PS4 and Xbox One UK Pre-order sales data - Hard data included! [Updated]

UPDATE 2

PS4 LTD - 6250
Xbox One LTD - 4100

Net additions

PS4 - 3040
Xbox One - 2110

Additional note - At the chain in question, PS4 pre-orders are no longer guaranteed for launch, Xbox One pre-orders still are which may have effected the figures. A total of 4500 PS4's have been pre-ordered in this region at this one retailer (around 20 stores in the region) that are guaranteed for launch day.

UPDATE

PS4 LTD Total - 3210
Xbox One LTD Total - 1990

Net additions:

PS4 - 900
XB1 - 590

For the week just passed, PS4 > XB1 by a 2:1 ratio.

Data accurate to 17/07/13

Comes from the same source, thanks for the update. :D

OLD DATA
~2200 PS4 Deposits LTD
~110 PS4 "Game Exclusive" Deposits LTD
~1400 Xbox One Deposits LTD

~360 PS4 Deposits WTD (not including yesterday or today)
~110 PS4 "Game Exclusive" Deposits WTD
~180 Xbox One Deposits WTD

Since the reveal of the PS4 hardware at E3 pre-orders have been tracking 2:1 in favour of it, for the three weeks before that they were in higher for the Xbox One (after their reveal event).

For those of you who know, you know the source, but he would rather remain anonymous to protect his job so I am making the thread on his behalf. I have proof of the source's figures, they are real.

Figures are for a single region for a single retailer.

It seems like people don't appreciate 24h online checks, mandatory Kinect, draconian used game policies and a higher pricepoint.

Fortunately Microsoft still has a product to sell to those people in the future - it's called xbox 360...

Bad news for MS. UK ratios were close to US ratios this gen and that was their only stronghold in Europe. Mainland figures are probably much more in Sony's favour.

I've read what I guess would be the equivalent of our 'musings' on Irish discussion boards that paint a similar picture at an individual store level, in some cases more extreme (i.e. pre-E3 Xbox lead, after E3 a massive shift). Of course it's not hard data.

It's weird that Xbone even had that lead pre 3 given their reveal event.

Surprising considering places like Amazon have said they are tracking more Xbox One pre-orders.

That was immediately after the Xbox reveal and pre-E3. The PS4 has been significantly ahead of the XBO on amazon's public listings for the past week in pretty much every country where you can buy both, including the UK.

I think it all comes down to price. You can't be so much more expensive than the competition when you are otherwise pretty much the same games.

Bad news for Microsoft considering the 360 base in the UK and how tight the competition between the 360 and PS3.

I was in GAME yesterday and 5 people in the queue were buying The Last of Us and 2 trading in there 360's for a PS3.

The fact that the tides changed after E3 tells me the main problem for XO is indeed the high price, with the DRM stuff being a more minor one (but still a "big" one).

Does anyone know if Sony is likely to encounter supply issues with the increasing interest in the PS4 at launch? They have said they have not entered mass manufacturing yet, but I would imagine they must be having to strike some manufacturing deals to make sure they have enough units at launch.

I think the more informed people who know of MSFT's policies are also making the switch. Also, you aren't missing out terribly if you're not getting an Xbone. Not yet. The PS4 should have a very strong launch and that's not even counting PSN titles.

2nd question rescinded, it was answered a few posts up :)

Software should be interesting with people using the xbox library feature to share games.

With day 1 digital as well it's going to be difficult to see how much everything has sold anyway. Tretton said the Vita is like 60% digital.

The sales before E3 looked like this:

1840 PS4
1220 XBone

Not as lopsided as today but still in PS4s favor - the pricepoint just added to the problems....

Yeah, preorders pretty much don't say anything about how well the systems are going t osell.

That's not completely true. A large part of why the Xbox 360 has done so well is because it had much better multi-player and online abilities at launch, had a years head start and built up large online communities right from the start. The console that has the larger install base is going to be the best one for online gaming simply because it has more players and bigger communities.

If all the rumours re supply amounts are true, and the PS4 takes an early lead in sales then it will naturally gain momentum just because you want to play online with your friends. Right now in the UK my 360 is better for online gaming just because its what everyone has. If in April 2014 the ps4 is the console that's ahead in sales and has the larger install base you'd go with that because it allows you to play with more people and the odds are higher its what your friends have.
