the publisher's possession. It's in your possession, YOU own the physical media.

Fuck EULA bullshit. Utilize your rights like you're supposed to and quit being so apathetic just because it somehow "doesn't affect you" or "it's gunna happen eventually hurr durr". NO, it CAN'T happen eventually if you put your foot down and don't buy their console. We won't go down the rabbit hole further if there's zero support for the console.

Microsoft and the publishers can only stand on their two feet BECAUSE OF US. The consumers. They're NOTHING if people don't buy their shit.

No, there's absolutely a need. Everyone has to decide whether to continue being part of the problem or start being part of the solution. If someone chooses the former then fuck them. People like them are now affecting me by continuing to reward these corporations for pulling this shit. It absolutely affects me. Those people can fuck right off.

I have 80 games on Steam, I cannot share them, I cannot re-sell them nor can I lend them to friends. I need to be online to activate them and download them, but after that I do not need to be online to play them. What am I missing?

The sad thing about all of this is that any campaign against the Xbone will fade, and by Monday, will be drown out by positive press about the games it is announcing. Microsoft PR may have slipped up but they have a very capable marketing team and I have no doubt that marketing influenced the announcement of these policies today so that they could be swept under the rug.

At any rate, you have my Pro-consumer sword.

Looks like you folks may need to boycott more than one company.

What about TurtleBeach and all of those other headset companies making headphones specifically for the new Xbox jack? They're supporting that system and the policies. Looks like they're in the shit too. Yeah?
