DriveClub (Evolution Studios/PS4) announcement trailer. [PS3 WHEELS ARE SUPPORTED]

I see a wink there... it's going to be FMV, isn't it? ;)

Any chance you can fill us in on Ged Talbot's influence/role in the game, or what (if any) inspiration has been taken from PGR? I'm surprised to have not seen him doing any promotional work at all... I guess maybe he'll be at Gamescom. Not that there's anything wrong with the current guys doing promo stuff, doing a great job!

Would it be worth contacting anyone at Sony to see if they have any info on the wheel situation? I think it's reasonable to require new DS4s, but expensive accessories that are wired via USB should be supportable. I guess the risk is that even if they are, that support will come too late for driveclub at launch.

The closer to PGR the better. Outside of MS, PGR4 was the best racer I played this gen, and it was forever ago.

Do it. A truly excellent game, and by far the best of the "changing tracks/destruction" bunch. It's amazing the amount of shit that is going on at any given time in some of the races.

Grid 2 is pretty fun. At least the track/city levels. Not a fan of the point to point country roads, just so dull.

Not a fan of apocalypse, thought the first two games were much better. Would love a squishy squelchy motorstorm on PS4

I think the graphics look fine. I was worried about all the talk but looks ok to me, plenty of time to polish it up - although the designer needs to check his calendar, he doesn't have 6-7 months until the holiday season :)

I wished show other tracks though. I'm not fond of this fairly recent 'open' courses, I'd rather have proper tracks or street circuits. AndI miss slow cars. Supercars are great but I can have a lot of fun in a VW Golf too.

The car and the lighting look pretty good actually, the environment looks kinda bad and I hope they reach 60FPS with all these features intact.

I think it's just the mountains in the background that look bare, but then again it's hard to make most things out from the off-cam footage. 60fps and some better AA. I think I've been spoiled with Forza 5's image quailty ( looks real clean)

The builds they prep for E3 are usually behind from where they are in development when the actual E3 event happens. What we saw was 35% complete, but that doesn't mean their actual development was at 35% at that moment.
The E3 build was apparently fairly recent, according to nofi:

DriveClub was recent, presumably within a matter of weeks. One of the devs told me they were fixing stuff we were looking at this week, suggesting an ongoing process.

Motion Comics will not be making an appearance ;)
Ha! Thank god!

Both run @1080p,I wonder what kind of AA they're using.Either ways I expect DC to beat Forza in IQ.In the video the trees and the pop-in look bad.

"wheel and peddle sets" lol

The video has been sped up too, to show the dynamic lighting changes.

That "fan" system is identical to the one in GRID. Nothing new here...

The graphics are in need of some serious polish as well. Will be interesting to see what kind of graphical improvements they can implement while still increasing the framerate to 60fps.

The thing with Forza looking better than this at the moment is that Forza was running on a high end PC at E3. I wouldn't be suprised if that game gets scaled back a bit graphically between now and launch.

No, just no.

FM5 was running on actual XB1 hardware not a PC dev environment like the third party games were.

I thought it was confirmed that Forza 5 ran on an xbone dev-kit?

I stand corrected then. I was under the impression that everything we saw was running on "specced to xbone" pc's.

You got a link to confirm that?

It was a digital foundry article. I haven't got it saved anywhere though.

Quantum Break, Ryse and FM5 were all running on actual hardware while all the third party devs had to use Monster PCs downspecced to XB1 rough power estimates.

All they showed of that was some cut-scene. Weirdest reveal at E3 in my opinion.

A quick and dirty image capture from the recent vid of 2 similar positions over 2 laps to show the day/night cycle. Very beautiful effect as the sun goes down.

I really like the lighting. It says in the video that the devs sped up the day/night cycle, but it gives such a great effect it should be an option to leave it at high speed.

I want to see some direct feed footage of gameplay for a change. All we got is that overblown cam footage from e3.

Edit: Wow, weather changing during a race will be awesome. Very few games (if any) do it, probably due to hardware limitations, but it can add so much to the game.

wassup with all the Forza trolls in this thread?... I mean with the Xbox One being able to play used games now and some Forza fans feeling they had to "leave" initially before the announcement.....well, you don't have to "miss Forza" now......and you don't have to troll these threads....for the others who stick around to troll, well i hope to god you are getting paid.

anyone who has followed Evolution, know they will come through before launch...they have many times over....that is their approach.

If you are new to Evo's series of games, well there are numerous of examples through out this thread that show you their various builds of games before launch.

and of course we can just show you gifs from their previous work.

What will this game try to compete against? Is it against Forza or is it more against the Grid/NFS games?
Maybe I'm mistaken but it seems closest to Forza Horizon overall, minus the open world. Licensed cars, arcade/sim balance.

I never played any of the Motorstorms online, but god damn words cannot express how much fun I had with them. The sense of speed, the mud splashing, the crazy jumps and vistas, and the feeling of being in the middle of a stampede (especially terrifying when on a bike or ATV). It just hasn't been matched by anything else out there.

I'm in for DriveClub, but would hope that Motorstorm could make a comeback some time down the line. Something along the lines of Pacific Rift in particular.

It's not at all a Forza competitor. GRID, and more accurately, Project Gotham Racing, are the most accurate comps. Which makes sense when you know that a whole bunch of ex-Bizarre Creations guys are over at Evolution now.

People are mentioning Forza a lot because they *expect* this game to look better and in its early state, it doesn't. I expect the graphics to shape up before the game ships, however.

Eh it's normal to pit them against each other. I think people are just bummed that this brand new machine, supposedly more powerful than the XBO isn't capable of 60fps, at least not the current version. I love evo, I've followed their work from the WRC days, and I think this game is going to be great. Bottom line though is they're going up against turn 10 though, who are real veterans at making their game now, whereas evo is new to even the semi-realistic non rally genre.

At the end of the day, I'm stoked about it - I'd just love it if they hit 60. It's important for racing, people shouldn't pretend like it isn't, and moreover, this is next gen.

Sonys move to make this free on ps plus (even a toned down version) is brilliant though. There are going to just be massive numbers and competition at launch, making it the social game experience to beat at launch between the two next gen consoles. Brilliant move.

I read somewhere that Forza 5 uses things like pre-baked lighting to achieve 60fps.

Personally I would love to see a next-gen version of Motorstorm with even better mud effects.

Motorstorm 1 >>> All.

The vehicle destruction in Apocalypse was so pathetic compared to glorious original.

Well....this is awkward lol...

Adam Boyes talked about the fact he was playing the Ouya with a Dual Shock 4 on Twitter so I decided to ask him again if there was any news on Steering Wheel support on the PS4.... No replies from him so far but like 10 sec after I asked him a Sr. Software Engineer from EA Sports followed me on Twitter hahaha. I guess we're not the only one wondering if those wheels are supported! haha.

Wheel support in Madden confirmed.

Perfect description.

Yeah, the environments in Pacific Rift were just perfect for that type of game. Apocalypse just didn't evoke the same kind of emotions. I really hope Evolution make a 60fps PR sequel for the PS4 after Driveclub. It would be truly epic.

I would say that everything I got to play at e3 Driveclub was the most disappointing. Game felt nowhere near as good as forza 5 or gt6 drive wise.

Sony probably felt the same way which is why they are essentially making it f2P with ps+

They should have done a great arcade racer instead something like a ridge racer or daytona OR make a new Wipeout game
