Drop the price by $100 (remove Kinect or subsidize) and I'm back on board. I would "rather" purchase a One, as I'm more embedded in the Xbox ecosystem than Playstation - but not at $100 more with these horribad anti consumer policies. I have a PS4 pre-ordered, up to Microsoft to win me back.

We need Cboat in here asap

Also, MS prepared this policies for Xbone for over a year and now they will scrap everything and start from beginning. 5 months before launch day in 21 coutries.

Are people so spineless that they would actually buy an Xbone if they backtrack the DRM? Way to go GAF.

Great news if true, definitely would rekindle interest in the console down the road for me. It's shitty that they even thought about having it (and currently, still have it) as their policy, but I don't doubt that Sony was also planning on doing it but saw the backlash MS got and decided to backpedel and turn it into instant, easy positive PR.

All this means is that every fanboy and journalists and asshole who tried to argue in favor of these policies looks doubly foolish because they wasted that time defending something now everyone admits was a mistake including Microsoft and for what? Did they get paid for those days of pathetic defense? I hope they did.

I agree with you entirely. The fact that MS was thinking in this direction is a huge negative against them to me, it says they have no problem fucking us. So I will never have them as my first console like I did last gen, they did lose that privilege. But a price drop or two later and after I see there's no chance they'll put the DRM back on? Sure.

Great post man, spot on.

Will wait for official news. But if true, drop the damn kinect mandotory from it also and 100 euro's less then i will buy it.
That won't happen. The kinect being in every system is core to the developers supporting kinect features as well as core os and Skype. The drm stuff was backend and clearly they can engineer it out or work around.

Frankly I would rather have the online check if it is at the expense of family sharing and god help me if they make me keep the disc in the tray.

If this is true then it's a pretty big bomb. After this the only bad thing about the console would be the connection when first setting it up and the price. The price could be fixed easily, the other thing is more worrying.

More specifically, the bad thing is kinect. It's the reason for the higher price.

I still think this is too good to be true. Surely we would have heard from many sources including ones from GAF if there was any rumblings of this happening.

like this will change everything, all the people who had decided they weren't going to buy it even before it was announced will still whine about it.

Well, shit. I don't have the money for the more powerful console *and* the one that has Forza.

But if true, they have my attention again.

Wow....If this is true, I can finally stop hating on them and start looking forward to Below and D4.

Please be true, this would be a great victory for consumers!

like how giantbomb was pretty much sure that the ps4 was going to be just like the xbox?

They didn't write that up because it was what Klepek "heard". I will be first to mock if this turns out to be BS but I assume they have a decent source to run this.

If Microsoft does this they will stand a much better chance of winning this generation, especially since they appear to have the better launch lineup and now that Sony has started charging for online multiplayer. Of course there is still the price difference, but that can change over time. Only if they actually go through with dropping the online check ins for single player though.

Would be amazing if true... and if it is true, it goes to show the power of the vocal consumer. (Preliminary) good work guys!
