There are leaked files and stuff like weapons, camos, unlockables, SP stuff. I think it was posted on here but I won't, just incase.

I don't know if the destruction is really that improved. I hope it, but that was one of those things that just didn't deliver in BF3. At all. and I mean, the levels where so similar before/after destruction I didn't..

I mean, I hoped for the game to break down. That would have made it more fun. to have buildings collapsing over the objectives. That would have been more fun than the COD-infinite-respawn mechanics, where death is reduced to nuance and the feel of a kill is often diminished.

I think the unpredictable elements that surprise you is better than some balance. Dat battlefield moment is all about the unexpected holy-shit-that-just-didnt-happen.

Movement felt heavy and they changed up all the default gamepad settings. And despite being an alpha, it hit my FPS quite a bit. I normally play BF3 at 800 x 480 on low, but had to switch to 640 x 480 to get similiar (but still a little worse) FPS.

I know it's just an Alpha, but it just doesn't feel quite like Battlefield (3) to me, not yet anyway. I'm on an HP Pavillion laptop from 2010-2011.

Radeon 6570m
i7 2630QM @2.00 GHz

I wasn't a PC guy when I bought it, but had I been, that $1000 would have bought a high-end gaming PC instead.

But mate, playing it on low on that resolution.. there is just no way that's going to give that Battlefield feel. the graphics are severely compromised. Playing it like that it wouldn't feel like Battlefield to me at all!!

Dice already said destruction will be limited due to balancing issues. Not technical limitation

that was my point. but dumbing things down in the name of balance is not fun. it's not the apeshit insane thing I fondly remember BF being all about. I don't think this game is going to be a competitve e-sport title no matter what they do.

Why not just embrace the arcadey cartoony hilarious kill-or-be-kill style of BF2, instead of trying to go the way of COD with pop'n-respawn?

What? Bf1942 and bf2 did not have destruction at all.

I also hope they ramp the destruction a bit, but i dont think it will influence how successful it will be.

i think this applies to certain maps like siege of shanghai.

from an edge online interview with aleksander gröndal:
Bad Company 2 was all about destruction, you could level entire building, completely change the shape of an entire map. Is that going to be the case with Battlefield 4?

Aleksander Grondal: Yes, absolutely.

Even dealing with buildings on the scale we saw in the new multiplayer trailer?

Yes, so for the Siege on Shanghai map we focused the destruction, we wanted to take one building down on this map, we felt like if we took all the buildings down on that map it would completely ruin the game experience that we wanted to design in the first place. On traditional Battlefield maps you have all these small houses; it doesnt really change that much to destroy all the houses, it looks really cool. But this map we wanted to focus to focus and say ok, the focus of the map is that building, and the destruction on the smaller [scale] is around store fronts and around, you know, where players are at and shooting in the area. Were focussing destruction there.

...
Theres still a greatly reduced level of destruction to what you had in BC2, so what was the problem with BC2 since you guys have absolutely turned your back on that not only that game, but also that kind of destruction?

We love that kind of destruction, and we want to have that kind of destruction on other types of maps. Its just that this one, we wanted to be a bit more focused.

So that style of play will be in the game?

Yes, absolutely.

Therell be maps where players can essentially carve a straight line across the map?

Essentially, yes. So with these houses that collapse, you know the one and two storey houses that completely gets obliterated? Well have maps with that type of gameplay, too.

OK, so in this case you have a map built around one type of building which can be brought down and other maps will be a sea of huts that you can wreck?

Yes. I love Bad Company. I also think Bad Company had a better level of destruction than Battlefield 3 and we are the first to admit that. Battlefield 3 didnt necessarily deliver what we wanted it to be on the destruction level so were kind of upping that, we want to make sure everything goes.

Wouldn't a game not running at 1080P be laughed at though?
It should look good anyway, but I hope it is 1080P.

If it's not 1080p, I have a hunch it won't be the only one.

Official word came as the Microsoft Studios chief revealed there will be no minimum performance requirements (such as resolution or frame rate) set for games released on Xbox One.

"There were games that shipped on 360 that were less than 720p," said Spencer. "It's important we give creators the best tools to create the best experience possible and I don't think that platform holders can dictate what the internal frame buffer size should be.

"Forza 5 runs at 60 frames per second, but other people will make different trade-offs. I think it's important - maybe because I'm a studio guy - that you give freedom to the creator because today, through lighting techniques and post effects, resolution is not the thing that maximises beauty."

Spencer concluded: "Some of the most beautiful games of this generation are not dictated by how many pixels they're pushing to the screen. Motion blur, antialiasing, lighting: all of these things come into play. We just give developers the tools and let them make the right creative decisions."

I don't have the timestamp, but during the E3 livestream Patrick Bach said the game would run at 1080P on the next gen consoles.

Most would be hard pressed to tell 720p from 1080p from 10ft away from a 42-46 in tv. Its just not possible to see all those pixels as individuals from that distance.

720p @ 60fps for everything should be the target (according to me). I think its detrimental for big screen comfy couch gaming to push for a resolution that only matters when sitting at a desk PC gaming on a monitor.

It would be a huge mistake to keep it at 720p, I game on a decent PC with 27" monitor 1080p and a 50" plasma 1080p, and my wife uses a 42" TV on which she plays XBOX 360 games, and they look bloody terrible at 720p, blurry low res and full of jaggies, even she comments on how clear the games I play look.

If MS and Sony started banging out 720p games for the next gen consoles, me for one wouldn't touch any of them.

Got in, the line cracked me up as I haven't played BF since 1942 demo. :p

Everything went worse than expected:

Hello,

Earlier today you received an email invitation to the Battlefield 4 Alpha Trial. This email was sent in error and unfortunately we cannot accommodate the additional entries into the Alpha Trial. We understand that this may have caused great frustration and we sincerely apologise for any disappointment this has caused our fans.

I guess DICE aren't in on MICROCORP AMAZUNG CLOUD

Where's mine, DICE? I played your games, WHY DO YOU TREAT ME LIKE THIS? DIIICE?

Don't you understand? You spend thousands in a series buying all the games and DLC. They can't give you early alpha for free as you may not like what you play since they want to deliver their best to you when the game launches!

You know what I mean? Good. Please buy Battlefield Super Omega Plus, with unique rainbow colored dog tags.

There's also (hopefully as promised) a BF4 beta for Premium members, MoH:W LE owners or those that have pre-ordered BF4 for your platform.

Oh, how I agree. I also have a decent 27" 1080p PC monitor and console games at 720p do look quite horrible.
