it looks interesting enough, i'll try it out if it comes to PC

too bad it's fugly as shit, but that hardly matters when it comes to these games

You know, it is pretty rough looking, but when you're moving around it's got some nice environments and the way all the characters look unique is nice... it's ugly in a pretty way! And I was really, really positively surprised by what a good experience the demo was.

270k in two days, apparently.

270,000 x $20 = $5,400,000 in revenue in 48 hours. Not bad.

Yep, it looks really rough. Ton of pop-up, tearing etc. and frame rate is pretty horrible. Interesting game, though. It's done well considering there is no multiplayer.

I'm sick and tired of zombies and shooting. No matter how praised games like this and TLoU are, they just seem stale and unappealing for me. :S

Rad!

I believe I'm four or so hours in the game. Very beautiful title in terms of environment. It has a lot of Dead Island-esque traits in which it's grime and it's faults really highlight it's charms. Though I would like Undead Labs to do a patch for it to fix some of the zombie placement.

Watching Brad play this on giant bomb it doesn't seem to have much of a structured story. Is it just open ended like that?

I don't know anything about this game aside from someone mentioning it on IRC earlier today. Just from the name though and the responses in this thread, I'm guessing it involves zombies?

It kind of amazes me how well zombie games still sell. Maybe Techland making Dying Light wasn't such a bad idea at this rate...

It seems to have prominent promotion every time I visit the dashboard - that still counts a lot towards a games success, and it is a pity that not everyone gets that backing

I feel kinda bad about saying "fugly as shit" now that i've seen some more videos (had only seen the GB quick look)

I guess it's just usual indie budget rough for how ambitious a game those guys are trying to make.

It's coming to PC right?

Hopefully more developers start to do more moderate budgeted retail like experiences in the future. There's an untapped market for games situated somewhere between Indie styled games and AAA blockbusters, and I think this is a great example of that type of game.

BRAVO WELL DONE AND WELL DESERVED.
Most fun I have ever had in a review. I had so much footage for the review it took almost twice as long to get my notes straight. Deep game...insanely deep.

As others said.

The zombie game you have ALWAYS wanted.

They should have used a better engine because Crytek is known for its terrible framerates on Xbox and here we are with 5fps scenes.

Otherwise good game, as long as they develop the coop section now. The fact of the matter is they have no reason not to, and it was pretty much promised if there were good sales.

Don't really care if the framerate sucks or that there is tearing, it's been the most enjoyable single player game I've played in a LONG time.

It also has a couple community actions in it that point to them heading to Co-op like the cheer and other emotes. So here is hoping!

How representative of the full game is the demo?

It's pretty much the same concept throughout, but the one thing I dislike is the guns.

1. Auto aim is retarded. If you try to aim at the head, it pulls your aim to the chest. They do not die from chest shots. THERE IS NO OPTION TO TURN THIS OFF.

2. Ammo is so limited. I am hoping that certain base options will produce a lot of ammo so you can go on rampages.

The fact they put auto aim in without the option to turn it off is really gamebreaking to the guns in this game. It's so reliant on head shots, but it doesn't let you aim at the head.

The demo is pretty long. You play a 30-40 minute long introduction sequence which teaches you the combat and traversal mechanics, and then when you finish the intro you get a 30 minute countdown timer. That timer is enough to do one or two missions, learn about the rucksack and the home base stuff, maybe find a building that can be used to build a safe zone. So it's clear that the resource management/construction/people management stuff is only hinted at in the demo in comparison to the whole game, but you get the tease. I think you'd know what you're in for.

I've had way more ammo than I have ever needed, and the auto aim thing works like it did in Red Dead. Be looking near the head when you press the left trigger and it will snap right on there head. I've never had it go to their chest.

Good news to me personally as I am loving the game at the moment.

It is pretty damned intense, there is so much to do and it's hard to figure out what the hell you should do sometimes but that is part of the charm.

Question, can you complete defense missions just by barricading? Lost a dude in a defense mission trying to take out a fat guy. Those things are impossible to take on with melee weapons.

The combat and overall game is really janky, but I keep wanting to buy it. Dunno what I'll do. Guessing since it's selling so well we won't see a sale anything soon...

As far as what goes? The issues? Very representative. It's a jank-fest, but instead of messing up the game, it makes it somehow work in its favor. If you meant how does it represent the totality of the experience, it doesn't. Base management , recruiting new people and managing their moods etc all get more and more important. The enemies increase in number and strength too, which means your tension rises because you know once mistake and you've lost that character for the duration of the game.

I think one of GAFs best kept secrets is that you can get MS points for cheaper in the buy/sell/trade thread. I got this game for $15.

It's nice when a game like this comes out of nowhere and surprises you. Not really that big on open world games but I'm enjoying this a lot.

Good timing with the game coming out after everyone stocked up on cheap points. I'm guessing that helped quite a bit.

This game really puts the scare in you when you're exploring and you see the zombies in the distance or running at you when you're least expecting it.
