Sakurai confirms Smash trailer at E3 direct!

If/when K. Rool gets in they should play around with his identity crisis/multiple-personality disorder and avoid the King/Pirate/Scientist/Boxer personas altogether.

I brought this up in the Smash IRC awhile ago but personally I'm hedging my bets on KRAZY K. ROOL KAR-SALESMAN.

Yah, I agree with that. K. Rool's disguise fetish/disassociative identity disorder was acknowledged as recently as Mario Super Sluggers, so I don't think it's something that'll fly under the radar.

Anyone know if the Smash Dojo thing will be brought back? It was always so much fun trying to try to predict the updates and a great way to build hype.

Should be back. Each Smash Bros had a Dojo in Japanese, and Brawl was the first to get an English Dojo, so we should be good for this Smash Bros too.

Gah. I really hope that King K. Rool joins SSB4, it would be the greatest moment for me! Same with Roy.

I sure hope so! That was the best thing ever, and kept me so hyped for Brawl.

Same here with Roy and King Rool as well.

Last minute E3 prediction for newcomers:
- Ridley
- Palutena
- Takamaru
- Little Mac
- Mega Man
meanwhile over at gamefaqs:

How can they make the game more Attractive? lol, I'm dying from all that
Further proof of how sad that site is. Reading the constant amount of stupidity every time I go there makes my head roll. Once E3 hit, I.. I.. I have no words for what will happen.

Don't understand why people want Roy back so much, this coming from a huge FE fan and somebody that used him in melee over Marth. Roy was cool but there's no real reason for his return in anything aside from a alt costume for like Chrom or Ike really. He was in Melee as an advertisement for his upcoming game, and they didn't even bother to give him a moveset that better corresponds to his in-game self, like a projectile since the Sword of Seals can actually do that in FE6. Then they basically copied and pasted his moveset onto Marth, something that made even less sense.

Kinda sucks we won't be able to get a live audience reaction the the new SSB trailer. You just know Nintendo is going to thrown in some surprise character reveal.

K.Rool is up there with Ganon (LTTP/Zelda 1 model) in one of the new "heavy" class characters that I would really love to see.

Especially since the whole "costume" thing could be something that really would make for a fun playstyle of sorts.

I imagine something similar to how Strike Gundam is able to go between its three "packs" (effortlessly and with no-loading) in Gundam Vs. would work marvelously for K. Rool and his three guises.

Plus, having K. Rool would at least do something to acknowledge that he's still a part of the Nintendo family, even if he and the Kremlings were (sadly) cut from DKC Returns.

Uh. You do realize, there were a lot of clones, right? He'd obviously get a different moveset by now. That was something in the past.

You also have to remember Pichu, Ganondorf, Young Link, Dr. Mario and Falco weren't given their own moveset.

Look at their position in Melee's select screen. It was the other way around. They made Marth and then copy-pasted him to make Roy (who's located in one of the "clone" columns). Roy was lucky that they decided to make Marth without the Fire Emblem shield, probably to differentiate him from Link visually.

I realize this, and honestly they're both kind of clones of each other as neither have a moveset all that related to their own games aside from random sword strikes.

Ganon, Falco, and Toon Link did not get new movesets, I wouldn't be surprised to see clones in this game too. I would be fucking pissed, but not surprised.

You talk as if those characters play exactly the same as the characters they share certain moves with. They're their own characters because of their move properties and such. Playing Toon Link vs. regular Link is a completely different experience, just like Fox and Falco.

Why? They've already raised the bar making old clones more unique. To backtrack on this now would be foolish. In fact, anything not done as well as Brawl would be a huge disappointment.

Well, they have many new animations in Brawl (aside from Toon Link), while in Melee they all mostly reused the same animations as the base characters. But, yes, the movesets still kept the same general parameters.

If Roy returns, say, his B attack likely still would be a charged sword strike, but it would be a different one from Marth's, rather than just a version that can charge up more. Of course, that's if they continue this trend of keeping the characters the same from one game to another.

Well, there's the counter attack, which is supposed to reference Fire Emblem's turn based gameplay. The running attack was from the first FE, and I think there was one other attack with the animation taken from there, although I can't remember it right now. IIRC, it was one of his forward B attacks.

Not enough variety. Fox, Falco and Wolf all have the same basic moves and their small differences like oh this one send him back instead of up is not enough of a change. Make completely different attacks or just make them alt costumes, no point in having some half ass finished character taking up a slot. Ganon is the worst of the bunch though.

Like I said, Roy returning is something I feel is extremely unlikely. Either way, his return should incorporate his projectile attack in his moveset to at least differentiate him more from Marth. His hypothetical final smash could also look more like his critical hit from his own games. Also give his attacks more of a flame/explosion properties since that's basically how it was in FE6 as well with the Sealed Sword.

Better no clones than any sort of clones, even Luigi doesn't have an excuse this time. Give him the Poltergust goddamn it.

You can't get the same experience playing with those characters, though. It's like Ryu/Ken. People with no knowledge of Street Fighter ignorantly say "oh they have the same moves so they play the same." But people who actually bother to do research will note that they play completely different from each other. Mario and Luigi offer different things that you can't get just from playing one of them. It's why the "clone" argument is such a flawed one because it always comes from a place of ignorance.

People who note the difference are usually either tournament players or more of the "hardcore". To anybody else they're clones unless their moves do something wildly different. Besides, I'd rather have characters who play differently that do different moves, not ones that have the same basic moves but with little differences like which way they send the opponent. It's why a bunch of the Final Smashes are fucking awful, it's why Falco and Wolf should become alt costumes or get completely different movesets anything else is just laziness on their part. Also Capcom has been sucking Shoto dick for years, they need to stop with that bullshit. There's like 10 of the assholes now.

...So in Brawl, Falco kicking his Reflector Shield out in front of him, instead of keeping it around himself (a la Fox and Wolf), was not "different enough"? Let alone the quite different normal attacks each of the Space Furries had?

nah bro they all had landmasters so their all clones GOD GET WITH THE TIMES

I can understand Falco, who still shared some moves with Fox (despite almost all of them having completely different properties), but it always annoyed me how people called Wolf a clone when only his specials are barely similar. His moveset outside of that (excluding his Final Smash) is 100% different.

I actually hope the Dojo doesn't come back. I'm the kind of person that loves secrets. Half the fun of getting a new game for me is unlocking everything and exploring the game's content. It was pretty much all ruined for me with Brawl, though. I never visited the site, but the blogs I was reading posted every single Dojo story :/ So I could either go on a black out for the entire gaming inudstry or just read the occasional Dojo announcement. I opted for the latter, but it really frustrated me. If the Dojo does come back around, hopefully I can figure out a way to filter out those stories from the rest of my gaming news.

One different special, change the others, don't make it slightly different versions of the same move, make actual different moves that have nothing to do with the others, otherwise make him an alt or discard him. Falco especially should just become an alt costume, he'd go back to the way he was in melee and actually let another character with a completely unique moveset take his spot.

I bet they do something Dojo-like, only this time it'll be exclusively on Miiverse.

While Falco needs an overhaul I really despise this "turn characters into skins" crap. It won't work on characters that are "defined".

If Mewtwo can be cut, then clones and semi clones can be alts. Either fix them or give the spot to somebody who doesn't copy shit.

Falco is probably the clone least similar to his original (Fox) on the whole Melee roster, in terms of how he actually plays. (I could maybe see an argument for Ganondorf over him, but that's about it.)

Mewtwo technically wasn't cut, just delayed, and he played shit in Melee.

And Falco is like the most dissimilar out of the returned clones.
